Alison Krauss - Dark Skies Lyrics

I don't need a perfect lover to hold me in the rain
Someone to ease my pain when I feel blue
If I lost you to another, think I'd drown out here for sure
Won't you stay with me and be my only cure?

Dark skies may cloud my day
But that don't bother me
As long as I can hold you close to me

I don't need a part time lover to leave me in the cold
With empty arms to hold when I need you
Tell me that there is no other, send the cold wind from my door
Give you all my love and more if you want me to

Dark skies may cloud my day
But that don't bother me
As long as I can hold you close to me

  1. J.... H....

    Friggen sick pickin

  2. H.... f....

I saw her back in the early 90s. And now it's 2018....😵

  3. J.... S....

Alison Brown (banjo), she is so pretty and I love her hair cut.. This song is my all time favorite..

  4. l.... ....

How does this video have 10 dislikes? This is bluegrass perfection!

  5. k.... k....

    She's awesome! The band too!

  6. J.... S....

Alison rocks that fiddle with the best of them.

  7. C.... ....

Alison Krauss phase 1. I love this version. Alison (both) are on fire.

  8. C.... C....

SON...SON.. Tim kicks this one OFF!!!!!

  9. J.... S....

Truly a great song, just needs to be longer..

    J.... S....

I solve that by playing it twice!

  10. s.... ....

Allison is superb as always but I also applaud the guitar, fiddlin, mandolin, banjo  and bass. Thanks.

  11. B.... Y....

    Tim is a guitar monster!

  12. K.... S....

    Incredible!

  13. H.... D....

Alison is SO adorable at this age! She's only gotten better

  14. h.... ....

Can you imagine being her child and getting sung to sleep every night? When I hear her voice I can't imagine angels sounding any better.

  15. J.... G....

Adam Steffey can play the mandolin, can't he?

  16. J.... G....

Anybody that can play like that can wear whatever he or she wants, no problem!

  17. J.... G....

And what I want to know is why don't we get to see her on TV sometimes? This band sings and plays great music.

  18. J.... G....

Their two-step music is the best there is, I think. I love it and can't sit still when they play! I wonder why Adam left. I know he liked Alison. Check him out in "New Fool"! Dan Tymanski can play guitar and mandolin too and possibly Dan's versatility and great harmonies may have led to Adam leaving, but Adam is a pleasure to hear play also.

  19. H.... D....

    what does "whinny" mean?

  20. H.... D....

What a wonderful woman Alison Krauss is....

  21. D.... T....

@crawdad2006 How about Ron Blocks T-shirt? Looks like he's gettin' ready to cut the grass.

  22. E.... G....

@ekudds He sure is, I spent a week being taught banjo by him, and he surely is a great player, teacher, and guy.

  23. e.... ....

@Edthebanjo No offense taken Ed. As far as Stellings go, Alan Munde is the man!

  24. E.... G....

@ekudds I don't think I'll bother; I'm fairly sure he will be okay with it.
I was simply making a light hearted joke about the extremely powerful stelling banjos and how id classify it as a deep, masculine sound. Sorry if it wasn't funny...
I am a huge fan of her too, and Sierra Hull, no offensiveness was intended...

  25. e.... ....

@Edthebanjo Ask Geoff Stelling if he minds that Allison Brown plays (or used to play) a Stelling! He's probably okay with it.

  26. k.... ....

@hannananana As far as women pickers go, check out Sierra Hull on the mandolin. If you're not familiar with her, get ready to enjoy!

  27. o.... ....

@Edthebanjo that "girl" has won an IBMA award for banjo player of the year as well as a Grammy...so I think yes, she can play whatever she wants, especially since it was probably custom made for her. Women can play the banjo too, thank goodness, because there sure are a lot of good women pickers out there!

  28. R.... E....

@stdguage Well, regardless who is playing with her ... she changed-up her style a bit over the years.

  29. R.... E....

This is an oldie! Luv it!

Just saw Alison Brown in concert ... great show!

  30. D.... M....

@plunky123 Yes you’re right. But the old sound is gone the one I really liked.

  31. p.... ....

    @stdguage

You can if you take the 1991-1998 lineup (Ron Block and until Adam left). ^^

  32. E.... G....

hmm... should girls be allowed Stellings?

  33. J.... M....

Nice song. Alison is not your usual perfomer. Something about that lady???

  34. J.... D....

    Steffey is a beast.

  35. D.... M....

This is the band Alison Krauss should have now in 2010. You cant beat this sound.

  36. k.... ....

Alison Brown is one picken gal the best I have ever heard.

  37. f.... ....

Yeah this was Union Station, its been through a few member changes though

  38. b.... ....

so many good things in one video
    all the musicsion are amazing

  39. J.... S....

    Adam Steffey's shirt!

  40. A.... P....

And this was an earlier version of Union Station.

  41. A.... P....

In 1991 Alison Brown left the group I guess to form her band and then Ron block came in. in 1994 Tim Stafford left to form Blue Highway, Dan Tyminski came in. In 1998 Adam left to go with the Issacs and Jerry Douglas came in. Barry of course has been there the whole time.

  42. M.... F....

Can anyone explain why AK got different side musicians between this group, Stafford, Steffey, Brown & Bales & the current group, Union Station. Was this group w/ her also called Union Station?
Thanks for the post of her older work & thanks in advance for an answer to this question.

  43. K.... N....

Alison Krauss and Alison Brown look like they were audtioning for Timbuk 3 with those shirts

  44. X.... ....

she's amazing... though also has the eyes and stare of a blind person.

  45. a.... ....

She's got the voice of an angel...

  46. d.... ....

What were you thinking with that red pok-a-dot shirt???

  47. J.... C....

    Bluegrass girls rule!

  48. L.... L....

I have to agree with you on that one, there's something stellar about their sound here, Alison's voice was still fragile and highly emotional, and the instrumental backup is tasteful, driven but subtle, my favorite kind of bluegrass. Not that I don't love the rest of her musical career, just that the balance was pretty much perfect with these guys...
It's great seeing this old footage, thanks again Bluegrasslibrary !

  49. J.... O....

Thank you so much for sharing this awesome performance from my most favorite girl singer! (smiles)

God bless you and her always!!!

Holly in East Tennessee (a fan of her since 1994)

  50. j.... ....

With Tim Stafford on guitar,Adam Steffey on mandolin and Allison Brown on banjo, this is the best formation of Union Station....Of course J.D.could have done a break or two but it's o.k....!!!

  51. A.... P....

Brown was there until 1991 when Ron Block stepped in. His first album was Everytime You Say Goodbye released in 1992

  52. d.... ....

I prefer Jeff White's intro from the album version to what Stafford plays here.

  53. A.... P....

    I love that drive

  54. r.... ....

There is no doubt that Alison idolizes Dolly and I remember Dolly saying that the first time they met Alison broke down in tears. I totally agree with jesusakuschick that Alison has grown into her own since then and from a vocal performance view has long surpassed Dolly. If there is a better bluegrass or country vocalist on planet earth, who is it?

  55. T.... ....

    yes, you can.

  56. T.... ....

You can hear Dolly's influence on Alison.

  57. L.... C....

awesome bluegrass from one of the most beautiful voices.

  58. w.... ....

    now.. That's PURE!
