Alison Krauss - Away Down The River Lyrics
Baby dry your eyes
There's no need to cry
Cause I'll see you again
It might be a while
Before you understand
[Chorus:]
I'm just away down the river
A hundred miles or more
Crossing over Jordan
To the other shore
I'll be standing waiting
With all who've gone before
I'm just away down the river
A hundred miles or more
Will help you to recall
They're not there
To make you sad
But to remember
All the good times we had
[Chorus]
[Instrumental]
When it's time to leave
You're gonna feel the mountain breeze
And the snow will fill the stream
And carry you to me
[Chorus]

voice of an angel
Perfection personified
I picked this song for my cousins funeral... a beautiful song for an unfortunate occasion
I just love the way she uses her fingers to emphasize what she is singing and the rest of her beautiful body to keep in touch with the rhythm of the music!
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! Thank you Alison and the others :)
Thank for this post , I do like this song. Please post Windy City album if you have.
Away Down the River
Alison Krauss
Baby, dry your eyes
There's no need to cry
'Cause I'll see you again
It might be a while
Before you understand
I'm just away down the river
A hundred miles or more
Crossing over Jordan
To the other shore
I'll be standing, waiting
With all who've gone before
I'm just away down the river
A hundred miles or more
Now the pictures on the wall
Will help you to recall
They're not there
To make you sad
But to remember
All the good times we had
I'm just away down the river
A hundred miles or more
Crossing over Jordan
To the other shore
I'll be standing, waiting
With all who've gone before
I'm just away down the river
A hundred miles or more
When it's time to leave
You're gonna feel the mountain breeze
And the snow will fill the stream
And carry you to me
I'm just away down the river
A hundred miles or more
Crossing over Jordan
To the other shore
I'll be standing, waiting
With all who've gone before
I'm just away down the river
A hundred miles or more
Sublime.
This song was played at my uncle's funeral today. This beautiful work of art will remain in my heart and mind forever. Thank you for your blessed voice.

A miracle song and such a calm, pacifying performance from Alison. Thanks for sharing. Just can't stop listening to.
This has been wonderful to see all of these pictures of my sister Louise AND HER FAMILY. THIS IS WHAT STEVE AND I HAD PLANNED TO DO WITH ALL THOSE SLIDES AND JOHN MCCONAGHY PUT ABOUT 1500 ON "MY PICTURES" FOR SOME OF BLAND HARVEY*S GRANDCHILDREN TO ENJOY SEEING THEMSELVES 1950-1960'S. WE NEVER GOT THE PROJECTOR FOR THE PICTURE SHOWS. JOHN MADE CD*S FOR ALL THE FAMILIES. MARY LIB 8/15/2017
It's just such a beautiful song. And Alison has such an angelic voice. I'm so glad she loves singing sad songs.
And I'd want this beautiful song played at my funeral too...

Love to hear her sing
Beautiful and hopeful lyrics ! Alison has such a passionate angelic voice. You can the feel the Spirit of Christ on her.,God Blless her always!
The Spirit of Christ on her - definitely. She's special is our Alison.
Her voice is honey...
I have been so blessed to have been around to hear that angelic voice and a back up band bar none. She is one of only a very few artist whose "other" songs, the ones that did not make the charts, I can listen to with just as much joy
God Bless You! Things are moving now for the Gathering. Love You Sister!
