Alice In Chains - Nothin' Song Lyrics
Began this take at 7:38
Head hit the board, enough that it aches
Wonder should I be working so late
Began this take at 7:38
Head hit the board, enough that it aches
Wonder should I be working so late
Began this take at 7:38
Head hit the board, enough that it aches
Wonder should I be working so late
Wonder should I be working so late
Well the nothin song sticks to your mouth
Like peanut butter on the brain [2x]
Nothin ever stays the same
Nothin, yeah nothin, nothin, nothin
Went outside to give all a break
Wearing cowhide, steak on a skate
Back inside, Sam throw away your cake
Went outside to give all a break
Went outside to give all a break
Wearing cowhide, steak on a skate
Back inside, Sam throw away your cake
Back inside, Sam throw away your cake
Well the nothin song sticks to your mouth
Like peanut butter on the brain [2x]
Nothin ever stays the same
Nothin, yeah nothin, nothin, nothin
Gotta finish so I can awake
Feed the cat as she spreads all the waste
Snap her neck or trade in for new make
Gotta finish so I can awake
Feed the cat as she spreads all the waste
Snap her neck or trade in for new make
Snap her neck or trade in for new make
Well the nothin song sticks to your mouth
Like peanut butter on the brain [2x]
Nothin ever stays the same
Well the nothin song sticks to your mouth

Alice In Chains Nothin' Song Comments
From what I've heard/read, this song was ready in terms of music, and when they got together to rehearse it, Layne hadn't come up with the lyrics, which made Jerry really mad and had a fight with him, "sending" him to write said lyrics. So Layne basically didn't give two shits and wrote down whatever the fuck he wanted and was like "fuck this". Which kind of explains the lyrics of this song. IDK.
And nothing ever stays the same
The nothin song sticks to the mouth...Like peanut butter on the brain
Layne Staley and Grunge in general at its finest in this song
Happy birthday man. We’re still rocking on
Will is good singer, but Layne was good artist.
Layne wasn't just a good artist, he was a prodigy
LOL Duvall is a good artist himself, great composer too! The only difference is that Layne is one of the best vocalists ever!
Snap a neck!?
why not
Nothin ever stays the same...
If ever you meet someone who wants to know what grunge is show them this track.
Kick ass!
Like peanut butter on the brain 😄
Does anyone else hear a Zeppelin influence here?! Regardless, this song blows my mind!!! The lyrics are kinda nonsensical, but the harmonic melody is fucking amazing!!! I can't help it, but this is one of my favorite Alice tunes, especially the vocal intro.
LYRICS ARE REAL AND IN METAPHORE ,MY FAVORITE THERE IS NO SUCH ALICE IN CHAINS SONG ALL ARE EQUAL CHEERS
Began this take at seven, thirty eight.
The harmonies in this song are what make it awesome, so haunting and beautiful all at the same time
ft michael jackson 2:42

Damn, this album gets wild.
It's really dark and kinda depressing
Its their best one.
@mr anonymous I dont get depressed from it.
Im already depressed, and this helps me cope.
Among their best work.

Gotta finish so I can awake
Feed the cat as she spreads all the waste
Snap her neck or trade in for new make
Snap her neck or trade in for new make
The chorus always reminded me of a jingle from a 20's commercial.

@Goblin Rabblemaster I am not replying to the reply of said not comment.
Pretty heavy song about writers block.
From one Nothin' to another: Sometimes, a noose is a new beginning
I totally ganned this take at seven thirty eight... Didn't know ya Layne, but I miss you!
I have a feeling this would've been amazing live.
For sure man
USED TO HANG ROCK WITH A GUY: HE WAS FAR OUT: BEST DAMN ROCK HANGER I EVER SEEN. HE LOVED THAT ALICE IN CHAINS.
was his name Joshua Collins ?
Or Jeremy?
Aside from the frogs at the end, I love that riff going into that ending chord, just legendary.... really wish I could turn back time rn
I've listened to this at 07:38
Blasting this song with the windows down at a stop light causes the people next to you to grow these looks on their faces as if they smelled a fart.
@Turbo Lag Is Foreplay I'm not sure what got you so upset. I only made joke about a great song and it shattered your fragile feelings.
Hahahaha
wet farts are the worst
If they don't like it...fuckem.
"Sticks to your mouth like peanut butter with the CHAINS!"
nothin ever stays the same...
I love this song it's like taking a 10min. break from work on a hard day.
Nothin' Song is somethin'! See my clever word play? Jerrys guitar sounds like a blender in the chorus❤
2:42 best part when layne hollers like that
My mam maw had a dog, got hit in the early 80's chasing a car. Was maimed. Then she chased a telephone van out of the driveway in the late 80's. A vet volunteered to take her leg off for free, after it was badly injured again... Addiction will kill us all... (album cover)
Fucking layne can sing about a pile of steamy shit and it would sound fucking awesome!!!!
AAAAAAAHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEE
Songs like this and So Close are why the new Alice in Chains will never measure up to the old one. William Duvall is a great vocalist and lyricist, but their last album was all droning from start to finish. You couldn't tell where one song ended and the next began. And every ballad Cantrell's written since 2002 has been a retread of his song "Angel Eyes."
I like stone, i Barely heard the full album but most are good. I can't for the new album!!!
ROTTEN APPLE new album is killer
Im not impressed by their last album one bit either, however black gives way to blue was amazing.
This thread sux ass. Shoot Katemine... KHole... Gaze into their empty eyes......
It's just the same ole trip...
BGWTB and TDPDH were amazing imo. I really wasnt a fan of Ranier Fog tho :(
Layne’s lyrics were always “out there”
Heroin will do that.
John Layne genuine and original. Heroine may have helped block any unimaginative inhibitions
@EyeAmTheBeast heoine blocks social living becuase your spiritualty makes you fell youre not desiable there becuase of the way you talk ,ill leave it with that
Im here
Well the nothin song it sticks to your mouth like peanut butter on the grain ahhahahhhheeeeeeeeeeeeee, nothin ever stays the same
no its peanut butter for layne
You are all fucking idiots writing stupid fucking shit on YouTube and I find myself right here with you all. I'm ready to die.
@Chris no it's peanut butter on the stain
beanut butter on the brjjjjhycvhfhpouhshx@!#13"^%
Matt Martin woah there, chill.
i heard a frog sound at the end of the song. Its continuing onto the next and penultimate track, Frogs
This is a common occurrence with frogs...
Very observant. One does not Simply hear the Frog
I hear a frog outside my window right fucking now and I'm trying to sleep & got Chains in the background.
This is Typical Staley Lyrics. Cantrell has No Contributions on this 1
A good thing
They were an amazing duo but totally diff
Layne was mocked and slapped around by the media after all of the hits he wrote on facelift and dirt. Even caught shit after jar of flies. So, you could say Laynes lyrics didn't get any darker, but still very un-orthodox. I honestly think songs like this, and "head creeps" etc , are a shot back at the media for the shit they gave Layne, kinda like "oh you thought those were drug ridden lyrics, here ya go fuckers" edit: personally love all Layne's work also
Layne is the GOAT of the 90s music
garrison0532082 Lmao!
Grunge Rules. Staley . Cobain. Young. Arm. Cornell. Hamilton
Keenan? Tool is grunge with odd time signatures
Andrew Wood too!
Weiland
@Logan F he's right.
AiC sound overall is more closely related to the early Stoner rock sound.
Alice rules all!!!!
