I love every song they touch, just incredible. My little babies are now 11 years old, but i still dream my dreams with them and this music. I WILL get a dobro and learn to play it someday, awesome.

This speaks straight to my heart.... it really is not Country and Western.. it's a song so true of love lost and the meaning of life (even if you can't remember your password)

Yeah, nobody else's version has Jerry Douglas so they all just lose. I love Waylon's version, but that's as close as it gets. How can you touch all that dobro? Can't.

Joshua Mervis Probably because she changed the chord progression on the first verse, second bar of the song. I’ve listened to many versions and this is the only one that does that. All other versions I’ve heard make that chord change on the fourth bar.

Nobody has ever made claim to this song, but as far as I'm concerned, it belongs to Alison Krauss, Union Station, and my  beautiful baby girls. They're now 7, but still babies as far as I'm concerned, and I will always dream my dreams with them, my little darlings...love this song, and so do they.

I prefer Collin Raye's version, but this is good too.

Seriously, if I called Verizon and got Alison Krauss, and not some Indian guy, I probably wouldn't want to burn down their buildings and strangle everyone that ran out. Customer service lines could learn from this. Don't play modern shit-pop music, put on AKUS and people won't hate you so much. I might even make it through a DMV line with the right music.

Yeah, between her voice and the fantastic instrumentals, especially Jerry Douglas on the dobro, this version is unbeatable, and it's damn hard to beat Waylon at anything, but I think there's an edge here. Nobody else need apply, seriously.

I love this song by Alison Krause. Such a pure, sweet voice.

I hear Jamey Johnson did a good version, wrong. As I suspected, new country blows. Waylon is/was awesome. Alison Krauss and Union station are incredible and brought a new dimension to this song. New country just fagged it all up and it pisses me off. When they write their own songs they suck, but at least they don't screw up other people's good songs. Think they should just stop making country music, delete the last 5-10 years and play all the decent stuff that came out before. There's been some good music done in recent years but it's far from the majority, and of course there was some crap done a while ago too, but same rules apply.

why look for a different version? i listened to Waylon's, because he's the original, and i love Waylong Jennings, but you just can't compete with the voice of an angel. i will not listen to any other version, ever. especially when you consider the instrumentals in this version, there's no contest.

going to listen to waylon's version, screw the rest, but i don't think anyone in the world sounds better than allison. she could sing damn near anything and it'd sound better than damn-near anyone's version. hands down. i'll duel for that statement if anyone would like to take me up on that one.

@KurtSmurf you are absolutely entitled to your opinion, but i completely disagree. I listened to Raye's version and there is simply no comparison! Raye has a good voice. Alison has an AMAZING voice

Waylon did it best (my opion) - but, the different versions of the same song are great, the music was a little different each time - Susan Anton was a little up beat - it's just a great song ......I hope a lot of people do the song....
