Alice Cooper - Who Do You Think We Are Lyrics

I'm machinery
With a semi-automatic heart
I'm unclassified
I terminate, I tear apart
I'm always there when you think I'm not
I'm razor sharp and I'm white and hot
My finger squeezes out the final shot
Say "Goodbye"

No integrity
No conscience, I'm just sold and bought
I'm insanity
I'm a camouflag-ed work of art
I've done some things I really can't describe
I've made some mouths open pretty wide
And I am licensed - trained and bona fide
Say "Goodbye"

Who do you think we are
Special forces in an armored car
Who do you think we are
We don't care, we don't care

I'm carnivorous
Can't count the flesh that I've been through
Never sick of this
I'm red and white and black and blue
I'm always there when you think I'm not
I'm razor sharp and I'm white and hot
My finger squeezes out the final shot
Say "Goodbye"

Who do you think we are
Special forces in an armored car
Who do you think we are
We don't care, we don't care

One of the best albums ever....and then DaDa

It's like Alice Cooper channeling Iggy Pop and a whole new beast is born. The so called "blackout" trilogy (I don't count DaDa, Alice was in the process of kicking the uppers, booze, etc.) was as disturbing and creepy as any other period in AC history. The music was (for the time era it was recorded) relevant blend of punk, new wave, garage rock, hard rock, shock rock, goth, glam, etc. Alice might have been strung out on cocaine smoke and booze, but he made a few "dirty diamonds" during this time. I would say DaDa is an essential addition to Flush the Fashion, Special Forces, and Zipper Catches Skin even though it's technically not from the darkest drug addict Alice Cooper. He was trying to find his way out of the woods at the end and he took a couple years off to clean up and rehab after DaDa was finished being recorded. Bob Ezrin came back into the fold for DaDa a couple years after he produced The Wall for Pink Floyd. Alice wanted to make an elaborate concept album to reflect a bit on the blur of of his early 80s debauchery (Former Lee Warmer, Pass the Gun Around) and link it to a loose theme of insanity, violence and dysfunction laced with schlock, humor, and sarcasm (Enoughs Enoughs, Dyslexia, No Man's Land, I Love America). It's more of a random collection of schizophrenic diary pages than a focused concept theme, but the musical atmosphere and dream meets nightmare lyrical content holds together an eclectic AC album. It never really approaches the heavy guitars, squealing synthesizers, and chaotic, speed fuelled lyrical assault of the blackout trilogy. It was an attempt to make a serious, cohesive artistic statement by an artist who was struggling with focus and addiction. It meanders off on a tangent in places, but it works. The same could be said of Special Forces, but I think that album had it's own theme separate from the war/military stage show and machine gun attack of the opening *Who do We Think We Are". It has a dark, creepy atmosphere throughout, and the songs blend together like ingredients for a deadly poison.

This album had such a creepy vibe to it, you could just sense that he wasn't right when he made it. This is a pretty cool tune though, it kinda rocks. Prettiest Cop On The Block was sort of amusing, but I didn't really get into the rest of it. Definitely even weirder than Flush The Fashion.

  25. m.... k....

this is one of his best songs by far

  26. S.... F....

Special Forces is so underrated!!! I’m so glad he did this song on The Eyes tour...was definitely a surprise and loved it!!!

    S.... F....

The Eyes tour? What and when was that?

    S.... F....

That's what I love about Alice. He always plays a couple you'd NEVER expect to hear!

    S.... F....

What was The Eyes tour? What year? Please let me know. That's what I love about Alice. Everytime I see him he always plays something you would have NEVER expected! I saw him last year and he played we're all clones

If you’re a fan of Alice and have a record player, buy “Special Forces” on vinyl! Sounds so much better than on phone!!

  30. C.... P....

By far my favorite Alice Cooper song.

    C.... P....

    cool me to

  31. B.... K....

I'm all over Flush, Zipper and DaDa like it's my job. But Forces? This was about the only song I could get into from it. The cover of Seven and Seven Is turned out okay, but Alice's worst is still better than a lot of others' best.

    B.... K....

Vicious rumors? Skeletons in the closet? Prettiest cop on the block? You're a movie? Generation landslide '81? This album is chock full of goodies.

    B.... K....

@Damon Willis prettiest cop has an excellent riff. The rest of the album? I don't know. It just doesn't jump at me like FTF, Zipper and Dada. It's still an important piece in the Alice cannon.

  32. J.... K....

I'm over there when you think I'm not. I'm razor sharp and I'm white and hot!

    J.... K....

its almost bob dylan-esque isn't it? amazing.

  37. L.... M....

Went to the concert for this album in '78...great show...must say that hearing the approaching choppers in surround sound while cooked at a concert CAN be a bit unnerving for awhile.....

    L.... M....

    It came out in 1981.

    L.... M....

You're right Luke...my mistake on the date...but it WAS 36 years ago....saw the concert at what was(and may still be) the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland Maine....used to go to several shows back in my 20's,so I get messed up on some of the dates.....all I clearly remember about it was the opening helicopters & how incredibly loud it was in the civic center....and how much smoke was floating around the place..and not much of it came from Alice's smoke machines.

  38. M.... R....

where do you think KISS got the idea of make up

    M.... R....

Michael R. Branco same place as Alice. Arthur Brown lol

    M.... R....

    James Kapolka Yeah him too.

    M.... R....

    I agree totaly

  39. k.... m....

I got this on vinyl. Found it in the cut-out bin about thirty years ago. I love this album.

    p.... ....

it's all good, no bad songs, never boring, an all round top album!

    p.... ....

Same story with me, found it on sale in Iowa City back in the 80's.  It was a damn good album.  I only met one other person who knew about it.

    p.... ....

prokesuk Yeah, This one pretty much bombed but I love it.

  43. h.... ....

I was in the military during the late 70s early 80's and we played the shit out of this album hahaha It is a fun album you gotta admit.

+hurleyinnh Bought this while on TDY to Saudi Arabia in 1980 as a bootleg cassette. Definitely is a ''fun album.''

  45. S.... R....

A very underrated album by AC. As is 'Zipper..' and 'DaDa'.

    S.... R....

    Stevie Ramone agree,

    S.... R....

Dada out of these 3 was the weakest for me, Special Forces Tour was amazingly cool and different. Zipper really has a comic side, his lyrics are awesome. Love these albums.

    S.... R....

This and Billion dollar babies best 2 albums... IMO

    S.... R....

Special Forces and DADA are great, zipper catches skin not so much.

    S.... R....

DaDa is great, listen to 'Pass the gun around', 'Fresh Blood' and 'Former Lee Warner'
