Alice Cooper - Pass The Gun Around Lyrics

Sonny wakes up in the morning feeling kinda sick
Needs a little Stoli Vadka, needs it really quick
Sees a little blood run from his eyes
Feels a little hotel paralyzed

Pass the gun around
Give everyone a shot... give everyone a shot, you gotta
Pass the gun around
And throw me in the local river, let me float away

I wake up watching cartoons... the television's on
There's a couple of party balloons and all my money's gone
She was just a reason to unwind
And actually the last thing I could find

Why don't you, pass the gun around
Give everyone a shot... give everyone a shot, you better
Pass the gun around
And dump me in the local river, let me float away
float away, ah float away

Pass the gun around
Give everyone a shot... give everyone a shot, why don't you
Pass the gun around
Throw me in the local river, let me float away

Sonny wakes up in the morning, there's a stranger in his bed
Someone's pounding on the hotel door, he wishes he was dead
I've had so many blackout nights before
I don't think I can take this anymore

Why don't you, pass the gun around
Give everyone a shot... give everyone a shot, why don't you
Pass the gun around
Give everyone a shot... give everyone a shot, we're gonna
Pass the gun around
Give everyone a shot... give everyone a shot, we're gonna
Pass the gun around
Give everyone a shot... give everyone a shot, you gotta
Pass the gun around
Give everyone a shot... give everyone a shot, you gotta
Pass the gun around
Give everyone a shot... give everyone a shot, you gotta
Pass the gun around

Alice Cooper Pass The Gun Around Comments
  1. R.... G....

This has a Lou Reed-esc macabre theme to it.

  2. M.... ....

    this slaps though

killing in the name of democracy

  3. s.... ....

Its very appropriate that the last line of this song, which is the final lyric on the entire blackout period before Alice took some time off to get clean, is "Ive had so many blackout nights before, I dont think I can take this anymore".

  4. A.... S....

this.. the guitar, the whole album is "spitzen klasse"... no matter you don't like or remember it yourself, Mr Cooper.. we love it !!

  5. J.... S....

One of his very best albums. I guess alcohol and drugs are great when you're an artist. He got clean and started releasing one turd after another. Constrictor, yuck

  6. T.... ....

Ah, I didnt know this song was on this album....I first heard it on a "hits" collection and thought it was great/hilarious. I might have to listen to the whole DaDa album now.

  7. A.... &....

If this guitar solo was done by David Gilmour for Pink Floyd, you'd never hear the end of praise and acclaim. On Alice Cooper, it's almost unknown and shrug the shoulders

  8. A.... &....

A real Pink Floyd/David Gilmour feel to that Dick Wagner solo

  9. J.... B....

been sober almost 9 years and still think about getting a drink.

    J.... B....

    don't do it brother

  10. T.... ....

    Great song... love the solo

  11. j.... ....

Such an underrated album. even Alice is said to dislike this album.... I LOVE IT TO DEATH...:)

    j.... ....

Dick Wagner was Writing most of the Music from Welcome to my nightmare to Da Da . And also wrote later tunes like I Might As Well Be On Mars and also on some on the early albums like billion dollar babies and Muscle of love . Alice never gave or gives Dick enough credit . Dick was a very underrated Genius , and should be given much more credit , a real shame in my book .

    j.... ....

BoB Ezrin produced A lot of wonderful albums.. also a man never given enough credit ..IMO.@parabot2

    j.... ....

Yep Ezrin + Coop + Wagner = Genius

    j.... ....

I love that mountain with those four big heads

    Alice Cooper

It has been suggested that this song was really Cooper's cry for help.I can only imagine how much it hurt everyone who was close to him to see him sink as low as he did. It's truly amazing he himself eventually came to the decision he didn't want to carry on that way anymore.

  14. M.... ....

i always believed this track was about addiction to alcohol and drugs with both depicted as being the gun.The whirlwind of losing your mind and life to it and wanting to give up on that life because getting clean just doesnt seem to be an option.Thank fuck Alice pulled through.

  15. t.... .....

    "pass the gun around
    give everyone a shot"
    creepy

  16. K.... H....

    Wagner legend

    K.... H....

Kim Holland  So cool in Buffalo, NY 70s early 80s 10 years of concerts 4 every summer at Bills Stadium. That Buffalo called SNOW CAPITAL OF USA because of 1977 Blizzard. It was a bad storm winds 80mph 19 feet of snow City & Schools closed for 3 weeks. It snowed every day in January. Folks were trapped in there houses because of snow drifts 20' high. Even now we average 10 feet almost every winter from Lake Erie. Its crazy of all Citys near 5 Great Lakes why does Buffalo get the most snow. At least we have the Lake for summer fun. Always WHITE XMAS IN BUFFALO

    K.... H....

Kim Holland . absolutely . his song's written with Alice ,1975 thru 1978 are just as brilliant as any from the original band , in my opinion

  17. K.... ....

The single most underrated album thus far in our passage thru the cosmos - phuquit, even the man himself don't recall it!

    K.... ....

    hell yes, your so right.

  18. m.... c....

Wagner smokes on this and Alice sings the truth about alcoholism

    m.... c....

It's the real deal. Scary, but real. Amazing good considering.

  19. J.... B....

Dick Wagner takes it back to the "Welcome to my nightmare " vibe on this one AND quite a few others on this album. This one has a "steven" sound..and "former lee warmer " solo had a "only women bleed" vibe.. I like it

    J.... B....

I had the great pleasure of interviewing Dick Wagner. If you'd like to listen, you can find the interview by clicking on the Guest Index on the menu at www.PlanetLudwig.com ~ Enjoy!

    J.... B....

I find Former Lee Warner more reminiscent of I Love the Dead than Only Women Bleed. It's got that GOTHIC and ELEGANT quality.

    J.... B....

@Steven Ludwig I had a chance to listen to that interview recently, and it was great. Thanks for sharing that. Probably the only 1st hand insight ever given by anybody regarding this mysterious album.

    J.... B....

@Jeff Kenny Thank you for listening, Jeff!

  20. L.... B....

heady music gives you feels all over!!!!

  21. J.... T....

    Nice guitar solo

  22. H.... ....

    Great album

  23. C.... A....

Mick Marrs copied this solo on Home Sweet Home. Theres no way he wasn't aware of Alice's work. The phrasing and delay are just too similar. This album was just released when they were writing Theatre of Pain. It did more than it is credited for in shaping the Hair Metal movement. bad fuckin ass!!

    C.... A....

I've not heard Home Sweet Home until now, I'm really surprised.
I love Dick Wagner's guitar solo,
So seeing Youtubevideos of "Home Sweet Home" guitar solo
    is nice surprise....

    Thank you for this comment!

    C.... A....

It's legit?? Only 12 people bought this album

    C.... A....

    @Stanley Eisen perhaps

    C.... A....

Mick openly hates alice, kiss, and the like...

    C.... A....

    They are very similar

  24. E.... A....

Dick wagner was sick guitar player

    E.... A....

    awesome guitarist...

    E.... A....

And a very close friend of mine. He recorded a song I wrote for him just before he died, which I was on as well. A very wonderful guy. I miss him a great deal.

    E.... A....

+Rod Underhill Best melodic/phrasic hard-rock soloist _ever_ in my opinion. Rest peacefully Mr. Wagner.

  25. Y.... 0....

favorite song of this album, it should be
    "Pass the Cake Arouund"

    Y.... 0....

More like "Pass the Coke Around" as we've come to learn.

  26. S.... ....

my favorite song from the early 80's albums, Saw the Mugshots did a cover that sounds good surprisingly so had to stop in and listen to this classic again.

  27. u.... ....

Very interesting how this was the last song on the last album before he cleaned himself up for good after this "Blackout Trilogy".

    u.... ....

Henry Krinkle Trash was his best selling album. Hey stoopid, and last temptation both good albums. I liked some of his 2000s stuff. Brutal planet and dirty diamonds both good. The new album paranormal is very good

    u.... ....

    Henry Krinkle lol

    u.... ....

Truly kinda funny..but without constrictor , DaDa would be all we would have of Alice . Constrictor was the comeback album

    u.... ....

Blackout quadrilogy. There were four from his freebasing days. Flush The Fashion, Special Forces, Zipper Catches Skin, and DaDa.

    u.... ....

@wade Garrett Disagree, it's cheesy as fuck. Just my opinion though.

  28. T.... ....

This was probably my favorite song off that album, and it's one of the best hangover songs ever.

  29. V.... R....

One of the best Cooper songs Ever! Best guitar solo ever!!!!!

    V.... R....

The late Dick Wagner on guitar...

    V.... R....

Wagner was always best whenever Alice wanted that real ARTY style of guitar playing.

    V.... R....

I prefer hello hooray myself, but it's in my top 5. For some strange reason I went from poison to halo of flies to the black out albums in my late teens. It's a set of albums that take on new meanings as time passes. I finally get hitting rock bottom in many ways.
