Alison Krauss - When God Dips His Pen Of Love In My Heart Lyrics

When God dips His love in my heart

When God dips His pen of love in my heart
And He writes my soul a message He wants me to know
His spirit all divine fills a sinful soul of mine
When God dips His love in my heart

Well I said I wouldn't tell it to a livin' soul
How He brought salvation and He made me whole
But I found I couldn't hide such a love as Jesus did impart
Well He made me laugh and He made me cry, set my sinful soul on fire
When God dips His love in my heart

Well sometimes though the way is dreary, dark and cold
And some unburdened sorrow keeps me from the goal
I go to God in prayer, I can always find Him there
To whisper sweet peace to my soul

Well I said I wouldn't tell it to a livin' soul
How He brought salvation and He made me whole
But I found I couldn't hide such a love as Jesus did impart
Well He made me laugh and He made me cry, set my sinful soul on fire
When God dips His love in my heart

He walked up every step of Calvary's rugged way
And gave His life completely to bring a better day
My life was steeped in sin but in love He took me in
His blood washed away every stain

I said I wouldn't tell it to a livin' soul
How He brought salvation and He made me whole
But I found I couldn't hide such a love as Jesus did impart
He made me laugh and He made me cry, set my sinful soul on fire
When God dips His love in my heart

Does anyone have the sheet music for these harmonies. They are amazing!

    R.... P....

i think its a GREAT pic....GOD created those breasts and that's where they babies get their dinner....and the SONG is even better...Alison is great and she does a fine job on the song.

  5. n.... ....

Jose, you have no taste nor spiritual discernment...

  6. B.... M....

First thing I saw was the boobs.....great testimony

  7. S.... B....

Honestly, if you think this beautiful lady has a thing to be ashamed of about her body, you are broken. Not everyone automatically equates flesh with the things you are so uptight about.

    S.... B....

A Christian lady should dress modestly, anything else does NOT glorify Christ Jesus

    S.... B....

@whiskymikeable God doesn't care how we dress. Adam and Eve were naked.

    S.... B....

@Charles Nicholas "Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire,"

    1 Timothy 2:9 ESV

    you're the best Allison

Such a beautiful song. Such a beautiful passion. Such a beautiful voice. Such a beautiful message. I wish the majority of music out there was like this.

  10. D.... W....

victorkrauss alissons brother is playing bass on this Jewell

    D.... W....

Closed my eyes and listened to this masterpiece. Caught myself playing air bass. Man, that swole-up-fiddle player is just killing it, I thought to myself "turn the screen back on and comment on that dog-house playing" but I didn't know who it was; until now. Thanks David.

  11. D.... G....

    she does great singing

  12. R.... A....

Who says you can't praise the Lord for her wonderful breasts? Lighten up people!! (By the way, excellent version of this song.)

  13. d.... ....

@karen peele. The bass player on this song is Viktor Krauss....Alison's brother. He played with Lyle Lovett's Big Band for many years and is a great jazz bass player. He has his own band and plays his own original compositions but has played on dozens of recordings with singers such as Kenny Rogers, Mary Chapin Carpenter. The Indigo Girls, BJ Thomas and Shawn Colvin.

  14. M.... R....

I agree with Deann Rose..give the sexy image a rest, and be yourself. So happy that John Cowan, Bela Fleck,Pat Flynn and Sam Bush didn't choose that route..

    M.... R....

You must be a person of great value. I agree this look doesn't not fit the music. God don't need his children to be sexy, he need them to be holy.

  15. B.... W....

Her boobies really don't look bad at all - what could be wrong with them?

  16. K.... C....

good singing but bad picture for a Christian song thumbs up anyway thanks, ken

    K.... C....

she is beautiful. breasts are beautiful and natural!

    K.... C....

    but, that's my opinion!

  17. J.... K....

Well, Stop lookin at her boobs and start doing somethig for the Lord!
Lets Stop pointing fingers and Start feeding and loving tbe poor of this World! ><)))">

    J.... K....

"A little leaven leavens the whole lump." Check out her YouTube song On Heavens Bright Shore. You lose your witness when you give in one inch to worldly ways. Yes we are all sinners saved by grace, but when we deny the power of God in our vessels by lowering the standard it brings nobody to the foot of the cross.

    J.... K....

This is worlds apart from her and Union Station singing "Jesus, Help Me to Stand" a Capella at the front of the stage without mikes in Santa Clara in 1994.

  18. M.... S....

I love that It's a gospel song and all you see is her boobs.

    M.... S....

check my upload "Painted Chapel...Alison Krauss sings "When God Dips his love in my heart"    More appropriate visuals for this beautiful spiritual

    M.... S....

Guess it depends on one's mind whether that is "all" one sees.

Well if you were listening to the words, her boobs would be the last thing from your mind... Sorry for the inconvenience... I'll be praying for you and for her to wear a few more clothes... I love you and Jesus does too <3

  19. J.... S....

Great song and a wonderful version.

  20. D.... R....

While I find the version of the song you posted my absolute fav..........seriously? You have to show her half bare-breasted? Really? PLEASE CHANGE!

    D.... R....

@ChopinLover it is a christian song so yes change it

    D.... R....

nothing unholy about breast it's people's minds that are messed up

    D.... R....

Christians have breasts too, and anyway she's not showing much. She's wearing an evening dress; that's how some of them are designed. You're probably one of those people who think mothers should be forced to breastfeed their babies in stinky public washrooms to spare other people the horrible sight of a mother feeding her child in the way that God and nature intended..

    D.... R....

Deann Rose Oh please!!God gave her those breads that are 90% covered. Worry about something important

    D.... R....

Deann Rose PRUDE! Just because she's a Christian doesn't mean she's not a woman. She has boobs that's how it works! Jealous much?

  24. K.... P....

I would love to know who is playing bass on this. Anybody out there have an idea?

    K.... P....

If I am not wrong, I seem to recognize the voice of Suzanne Cox singing together with Alison Krauss. That would probably mean that she is singing with the Cox Family.
In this link, you can see a video of a great concert by Alison Krauss and the Cox Family, in which the first song is precisely "When God Dips His Love in My Heart"

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwNWymLditc

But the concert is only from a couple of years ago, and the studio version of this song may have been recorded a long time ago, even in the 90es, since their voices sound younger there, and they know each other from their early years. So, the bassist will most probably not be the same as in the concert. But you may research on the Cox Family and, with a little luck, find out.

    K.... P....

Oops. I wanted to reply to you and I replied yesterday in someone else's comment. Anyway. I have just found the album where she published this song: "Now That I've Found You: A Collection" (1995)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Now_That_I%27ve_Found_You:_A_Collection

But apparently, she just added the song there from a previous album that she made together with The Cox Family: ""Everybody's Reaching Out for Someone" in 1993.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cox_Family

So, I guess the bassist must have been Lynn Cox, if Wikipedia is right.

If you want to listen to a slightly less sweet and melodic but more passionate version of this song, watch this concert. It's the first song. It's only a pity that the sound is a tiny little saturated, but the concert is great imho.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwNWymLditc&t=297s

But the girl you see in the concert is not the one who played the bass in the studio version. That was 25 years ago. And the girl in the concert must be about 25. She is the daughter of one of them.
