Alice in Chains three-legged dog self-titled whatever you want to call it album. Holds up today I mean and really heavy really dark!!!! Awesome just has really unique sound you know and doesn't sound dated.. I mean I know that Alice in Chains is back and Jerry Cantrell is very essential to the singing as well but it especially for example Grand you know with him singing in the opening part and then Layne coming in I mean they just messed well so good that in my opinion this was the last Alice in Chains record.. but very underrated album I know that it did do well in sales Platinum wise but you know dirt it is regarded as like the best album you know and I mean I think all the albums are great but I think this one gets over overlooked a lot more and another good one is Alice in Chains sap album

Layne's vocals on this one sound a lot like "Died." You can sense a little weakness and less power. His vocals in this era had to be enhanced digitally due to them being weakened.

Yes Layne's vocals were diminishing in power along with the rest of his body, but not only did the studio digitally enhance the vocal volume on his tracks but Layne tracked and tracked and tracked vocals on top of each other which took crazy skill to do as a singer, and created a "new" hauntingly immense sound that was Alice In chains until Layne's death.

Chains FOREVER! the greatest band of all time, however Dirt IS the greatest release of ALL time, Layne was on top of the world and taken from us so young, I miss you Layne truly an amazing act!

@subhash record All previous recorded efforts all are great, regardless of Layne being effed up. There's a confidence factor on this album within the band here. This is what you would call a "throwaway song" filler for that matter, but its not. I would like to hear the cut songs from this album one day and compare to this awesome track. I hope there is some cut songs still out there in the ether from the self titled.

oh i suppose i should say, i grew up half at germany and half at bellevue/seattle.. then college at seattle U.. even college was great years for grunge music to me.. i was in college not only at seattle U however from 1999-2005, sadly my touring seattle electronica-based rock band disbanded this year in 2005, my mother was terminal ill, i felt she needed me therefore i moved to her at arkansas then.. we still play music together when possible however the electronica-rock is dead now.. my band was one which began this then with only few others.. possible if i had not had to leave doing vocals and composing we may have made much money and have had a bigger label than the small record company at seattle at this time, possible this style of music could still be popular today.. i suppose now it could* be classified as industrial type of indie however indie is too wide a genre range.. first label does say most how my band then sounded.. now we play more metal, punk, grunge.. mixes with industrial type any genre.. always jazz twist as most of us went to jazz school in california 1998-1999/2000.. there is a guitarist famous now whom i went to jazz school with.. no, will not say who.. however they are certainly one of the most talented musicians i know!! i am happy to have privilege to work with them, have since 1999..

Born in 2000, I'm a newer diehard fan. I was introduced to AIC by listening to Would? and never looked back since as I finished there whole discography.
