Alice Cooper - My Stars Lyrics
My stars so far no one's callin' me home
Space brain vagabond livin' on my own
Come all ye faithful you know all you people should come to me
I'll make you arms work and I'll make your legs work I'll make you see
Ladada ladada ladada ladada ladada whoa yeah
You'll pay very dear for this banishing deed
The power alone stored in my little hand
Could melt the Eiffel tower turn the sphinx into sand oh whoa oh oh
Oh no thar she blows spreadin' crazy news
All night cannonball loves to light the fuse
And everyone blows up and nobody grows up to fill dad's shoes
But that doesn't matter 'cause no little boys really wanted to
Ladada ladada ladada ladada ladada aah whoa whoa whoa whoa
I stared at the squall line I stared at the fault line
I see a funnel black there I think I see a crack there
All I need is a holocaust to make my day complete oh oh oh ooh

Alice Cooper My Stars Comments
Bob Ezrin and Dick Wagner, Glenn Buxton did not play guitar on this song (period)
Back before Alice Cooper became a person. Back when Alice Cooper was the name of a rock band.
The guitar parts in this sound so much like what Craig Chaquico did with Jefferson Starship.
You dislike this? Shame on u.
Did Dick Wagner play on this track?
alice rules the 70's ! Amazing frontmen
I haven't listened to this album since about 1973. It's much better than I remember.
The drumming.....
Dennis Dunaway tells in his book that they had a helicopter drop thousands of panties over the Hollywood Bowl when they played there on this tour. Genius publicity stunt.
Dick Wagner – lead guitar on "My Stars"
that piano
drives this songt
Love, love the over all sound of this album! Whoever produced it is a god damn genius.
It says ^ there ~ Bob Ezrin
…. that intro ….
Playout from 4.00 onwards - piano chord variations over drone bass - genius.
This sounds better every time I hear it -
Klaatu barada nikto...
Outstanding.
Neal Smith on drums people ! His marching band rudimentary
style will always be known & makes this song plow forward.
the coop!
I have not since, heard the tone Glenn
got from that SG Custom.
I am so glad Neal had it restored
after it was stolen decades ago.
Neal receives it on a UTube post.
I am glad he fought to keep his friends piece
of music history.
It's not Glen, it's Dick Wagner.
First time ever i noticed the reference to The Day the Earth stood still in this, with the "Klatuu barada nikto" Reference (towards the end in the background)
Klaatu barada nikto.....everyone
The best intro ever:......My Stars "A.C.ooper"...Dreammare "Uriah.Heep"...IMAO
Are you kidding me!?
someone said Alice Cooper "backed-up" Motley Crue..!.
WTF!? The 80's Hair bands & theatrics owe everything to Alice Cooper.. W/O Alice we wouldn't have had KISS!! & so on...
Everyone after him that ever did a video or wore make-up owes this man...& band EVERYTHING!!!
In the Rock&Roll annals & history... THIS MAN IS A GOD!!!!
He started in the 60's!!!!! & IS STILL HERE!!!!!
back-up...?...my ass!!!!
He did it as a show of respect to the guys in Motley. That's really all there was to it,really nothing wrong with it.
It was an in joke.
Spent every penny on Bultaco dirt bikes back in the 70's. But when I started listening to Alice I sold them for Marantz, Sansui and Crown equipment to listen to this song the way it was supposed to be heard. I was never sorry. They were the masters and made excellent quality recordings
This was my favorite song back in 1972. No lie.
I love the piano that sets the stage for another instrumental gem. Alice’s voice is so fantastic. Thar she blows....
In the words of sopranos a hit is a hit and that will never change
1:40 Meh? holy fudge of rockin mothers...AND fathers <3
Does the swelling guitar solo get any better than this? Wow! No wonder I loved this in high school.....
Anybody think Alice has captured an a human physical experience?
You do realise the band wrote the music and Vince just wrote & sang the lyrics, don't you?
Like Uriah Heep on Dreammare.....one of the best intro in Rock&Roll history........EVER.................
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQd0BAQlL2M
Most don't realize the magnificent music they created. Listen to "Halo of Flies" and understand that it is a rock masterpiece.
Have to agree ...halo of flies was always a favourite. Many songs wrapped into 1
Dude that whole album! Im a killer im a clown!
This was the song that made me want to be a singer with that GROWL to his voice backed by Neil and Denis, mind you I always preferred bass and lead guess that's why after Alice got just as hooked to The Forever Missed "Lemmy"
Just a master of music.
A master piece of music.
this song and Luney tunes probably my 2 favourite AC songs
My favorite Coop song of all.
Sure genius.
Why aren't the youngsters being turned on to My Stars instead of dying from drugs?
Why aren't the youngsters being turned onto Beethoven instead of dying from opium and duels?
One of my ALL TIME FAVORITES <3
Klaatu barada nikto klaatu barada nikto LOVE THIS SONG!!!
The powerful lyrics amplify the stupendous musical tour de force, classic AC shock and awe! I especially love the line where he essentially says the pen is mightier than the sword. (stored in my little hand I'll melt the Eiffel tower, turn the Sphinx into sand).
One of THE BEST Alice songs!!!! 3:)
One of the best anybody songs!
Listening to this album in its entirety makes me wish I was back at Grace King High School back in 2015.
Long live the CooP
Pure genius.
Does anyone out there know who played lead guitar on this song? If memory serves, the album jacket credits a "Rockin' Reggie Vincent" as guest guitarist. Or maybe "Vinson"? But who in the hell is that? Never heard of the guy, before or since. Just my opinion, but it sounds suspiciously like Leslie West!
Dick Wagner
Wasn't it still Glenn Buxton or maybe Rick Mashburn?
Interview of Glen Buxton here on YouTube where he says School's Out was his favorite album because he had more freedom especially on the Blue Turk track
Glen Buxton.
According to the liner notes, Dick Wagner was the lead guitarist on this. Incidentally, the piano was played by Bob Ezrin, who also co-wrote the song.
I wish I could marry alice cooper...realistically though it would be detrimental for all involved...
OMG so funny, made me laugh reading your post, LMAO.
this is a really cool song. initially, i fast forwarded it during the piano intro, but it really starts kicking ass soon after
why is there are always one person who says "this album is underrated"??? if School's Out is an underrated album, then they are all underrated. this was a massive hit album and the title track still gets played regularly on the radio, after 45 years...
Alan Lloyd The reason Alice Cooper is considered by some as underrated is because he was considered as "shock rock" which he was, overlooking that his music had comedy and satire!
A lot of grownups at the time thought his music glorified evil when it was lampooning it. A lot of people just didn't get it!
Alice Cooper is a Christian.who has confronted his personal demons like alcoholism. But he is an entertainer who continues to do what he does best, namely entertaining his audience with lots of great music and plenty of surprises and fun.
Check out GLITTER DOGS. New music, 70's sound.
https://youtu.be/3KRDRXCPZR8
Indie music!
it might sound funny, but this would be one of my favourite albums ever, if not for the title track hahaha
An excellent song to bring you orgasm. just my opinion.
THAT is so Very Awesome Janet Lukawski*
i agree
Janet Lukawski Janet are you married? My Stars is and always will be my favorite song!
My God this is BY FAR one of, if not THEE, favorite songs by Alice! This guy....and his band....were geniuses back then. I'm not sure too many people actually recognized it at the time. God bless you, Alice and the Alice Cooper band!
They sold millions of lp's in the 70's, so I'm sure we recognized it at the time.
G Money Glad you like Alice, but I bought this in 1972 at 12 and everyone knew who Alice Cooper was back then and they actually were able to recognize their talent at that time. They were nowhere near underrated at this point, this was after Killer (1971) and Love It To Death (1970) and the single Eighteen, that really broke Alice Cooper into the mainstream and then Under My Wheels from Killer. There were a lot of young kids like me who bought these albums and singles when they were released, you listened to the radio day and night, it was played on AM (Top 40) and FM (Underground Rock) stations. They were on the covers of Creem, Circus and Hit Parader magazines and every kid knew Schools Out by heart.
Definitely unique artist.borderline insane I would say but amazing non the less.love it to death...billion dollar babies...killer ...welcome to my nigh tmare...schools out....flush the fashions all amazing albums
My girl friend gave me this album,as a gift, when we both were 14 y.o....back in the 70'
I still love the Album.....I still love her.
Life ain't shit?
Klaatu barada nikto
Greetings from São Paulo
There was so much music coming out in the 70's that radio stations mainly just played the biggest hits from groups. Back then you may not have even heard this song unless you bought the album. Some stations occasionally played full albums like a midnight special. Youtube has led me to so much music I never heard from back when it came out.
HUGE INFLUENCE
I WAS 14
THIS ALBUM ROCKS HARD JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT LEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Klaatu Barada Nikto

Can someone try to interpret the meaning of the lyrics pls?
@Jason K. Dude, it was the '70's, Everything meant nothing meant everything meant nothing.
Dick Wagner on lead guitar!
Hunter and Wagner, creme de la creme!
Klaaatu Barada Nikto.
my husband's account....I agree this was their best album. I was in highschool when they came out and I was blown away. saw them three or four times before the original band broke up. never really followed him afterwards.
Anyone still have the panties that came with the album ?
@David Mendoza Yes.Bought it in '72 and still have it,panties and all.haha
so very much under rated!
The tour for this album was awesome. It was basically a Killer/School's Out Tour since those albums came out about 8 months apart.
Please tell me more about the story I really do appreciate the whole group Detroit scene to the Cheetah club and back real fan no s*** tell me the rest of the story you can put it even under this Justin. Windley 97 at gmail.com and tell me about it please good s*** bro
Saw this live Summer 1972 OKC..perfection
Yeah man. My first concert July 72' right out of high school. Blew my mind.
@Lynn Windley Buy Dennis Dunaway's book, "Snakes and Guillotines ". He chronicles everything from the very beginning until the end of the original group in '74.He remembers a lot of details too.
If The Beatles had penned this tune it even then I would have considered it one of their best too.
Cooper kicked ass, and he still does. Musically magnificent, challengingly irreverent, sweet to the ear, and above all, thoughtful with his acerbic insights. Not bad for a man dismissed as "mere shock value". He had a lot to say, and he said it very articulately: verbally, musically, and visually. What a great artist. Don't be surprised if I ask for Cooper on my deathbed.
The original band kicked arse, in fact Vince pissed on shoes many times since the original lineup shutdown.
got this when I was 12 and still love it to death
I see what you did there.
Long Live the coop
coop rocks the father of HM
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh perfection
Love the bass on this song!
Justin Ditty, I love Dennis Dunaway, so intavative.
one of the most beautiful songs of all time. amazing sound, songwriting, and performance. by this song, when i was a kid, i was stunned. and i still am. amen. ('saint jimmy')
Just another insanely great album from Coop and Company.
yeah, what happened?
Neal Smith's drumming on this song is BREATHTAKING !!!!!!!
Neal Smith....Neil Peart Who can differentiate?
He rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who's playing PIANO? .. . that's what I wana know!
@Skulldini Micheal Bruce
@ClintexL2b Nope. Bob Ezrin. And Dick Wagner on guitar, not Glen Buxton.
Michael Savage should use this opening for his show.
Harry Clams michael savage rules!
I was 19 when it was out. Great everything!
i was about the same age! I was 18 when love it to death came out so..............
Incred... I was listenin to this when I was 12 YO. And 42 y later still am. Somethin wrong or not...
Bill McKinney I'm still a space brained vagabond. Nothing wrong with that.
Not. I'm 61 :)
na its an all time classic, like sticky fingers for the stones
55 and still cranking the coop..if its to loud your to fuckin old
@stephen kulakowski DO NOT FORGET BILLION DB.
I WAS IN SECOND GRADE IN 72 WHEN MY BROTHER BROUGHT THIS ALBUM HOME AND IVE LOVED IT EVER SINCE, EARLY COOP WAS THE BEST.
scott thegreat
Awesome!
pretty much the same story with me man,we had a elder cousin who had all the early Alice albums and Kiss albums who we got initiated by
my brother got love it too death album.. I thought at first is this some girl?? After hearing it and then got this album I have been a fan since 13 years old
This is the year my dad was born.
wondering if this is vinyl?
This is not a vinyl rip.
one of the most under rated albums of all time.there is nothing even close to this in today's so called music. I was 10 years old when this came out and was floored. then I heard the killer album, and knew right then I to here everything this band ever did.FUCKING AWESOME. I didn't see alice until 2004 and have seen him 3 times after that .some of the greatest shows I have ever seen and I have been to well over 200 concerts in the last 40 years.
Used have all those albums back in the day
Good comment but you are wrong on one account. Alice stated on the commentary on the billion dollar babies DVD, that he is proud of this song, because the band had it together before Bob Ezrin was on the scene. So the band wrote this, not Ezrin. Anyway my fav AC song and amazing lead from guest guitar player Dick Wagner.
mark robinson It’s not underrated it should have come out after their second album Love It to Death Killer than this somethings wrong one thing happened they got lazy then Billion and Muscle great
This is a bad album I think they got lazy went back to the outtakes of the first two albums pumped them out there is no way you can go from Love It To Death and Killer to this and then Billion sorry this is crap compared to those albums something is wrong with the timeline this should have been third or second album
yes and 2 days after my 41st am seeing him in iowa for the 1st time. lucky meeeeeeee. tickets went on sale yesterday the Friday the 13th.
