Without a doubt, Allegaeon is the greatest Technical Death Metal band of all times. Just watching this playthrough solidifies that fact. In all of my years listening to this awesomely intense and unique style of music I have come across very few bands that barely come close to what Allegaeon has accomplished in their career. No one does it better. The only other band today that comes close to the level of technical proficiency, complexity, and intensity that Allegaeon wields is Persephone from Andorra. Other than that no one else in the genre can touch these shredders from Fort Collins Colorado. I just wish that Ezra and Corey had stayed with the band instead of moving on. All Hail Allegaeon!

Allegaeon is the Greatest, and most brutally impressive Tech-Death Metal band of all times. When it comes to serious musicianship and absolute technical mastery of the instrument a musician wields, no one in any genre of metal does it better than Allegan. In my opinion, these "Pistoleros" from Fort Collins Colorado, are the future of Death Metal. Watching them live is a privilege and a cathartic experience that will never leave your psyche. Let me tell you if you're a musician your playing will improve by carefully observing them during their performance. Not to mention by listening to their CDs and watching their videos. Allegaeon is at the Apex of the Death Metal Hall of Virtuosos. Excellent footage. Thank you very much for uploading.

It's a lower 8 but he doesn't use the lowest string in this song, maybe it's his favorite guitar so he decided to show it off 

@Chocopuppet Michael, guitar player on the right of the screen, never changes guitars and always uses his 8 string one, unless his main breaks or has problems, while Greg, guitar player on the left of the screen, switches between 7 and 8 string guitars, depending on the song being played.

Source: I know the dudes, and saw them about 10 times live in the last 8 months :P

@Mark Mckinley That was extremely well written, made a lot of sense.

all technique is muscle memory... and yeah if you want to learn technique start slowly and build it up but when learning a technique all on its own like I recently improved upon my alternate picking learn some scales and just smash those until your muscle memorizes the movement you must make and you will improve your technique in that amazingly due to receptivity... :P and try starting on up strokes when alternate picking its odd but really useful and good to use.

@Mark Mckinley This guy has it right. Flying hands will make you slower, that's for sure. Also repeating the same thing over and over will only get you so far, you need to repeat one thing, master it and do other things. You can't repeat the same thing over and over.

I like that they're already playing scales and melodies with extended range and not just chugging the last string 0-0-0-00-0-0-000000000 x2

You also have to remember that these musicans have deticatedna greater part of their life to music, tis all they do my friend. If you have the will to do, or want to make music like this or even surpassed, then thats what it takes.
