Alison Krauss - Maybe Lyrics
Yesterday the odds were stacked
In favor of my expectations
Flyin' above the rest
Never fallin' from the nest
Tuesday came and went and now
Maybe it's for the best
I can live alone, I guess
Maybe I can stand alone
Maybe I'm strong as stone
Even though the bird has flown
Maybe he'll fly on home
Forgive me if I'm keeping you
Apart from better conversation
Trying to sort the whole thing out
Tell me that I'm smart enough
To deal with all the information
Spinning inside my head
Every word he ever said
Maybe I can stand alone
Maybe I'm strong as stone
Even though the bird has flown
Maybe he'll fly on home
Maybe I can stand alone
Maybe I'm strong as stone
Even though the bird has flown
Maybe he'll fly on home

Eyes and voice of an angel, Allison breaks my heart
One of the few AKUS songs with an electric guitar.
Don't know what the guy did but he didn't even get to leave with the bags he was packing...whoa
Don’t be stupid ! Nobody in their right mind would leave her . Fake news ! 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
Her husband DID! From what I gathered he was an alcoholic. I feel SO sorry for Alison that it breaks my heart when I hear her sing songs such as this and know what she has gone through but that's life and EVERYBODY has to have heartbreaks during their lifetime.
Now this is the kind of break up song I can relate to.
She's hot
My God, she's so good it's scary! What a woman, what a band!!!
Used to listen to this song every day over and over when I was hospitalized for my eating disorder back in 2001. It get a lump in my throat every time I hear it!
such a heart breaking song. whoever wrote it sure had a broken heart...
This song was written by Gordon Kennedy and Phil Madeira. This song is so haunting to me. Listening to her backing up her own lead vocals, and the mix is just beyond words for me to describe. That one moment you hear the vocal mix (and layering) at 2:41 is so sultry and smooth.
check the 3;31 mark
If this doesn't make the hair stand up on the back of your neck, brother, nothing will.
This is one of my favorite Alison Krauss songs, but it's much better performed live. It's slowed down and it gives you a much deeper feeling of just how sad the song really is.
I love this song!!! Alison you are a very talented vocalist as well as song writer!!!
Alison does NOT write ANY songs....She has covered this in multiple interviews, that she is not a "poet" or "song writer" at all...Arranger, producer, etc., yes, but no writing.
Alison Kraus rocks. This is a beautiful song that inspired me to write a vocal arrangement of it for my senior recital back in 2006 (you can hear a portion of the arrangement 2:52 into my vocal arranging demo on youtube). The original songwriters are Gordon Kennedy and Phil Madeira, who have written for a virtual Who's Who of contemporary artists.
Great vid, great song !!
