Alison Moyet - Money Mile Lyrics

Into your car park drive obsolete motors
With petrol consumption at too higher price
Sell us through windows at backroom board meetings
Blindfolded and handcuffed and in single file

On your money mile
We are the faceless, the nameless, the homeless
On your money mile
There in your fortress where you couldn't care less
On your money mile
We are the caseless, the raceless, the hopeless
On your money mile
You were caught in the crossfire hauling the flag right down

Send us to battle send us to the frontline
Point us at the enemy
Lest we forget
It's for our protection that we lay here slaughtered
It's for our survival we bury our dead

On your money mile
We are the faceless, the nameless, the homeless
On your money mile
There in your fortress where you couldn't care less
On your money mile
We are the caseless, the raceless, the hopeless
On your money mile
You were caught in the crossfire hauling the flag right down

On your money mile…

Into your car park, drive obsolete motors
With petrol consumption at too high a price.
    Sell us through windows at backroom board meetings;
Blindfolded and handcuffed and in single file.
    On your money mile,
We are the faceless, the nameless, the homeless.
    On your money mile,
There in your fortress where you couldn't care less.
    On your money mile,
We are the caseless, the raceless, the hopeless.
    On your money mile,
You were caught in the crossfire hauling the flag right down.
Send us to battle; send us to the frontline.
    Point us at the enemy.
    Lest we forget;
It's for our protection that we lay here slaughtered.
It's for our survival we bury our dead.
    On your money mile,
We are the faceless, the nameless, the homeless.
    On your money mile,
There in your fortress where you couldn't care less.
    On your money mile,
We are the caseless, the raceless, the hopeless.
    On your money mile,
You were caught in the crossfire hauling the flag right down.
    On your money mile...

Super voice Super song ... it could only have existed in the 80's not before or after ....It was like factory every week with even better songs ... Her voice is ideal foR JazZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

The soul in her voice saves what could have been a throw away pop song. Honestly Alison could sing or narrate the dictionary and i'd be all in. Alf was the first album I remember putting on (mainly because i was captivated by the cover) but then WOW the vocal. She elevated an 80's pop album to the highest degree with that soulful growl that cannot be forced or bought. It's now 2019 and I'm still loving her voice (she's got a tad pretentious for my tastes) but she still kills it and remains the UK's MOST UNDERATED FEMALE ARTIST EVER!!!!!!

A Moyet favourite of mine. I am so glad to find it again.

    j.... b....

Represents the spirit of 80's .... She was from Basildon Essex one of satellite towns near London - an hours ride on the train. Those Money Mile bankers, fashionable yuppies etc used to live in Billericay which was a parish of Basildon. what was then a real troublesome working class shit hole ~ full of misfits and undesirables.

I heard this song when I was a kid in the 80s. Didn't know the artist or title but vaguely remember the tune. Well I thought I'd go to the grave to never here the lucrative song that I'd been searching for for over 3 decades. Until this summer by freak chance! Money mile!

I have always loved this song. Alison Moyet is amazing and terribly understated. But, I think otherwise. Great Album and great memories. Thank you for uploading.
