Alice Cooper - Wish You Were Here Lyrics
I bought some postcards
But it ain't funny
I would have sent a souvenir
But they took all my money
It's pretty warm down here
And I'm having a hell of a time my dear
Wish you were here
Having a hell of a time my dear
Wish you were here
I tried to phone ya
I tried to call ya
Long distance operators
They only stall ya
They just appall ya
And I'm having a hell of time my dear
Wish you were here
Having a hell of time my dear
Wish you were here
Started out on a nice vacation
Left the station right on time
Now it's turned to near frustration
I'm just a prisoner in time
Can't get a ticket
To get me home dear
They just don't have too many flights
From the twilight zone dear
So don't forget to feed my cats
Spot and Jerome dear
And I'm having a hell of time my dear
Wish you were here
Having a hell of time my dear
Wish you were here
Having a hell of time my dear
Wish you were here
Seen all the sights here
I'm getting lonely
I'd show you all the film I took
If they would only
Let me go home
Dear sincerely
I'm having a hell of time my dear
Wish you were here
Having a hell of time my dear
Wish you were here
Having a hell of time my dear
Wish you were here
Having a hell of time my dear
Wish you were here
Having a hell of time my dear
Wish you were here
Having a hell of time my dear
Wish you were here

I LOVE TO WISH YOU WERE HERE.
THIS SONG IS SUPER.
4:07 this guitar tune is my favorite part.
Listening In 2019 like it just came out shit holds up.
Remember how those 8-tracks used to always Ka-Chunck over to the next track in the middle of a song. My Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album was a nightmare. Some hipsters to this day fetishically love the medium!
Remember where the clip was on this 8track
50watts, baby.
no "video" ever made a this??
Thankfully no
Only Cooper can do this 4:27
Don't make a stranger of your self remember the coop
being without my studies ..lol
was'nt real sure till I caught myself with a third copy ...... I Busted myself & me dont Appreciate.
I love this song. I never new why it was never played on the radio..... Alice Cooper said he didn't remember making this album. I think it was his best. Narrative arc, multiple genres, humor, and incredible musicians. I deepened the grooves of my copy. I had it on 8track, LP, and CD.
Great Tune 🤘👽
Bad asks song the best
Yes 8track days
I was born in '76 and that's what I remember first and foremost. I could just plug a brick into the player and awesome stuff would happen.
I'm just a prisoner in time! 😉
No one like alice, but you old time metal heads may like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJiiGXFaqvY&list=RDyJiiGXFaqvY

Pretty cool tune! Two albums on Spotify, iTunes.
Me gustan todas las canciones de ese disco de Alice Cooper.
I had asked for a Kiss album for Christmas. My brother unwrapped it and repalced it with Goes to Hell. He feels guilty for it now. istill have the Alice album. He knew I liked Cooper and he did'nt want me to have Kiss-he is older and the gift was from grandma. I sent a note to my grandma saying thanks alot for the wrong record.
Dealing with cancer at the moment,I think this song says were im at at this time,,,love it
@ the rabbit. I tell people that if I ever go into a coma.just play some Alice and I will wake up. Even now when I hear Alice I feel Alive. Good luck with the cancer my friend.
Nothing like some Alice to help you through all this. Best of luck to you, wishing you a full and permanent recovery friend 👍
I hope you're doing well.
damn, this is my favorite song on the album, or maybe tied with the title track as my fave. this is ONE. BAD. AZZ. SONG.
I love the half time part
this song is fucking cool
Someone brought back a defective "Alice Cooper Goes to Hell" cassette when I worked at a record store in 1986. Somehow the record company put the tape in upside down so it played backwards straight out of the package. That was when Public Service attention whores were blaming music for all the problems of the world. Judas Priest killed my son! Helter Skelter made Manson kill Sharon Tate, etc. Zappa said it best, "There are more love songs than anything else. If songs could make you do something we'd all love one another."
mos def is zappaesque
gardensofthegods ....yes !!! ...and pakish john on bass ??
I thought this was a beyonce tune, this guy does a better job !
I grew up with only Welcome To My Nightmare in the house, guess that's why it'll always be my favorite. That and my real name is Steven...
Walter White same but it's been easy to learn to like his other albums :)))
When I was a teenager, I was pinstriping my dad's truck, and I had Welcome playing on the radio. My friend, Stephen, who lived across the street came by. When "Steven's" mom started calling during "Steven", he was yelled back, "In a second!" Then the call came again. "I'll be there in a minute!". My father and I were laughing. The track sounded exactly like his mother when she would call for him.
Allan Swartzberg kicks ass on the drums on this song!!!
Allan Schwartzberg.
Was pakish john on bass ??
11 people have lost their fucking mind.
the tune in the beginning of this song reminds me of a porn movie
Not enough Wah-Wah.
With ron Jeremy?
will always love Alice
absolutely the best album in history
I totally agree with you Kathy. I even like this album better than " nightmare " and that's really saying something
Epic Album.. one of my all time faves
wish I was there; 1970's
70s Drive in movies Roller skateing with the girls Partridge Family songs. I went to Catholic elemetary school, half 8th grade was drinking & smoking, I had my eye on girl that looked like Steavie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac.
sounds like good times !
As a teenager it was great. Listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Arrowsmith, Black Sabbath, Robyn Trower, and Alice Cooper. Played bass in high school rock bands. Hung out at
the video arcades, body surfed at the beach, rode mini- bikes and motorcycles. Drove my Mustang and Z-28 Camaro. Thought I looked cool in my bell bottom jeans. I liked the girls trying to look like Farah Faucet. I loved my teenage years so much I was actually depressed when I turned 20
started out a nice vacation...
Incredible song. Bought this album in 79. Classic
I had this on 8-track tape in 1976, I was 16 . . miss those days
TheBennie102103 tape 86 for me
I hear ya, but the 8-track is about the only thing I don't miss from the 70's
I thought I wrote your post. I had the exct same experience
I had the album at 16
Bought the album when I was 18 (it had just come out), had a bunch of TDK, SA-C90s...recorded it on one of those so I wouldn't wear out the record......Welcome To My Nightmare was on side A.
I think I'm the clear winner here.
One story was:
Alice Cooper wanted Vincent Price to pose for the album cover.
Vincent was not available to to the artwork because of scheduling conflicts.
But Vincent Price guest stared on Michael Jackson's "Thriller".
TheAudivisioner thats true but I think it was another Cooper album
Vincent Price did guest on Welcome To My Nightmare on the intro to Black Widow.
HOLY FUCK!..I owned this album when I was a kid and haven't heard this cool fucking tune in almost 40 years!
Holy Fuck is a pretty cool instrumental band. See if you can check them out sometime.
Welcome back!
Me too, miss those days bad! Closing my eyes now and gonna listen to my fav, "Go To Hell" 1000 times! :)
I was 13 when this album came out.I bought it and snuck it up to my room so my southern Baptist parents didn't see it .cranked it up on my head phones and loved every scarry moment of it!lol.I still have it.
I was 14 When I bought mine...listening to the same album right now 40 yrs later..I feel 14 again !! love the Coop
i listened to it when i was 13 too. I played it so much Mum started to like it lol
terri hooks; I use to listen to it in the car with my dad. Alice Cooper rocks and this album is by far the best rock opera IMO.
one of my favorite albums ... I love this song ! :)
