Alison Moyet - Blue Lyrics
Another northern sky
Another motorway parade
Another day like this
Whatever will be will be
And we will be in Shrews bury (do I have to go)
Do I have to go
Could I ever stay away
And you never know
Tonight our luck could change
And we'll be flying all the way (going all the way)
A late point and I'll be laughing
And Saturday won't seem so bleak
With you, Blue
Ever a stepping stone
We're so unfashionable
But I'm not with you for your stylish hair
Or the seaside air (if we ever get there)
Tell me we've acquired a striker (Stanley)
And a lucrative sponsorship came through (on a free)
Will you, Blue
Can we not buy someone famous
And pull a crowd we can't contain at all
All true, Blue
Maybe we'll never tread the grass that grows around your feet
And you let us in for weighting tables like we live to feed
And not to eat (but we get a seat)
Three points and the living's easy
And every day's a Saturday
With you, true blue
Saturday

GREAT TUNE - ONE OF THE BEST TV SERIES EVER !!!!!!!!!! (PLAYING THE FIELD)
Playing the field 😍
listening to this is cool
Playing the field, "What A Great Show". Kay Mellor the genius. Shazza Was My Fav, And She Was Class In Burn It As Well. She Was Fit. Lives In LA now. Wonder If they would make a series 6? I'd love that. Still watch all 5 series today.
Hard to believe it aired nearly 20 years ago.
And it only seems like yesterday, great drama.
still cool tune
cool track
great song i tried to find on a record but couldn't did she ever release this song
It's on the Deluxe edition of Essex released this year
I love this song I got it off playing the field and fell in love with it.
I just have always likes Alison Moyet and really like the show and Shrewsbury is a town I love it's just a few miles from where I live didn't know the song was about football soccer I understand it more now :)
douglasduncan100 Yes, Alison is a Southend FC fan and she wrote the song as a tribute to them. The BBC decided to use an extract of the song for the TV series, Playing The Field which ran from 1998-2002 about a fictional women’s football team, the Castlefield Blues, which based on a real life women’s team, the Doncaster Belles. The last episode of the show had a longer version of the song in the end credits.
"Playing the Field" is one of my favourite tv shows of all time. I'm amazed they only made 5 series of it and even more that the fifth series is unavailable on DVD. It would be great if a remake could be made ... perhaps set in New Zealand (my country) !!!
The use of it as the theme of Playing the Field was part of the reason it wasn't released as a single. It is actually a reference to Alison's support for her favourite club Southend United, which is why there's mention of Shrewsbury, 3 points etc.
theme to the bbc series Playing The Field from the late 90s
mine to mate :)
Southend (my team) hardly ever win at Shrewsbury .. or anywhere else come to think of it :O(
