Alkaline Trio - My Little Needle Lyrics

i'll come down to get you high. or maybe sing you a lullaby. sing you to sleep, a sleep you'll never wake from. sing you to coma so to speak. and when i fall down, i'll fall apart. trade in my bike for a shopping cart. and beg change from a world that needs some, like i need someone. so where are you my little needle? the stack's been burned away, but i'm so inebriated that i cannot see three feet in front of me. between the moon and you, lunacy is setting in. lately i've been feeling dead inside, like my guts have dried up and died. but every night i water them back to life, yeah every night i water them back to life. and when i fall down, i'll fall apart. trade in my bike for a shopping cart. and beg change from a world that needs some. i'm tired of sleeping alone. so where are you my little needle? the stack's been burned away, but i'm so inebriated that i cannot see three feet in front of me. between the moon and you, lunacy is setting in.

Alkaline Trio My Little Needle Comments
  1. N.... M....

2019.... Shamelessly hanging onto every beat of this

  2. J.... P....

    Like I need someoone

  3. D.... n....

I love matts backup vocals and some of the bass pickup fills he drops in, a great player

  4. K.... A....

Matt Skiba once said this song is about looking for love

    K.... A....

Karol Ash yeah I read that too. I think if it were about addiction, it wouldn't be expressed so flat out. I mean like "I'm gonna stop doin dope!!" something like that would seem a little too obvious for trio

    K.... A....

    @Northernlights4 right

  5. D.... A....

    songs about addiction

    D.... A....

    michael vincent No. Just no

    D.... A....

Alex K and M V a song is whatever you interpret it as. That is why its called art, perhaps its about addiction, perhaps its about love? Its about how it connects with you on a personal level. "You can sing a song to 85000 people and they'll sing it back for 85000 different reasons"-Dave Grohl

    D.... A....

    It's a metaphor for love.

    D.... A....

But at the same time quite literally matt struggled with addiction alot so I'm sure he had it so it can be interpreted however

  6. K.... O....

cant wait to hear matt on the new blink album

    K.... O....

Kyle Osendorf finally blink has a good singer ^^

    K.... O....

Samara Morgan I think that Matt is a perfect addition to Blink. In my opinion, Tom's best days as a singer are well behind him. Matt is a great singer, both live and in studio 👌👌

    K.... O....

    Thats my opinion too :)!

  7. h.... ....

This album and song is the most nostalgic for me. I loved this album so much when I was younger.

    h.... ....

It's still so good all these years later, I feel can relate to them more now that I'm older.

    h.... ....

    Marry me

I was in love from the first licks I ever heard, 11 years old when I first heard, 22 and still going. That's 11 years of alkaline trio.

  17. m.... ....

  26. r.... b....

@VenomousWhale really i gotten into them two years ago i ve listened to pretty much all their albums cept for your lungs only lol

  27. E.... K....

    @JakeAmdahl always an option!

  28. J.... A....

    @TheEric1203 get em BOTH haha

  29. s.... ....

@PatrickTheHattrick92 That sucks man! But it's a damn good song to listen to while you're in a car crash.

  30. P.... ....

I was listening to this song when i got in a car crash D=

  31. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 Yeah, I always figured the hardest part physically about guitar is getting used to fretting since I learned that, from pressing metal strings all the time you get calluses at first, but that kind of thing comes with pretty much any instrument. I always figured hammer-ons and pull-offs were pretty straightforward but looks like i stand corrected. That's awesome you learned Nintendo stuff haha, that'd be fun to play. I mostly just messed with chords and stuff on our keyboard.

  32. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 right, I'm in highschool and play trumpet so I have lots of experience with reading music and everything, and guitar tabs don't look that hard. I was thinking of taking the same route you did... I have a couple friends who are really good at guitar so maybe they could help get me started, but I also wanna try teaching myself. Piano seems like a great learning tool for music. Unfortunately, I got rid of the electronic keyboard I used to have ^^ oh well

  33. r.... b....

neither it's old school alkaline trio or new alkaline trio it's still the same band we all love so dearly :D

  34. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 sweet, i should totally pick up guitar so I can understand all this lol

  35. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 Oh thats pretty cool, always wondered what it would be like to just take an acoustic guitar and rig it to be electric hah. A lot of them use a mic tho, instead of having pick-ups installed don't they? I don't play as of now so I don't know a whole lot about that.

  36. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 thats good. Ive seen acoustic bass before. Its like if you thought the electric bass was long, holy crap im surprised some people can reach the first fret! lol. It does make for a nice sound like at an unplugged show or something. Sounds like people jump on the offer when they do come around lol.

  37. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 lol a bat? Thats sweet. Bass is awesome too, pick bass is one of the reasons i love punk so much. It sounds really powerful and the riffs are sick. And it stands out more, like in other styles of music the bass is usually more or less in the background, but in punk it's more prominent and the resulting sound overall is mind-blowing sometimes. I see what you mean about the background check, it's like you should be higher than that.

  38. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 Yeah, good luck with that indeed. Hopefully it makes a better career for you than your current job lol. Speaking of guitars, i wanna learn to play sometime... i have a summer job now, so hopefully i can set aside enough for a decent $200 or so starter.

  39. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 of course, i'd probably find myself doing the same. Giving to charity, contributing to campaigns and stuff, and like you said thanking people who were there on the way up. I'd feel like an asshole just sitting on it all. It's also nice when artists use their popularity to raise awareness. The world is more likely to listen to their idols reaching out to them about the environment or what have you, rather than some guy on the news.

  40. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 Of course, we all have our needs. I saw a comment on rise against's facebook page asking why, even though they show support for the middle/working class, they charge for their music and everything. *FACEDESK*. I won't bother repeating my response. And let's face it... who WOULDN'T take a million dollar contract sitting right in front of them? It's hard to put down when it's offered to you.

  41. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 Yeah, i hate how lots of the stubborn underground people associate a band's popularity with how "faggy" or how much of a sellout they are cause some of them actually deserve it. And maybe it DOES mean they're in it for the money partly at that point, but like you said theyre really good at it, so it doesnt mean they dont put lots of time and thought into what they do. But yeah they dont all earn their way. Some of them have their path paved by people they know and take it from there.

  42. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 Right, like they probably took out the ones that allow artists that the majority of the population doesnt care about lol. Same with me though, i like a little metal... and once in awhile i find myself listening to jazz :) im into bands ranging from Green Day, even though they got huge i still think they're cool.... and then more underground ones like Good Riddance, Lagwagon, No Use For A Name.... They're very different but they all put lots of thought into what they do.

  43. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 Lol i wish you luck with that, I'll totally look for said bands if all goes well. Punk has become kinda generic with the new wave of "pop" bands within the last several years. I need someone to follow when all the old gems go out. But Green Day's singer's son is in a new band and they sound good so there might be hope yet. the Junos are the Canadian music awards right? That is sad. It angers me that all those 'stars' like Enrique Iglesias steal the limelight from the rock bands

  44. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 Yeah it is sad. Everything is done digitally now, and all the top artists of today barely use instruments, it's all synthesized and auto-tuned. But.... look at vinyl sales today. They've actually regained popularity in the last few years. So maybe theres hope, idk. That would be nice to have a studio, so at least you can make your own music that sounds right to you. But i hope you'll have a good job to buy all that equipment lol

  45. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 Yup they did. Yeah torrents can always be corrupted or just bad quality. At least with a CD or a secure music store you can be 100% sure you'll get what you're looking for. But i dont mind CDs because again, the whole fact of having a physical copy. You know anyone can download something and say "check this song out" but a hard copy just holds more sentimental value. Speaking of sound quality, I hear vinyls sound even better. Probably cause of the whole "loudness war" concept

  46. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 true, and now in America (idk about Canada) they blocked limewire and a lot of the major sites... there are still some sites I think, but its still harder to find good ones. I stick with iTunes. It was completely fine it til the bastards raised all new song prices by 30 cents. I try to just buy new albums in full now so its more worth the prices, or CD. I like to sometimes get old CDs too just for the sake of owning them. Lagwagon's awesome, them and Alk3 have excellent drumming

  47. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 ahhh, that sucks lol. Yeah i never really order CDs cause i love music and i just don't have the patience to wait for it and pay for shipping. Usually it's new releases that I get on disc so I feel the need to just get it right away and be one of the first to listen and be up to date (altho these days they're always leaked anyway) either that or i just go on iTunes and download something

  48. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 Oh really? Do you have a few local record stores that might carry a lot of underground stuff? There's one in my town that has a pretty wide selection of music. You have to ask someone who works there to find what you're looking for lol. I haven't listened to Alien Ant Farm in quite awhile, I'll have to get into them.

  49. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 Yeah they did. I didn't know Theory and Finger 11 were Canadian, wow. Hot Water Musics great, i love the split Alk3 did with them. Rooftops is actually the first song I heard played by Alkaline, i think i mentioned that.

  50. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 aw that sucks. I think the only Canadian band I'm into is Sum 41, but i dont even like them that much. And a couple Nickelback songs, but ya know..... meh. When it comes to punk, its mostly just American for me.... I could never really get into British punk bands or anything

  51. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 lol Canadian, huh? I can't say I have a whole lot of music from there. Cool, you're into Foo Fighters, I'm seeing them on their fall tour. Gonna be sick.

  52. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 Haha, mine's getting kinda crowded as well, I might have to steal the one for the computer here. Plus i have one of those "eco-friendly" paper CD cases from Rise Against, which is a little wider than standard and the CD rack is narrower towards the back so it doesn't fit >_>

  53. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 You're right I suppose they have to change it up a little. I do like it but there was just something a tad sub-par for me about the album. Who knows, maybe the 2 new songs on their upcoming album will point out the direction they're heading in. Heavens was pretty good, not my cup of tea but there were a few cool songs on it.

  54. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 Take Lots of Alcohol, cant pass up that killer drumming in the intro. Fine is a great closer for that album, a cool wind-down type song. Do you also have the two bonus songs, Kick Rocks and Those Lungs? Real hits in my opinion. I see what the band was trying to do with that record i think, but i hope the next one is a little more hard rock like their previous work. That first quick paced was sorta misleading compared to the rest, which didnt seem to have as much energy

  55. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 yeahhh good point maybe Matt just caught wind of that. And you do? Interesting, most people tend to go for Matt's voice. I would have to agree, to me Dan's voice seems a little out-of-place, but maybe Matt is just shadowing him out for me. i dunno but nonetheless there are some great songs by him like Maybe I'll Catch Fire, Crawl, Off the Map, The Poison, I'm Dying Tomorrow... those are some of my Dan favorites.

  56. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 sweet thanks for the info. Matt mustve heard his voice and was like "OMG sing some songs. Right now."

  57. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 wow really? Cool. They're amazing though. And that would explain why there isnt a demo with Dan as lead singer lol, there probably would be if he'd been in the band

  58. E.... K....

@ToaD8716 Cool, so just remastered then. I went with the new one for the demo tracks which are fucking amazing.

  59. s.... ....

MY friend Dustin hooked me up with a mix cd of these guys about 7 years ago...hooked ever since.

  60. R.... ....

    @punkCDsampler Cuz its Alk3s roots!

  61. d.... ....

i miss my need le too

  62. j.... k....

@TheCodybear I was younger than that listening to them.

  63. j.... k....

@RolandCrise I'm twenty, and i will never quit listening to them :) ha

  64. K.... M....

    Fucking love this song!

  65. l.... ....

between the moon and you. lunancy is setting in

  66. l.... ....

@RolandCrise a good buddy of mine is 28 and listens to this band like a religion

  67. P.... ....

The last time i listened to this song was like a month ago. I was driving down this hill, and there was this huge ass line of cars and i kept having to stop because theres a stop sign at the bottom of the hill. and i ended up driving underneath the ford ranger in front of me. bad times man. good song

  68. b.... ....

@btbrotherton I take that back, they're probably not horrible I just never really gave them a chance because my musical preference went in a different direction, but old school Alk3 will always be great.

  69. b.... ....

@doghousehobo well, i have every single alkaline trio cd besides the last 2 horrible ones, but I listen to the ones on my computer more often cause every other song doesn't skip. So sure, you can be a poser tool that thinks they're cooler worrying about unimportant shit, or you could be practical and just download them.

  70. N.... ....

listen to his genius lyrics... how does he pull that off in all of their songs? matt skiba is amazing

  71. u.... ....

i remember the first time i heard this song, played it on repeat for hours. i bought the album that day and it is cover to cover unreal. i never get sick of it.

  72. p.... ....

Why would you get the old one? Worse mastering and less songs.

  73. p.... ....

Unless, of course, you prefer digital copies.

  74. E.... K....

    ok thanks for the advice

  75. p.... ....

Newer. It's a rerelease called Goddamnit Redux. Has more songs and a DVD. I don't think the iTunes version comes with the DVD that the physical copy comes with, though. If you can I would reccomend buying a physical copy.

  76. E.... K....

Hey guys, I noticed there are kind of 2 versions of Goddamnit. There's one on iTunes that was apparently released 2008. Should I get the first or the newest version?

  77. S.... ....

This Could Be Love. I think it's from the album Good Mourning.

  78. b.... t....

without a doubt!!!i agree!they were soooo vital when they started out!
remember when i first heard this i actually cried!

  79. k.... s....

i dont really care 4 agony and irony i guees itz aight but alk3 should get there depressing sound bak (which iz a good thing if ur a true fan) on there next album cuz there no longer wit god damn epic and wit there own label now

  80. s.... ....

Atheistchump, they were a better band before. SFTU.
Lagwagon are not 19 years old nowadays.

  81. W.... D....

lately i've been feeling dead inside, like my guts have dried up and died. but every night i water them back to life, yeah every night i water them back to life.

  82. D.... ....

    my fave song EVER!!!!

  83. S.... ....

When I fall down .. I fall apart.

  84. w.... ....

    love this song thanks alot
