Alice Cooper - Man With The Golden Gun Lyrics

The man
With the golden gun
Is waiting
Somewhere
Out there
For you

But you'll never see him
He'll be looking for you

Demand
For the golden gun
It's high priced
Precise
And true

But you'll never see him
He'll be looking for you

The man with the golden
Gun in his pocket, Oh, oh
The man with the golden
Gun in his case, Oh, oh
The man with the golden
Gun in your face

But you'll never see him
He'll be looking for you
You better believe
He'll be looking for you

He-e-e-e-e-e's, The man with the golden
Gun in his pocket
The man with the golden
Gun in his case
The man with the golden
Gun in his pocket
The man with the golden
Gun in your face

But you'll never see him
He'll be looking for you
You better believe
He'll be looking for yo-ou

He-e-e-e-e-e's, The man with the golden
Gun in his pocket
The man with the golden
Gun in his case
The man with the golden
Gun in his pocket
The man with the golden
Gun in your face

The man with the go-o-olden
Gun in his pocket
The man with the go-o-lden
Gun in his case
The man who gave you the golden gun

"Alice Cooper’s pretty awful attempt at a title tune for the James Bond film, The Man With The Golden Gun, was given to Bond producers Cubby Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, but they chose instead to go with Lulu’s far more lascivious number, the raunchiest of all the Bond themes.
I think they made the right call. Some people hate the Lulu song, but it’s one of my top favorites, up there with Shirley Bassey’s “Goldfinger” and Tom Jones belting out “Thunderball.”

Love the three bars of four/one bar of three thing they lock into at the outro of the song...very well crafted stuff and as far as i'm concerned this is title track to the movie!!! <\M/>

  6. B.... C....

Should have been the Opening Song Theme for the 1974 James Bond 007 Movie The Man With The Golden Gun instead of Lulu's

  7. C.... ....

This at 0.75x speed = amazing bond theme!
Really sad they didn't use this one.

    C.... ....

    0.85x is better

Are you THEE Chip Barkhouse!?! Love your work, been a huge fan for years.

No I'm just the 'regular' Chip Barkhouse.@Joey Gaydos Jr.

The Lulu song is good too but this might have fit Christopher Lee better.

I am a very limited AC fan who is more interested in him now as DJ, golf whiz, an patriarch. I dislike this album and time period for him. That stated, this is a very attentive wise-eared crack at a James Bond theme. You can just hear the writers clicking off the major components of a successful JB song: nice hook, references to drama via a new 'chorus', reference to drama via old traditional Bond chords, and hopefully that nice hook is so strong that Barry can build subsequent incidental music using it as a threaded theme in the movie. Plus, it's nice to build in a little (horn-oriented) 'brashness' to the tune, and it should reflect modernity and coolness. This is really a good, solid alternative theme song that could have been expanded on for the whole flick. My one complaint is Cooper's voice, which is unsuited both to the individual song and to JB movies. Fans and critics would have slammed his voice. I'm surprised at how well-thought out and on the mark this tune is.

Why didn't they use this song? The movie would have been a little better if this song was used, especially throughout the movie.

  12. j.... l....

That would've been great for the movie!

  13. M.... D....

    his band was is awsome!!!!!

  14. j.... ....

The sound, feel, mood, and atmosphere of this song are indeed perfect for a Bond film. I have always felt that way since first hearing it in late 1973. A damn shame it wasn't used!

  15. A.... L....

this album is more straightforward rock, per Alice Cooper . i think this might be the best overall album. the other ones have several filler tracks in my opinion. im new to his catalogue though. after a few more listens, ill probably love every song

  16. o.... ....

Too bad they didn’t use this version... not tame enough. I was surprised they went with Paul McCartney’s live and let die in 73.

  17. b.... ....

While I am a bigger fan of Alice's solo career (just a matter of personal preference, the original band was good too), this is a really cool song though Muscle of Love is not one of my favorite Alice albums.

post dates the movie as I remember..file this with Radiohead's unused Bond theme.

  22. r.... ....

The producers of the James Bond films were idiots for passing this song over! It would have been more memorable than the one they decide to use for the film.

Merv Stent True. The Man With The Golden Gun was a mild hit for her but she was never a huge star but she was very cute.

    r.... ....

Merv Stent Lulu was also in the movie To Sir With Love.

    r.... ....

jett woodward I know that, but else has she done? 🤔

    r.... ....

Merv Stent Not much in America but she had more hits and TV specials in England and was briefly married to Maurice Gibb until his drinking wrecked it.

  23. T.... M....

Totally ahead of their times. One of the best bands with this lineup EVER!!!! RIP GLENN.

  24. C.... M....

did the group do this song for the 007 movie, Man With The Golden Gun, or was the movie made after the group broke up?

“Man With the Golden Gun” was written with the intention of having it appear on the soundtrack of the then-upcoming James Bond film of the same name. Cooper recalled in a 2011 interview:
It was supposed to be the Bond theme, but it actually came in a day
too late, and by the time they heard it, they’d already signed for Lulu’s song. I went, "You're gonna take Lulu over this?" [Laughs.] 'Cause it was perfect for The Man With The Golden Gun. It had helicopters, it had machine guns—it had the Pointer Sisters, Ronnie Spector, and Liza Minnelli doing background vocals! We went to every single one of those John Barry albums to try and invent the perfect James Bond song, and even Christopher Lee,
who played Scaramanga in the movie, said, “Oh, man, why did we take the
Lulu song? This song is the one!” [Laughs.] So, yeah, we lost out on
that one, but I still put it on the album. I said, “I don’t care, I’m
going to do a James Bond track no matter what.”

Cooper Minion,I just read an article with Alice. He said that their producer thought it would be a great idea to record it. They did and the movie people loved it. However, they had just signed Lulu to do it for the movie. The band was still together. It was on the Muscle of Love album.
