This song epitomizes how I feel about my life at 50. Fortunate yet filled with self hate. I’m pretty sure that Mr. Jerry Cantrell will go down in history as one of the best motherfucking songwriters in the history of this kind of music. The man has somehow tapped into the most painfully beautiful way of expressing his feelings through a musical note that I’ve ever heard. Somehow a person I’ve never met knows exactly how I feel. Year after year after year. Thank you Jerry Cantrell. I wish I could of been there with you guys.

Alice In Chains will go down as one of the all-time greatest alternative rock bands. Jerry Cantrell is a genius. Hopefully they're nominated for the Hall of Fame soon because they deserve it! The quality of music they're producing at the moment puts their peers in the shade.

Update my devoted alice fans. Too the new and classic aic fans. As some of you may already know, i have been working on a alice a chains book on fan support, thank you to the band and my own interp of my fav from their collection. At present i finally have some stats for you

Dirt. 9,000

A lot of water under this bridge folks, and it aint getting easier but i started it in 2013 and its been a long road and just like alice, i have endured much pain. 3 of sisters , bff died during this process and of course since they were writing their own stories for my book i am forced to write them in mine. And yes i know there are doubters out there but i do believe in what i am doing, it feels right and it is time. I got 18 thank you letters from fans telling their own stories for this band. I am determined. It is way overdo. I know some of you wont be crazy about this idea, that just a given in human nature
It doednt matter what those reasons are either, but hopefully some of you will change your mind and believe in what i do. I tjink we all agree that we do have the best interest in representing ourselves, that is the fans as this is really not a work for me, its a work for US. Fans are the lifeblood of a bands rise to the top, and as that is a fact we need sonething to showcase how critical we are!!!
So i will keep fighting, and fighting, and fighting to get it out there.

I decided to self publish it as it seems the best way to control the content and keep it exactly how should be, respective of the work of layne, jerry, mike starr, mike inez, sran and will.
Note i will not be including the dino album as nothing in there spoke to me about layne, and since this work was done in his honor it needed to be dropped. Black gives way to blue will be as it is a testament to the weight of his work and the importance to his brothers both a phenomenal front man and an awesome friend, collaborator for jerry and his loss was indeed devaststating for ALL!!!😭💟

I hope you will look into this work. I jave def represented the band with honor and respect. The fans that contrubuted their own stories and thank yous i am so grateful for your generious and support to my cause.

I got a real big vibe of Facelift when I heard Never Fade, but this kinda brings that feeling full circle. This album obviously has its own sound and is its own album but its almost as if they took all the best parts of all their music and put it into this wonderful masterpiece which I can go on a limb and say is one of the greatest albums of all time. 10/10

Every Alice in Chains album has that "one" song that just floors me. "Love Hate Love," "Am I Inside?" "Angry Chair," "Don't Follow," etc... And now it's "All I Am." This song brings me closer to tears each time I listen to it. Simply beautiful.

Cantrell has proven that his songwriting has reached a level, that few artists have the ability to reach in their lifetimes. This album is THE best album I've heard in decades. I hope that he receives a lot of recognition for this by his peers. It's amazing. This song in particular.. it just glues me to my chair. I can't even function, and do shit around the house. Every time i hear that end guitar im waiting for it to drag me into a painful solo but get left with a feeling of being unfulfilled. Crazy being as the song is over 7 minutes and one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard.

I was actually unimpressed with this record originally. Now having meditated on it for a couple days, this might be the strongest record of the DuVall era. DuVall and Cantrell have solidified their song writing and singing abilities to extraordinary levels, this record is so deep, psychological and introspective. I'm pretty damned embarrassed by my initial impression. These guys really can do anything.

I had to reassess my original thoughts still so classic aic girl i was quick to judge. They will never sound like they did in those old records with layne. That time has passed, and oddly enough they are men not boys so the focus changes too add to that they are all sober so dirt part 2 isnt in the works.

As glorious as those early records were, brilliance and self-destruction sadly came in the same package for Staley. You're boys to men analogy is perfect, they're still telling the same story, its just a more matured version.

Hell, AIC needs to do a country tribute record. Perhaps, Alice In Chains "Into The Dirt, A Tribute to Brooks and Dunn". Lol. Jerry Cantrell has a very strong voice. He can do country music for sure! Hell, I'd like to see AIC create a ballad with George Strait, who can do backup vocals with William DuVall, and Jerry Cantrell!Lol.

This honestly might be one of their greatest compositions ever. Absolutely love this track.

Well...honestly I find AIC and PL musically more similar to each other (with the exception of PL's death metal albums/songs) than is AIC music in comparison to the other "so called" "grunge" bands (with the exception of some Soundgarden songs). To me AIC music has almost nothing in common with Pearl Jam music for example.
