Alex Cameron - Divorce Lyrics
In the age of conversation
I guess I got the gift of gab
But when you shine you spotlight on me
My little microphone turns to sand
I've killed little baby rabbits
But I never killed a feeling
Like the one you and me had
Now did you see where my love went?
Because it ain't here in my hand
You need to check there darling between your legs
I couldn't bare another needy man
I got friends in Kansas City
With a motherfucking futon couch
I'm drinking in the dark
Because my battery's all ran out
All you gotta do is say it
Divorce
I could leave your ovulation
To meet Elon and his clan
With his batteries full of sunlight
And his cars that run on sand
And I'll go weak with constipation
From all the pills and the spam
Though we drink our Mother Energy
There ain't no woman for the needy man
Or did you see where my love went?
Because it ain't here in my hand
You need to check there darling between your legs
I couldn't bare another needy man
I got friends in Kansas City
With a motherfucking futon couch
If that's how you wanna play it
I'm drinking in the dark
Because my battery's all ran out
All you gotta do is say it
Divorce
Divorce
Divorce
All you gotta do is say it
Divorce
Divorce
Divorce
All you gotta do is say it
Divorce

I can't get over how well Alex's lyrics ride the line of humor and drama. Lovely.
Incomparable, unbelievable! Talented guy! Once, a university lecturer, where I study, listened along with a student and made a shazam to the call of my phone called "The Politics of Love" with enchanted faces! Alex Cameron, good luck to you, and create another masterpiece, such as "Politics"! With love from Ukraine.

I can't BELIEVE how catchy this is xoox
This man is coolness personified. Columbus Ohio needs you.
Nov. 13 - early enough for an old guy like me too
Do you like Alex Cameron ?
His early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Forced Witness came out in '17 I think he really came into his own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Cameron has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
In '19, Cameron released this, Divorce, his most accomplished album. I think his undisputed masterpiece is "Marlon Brando", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the Cameron himself
[raises axe above head]

This is on par with Forced Witness. Which i though was impossible.
Like for real!! I thought Forced Witness was some magnum opus but between this and Miami Memory he just might surpass Forced Witness.
Ah! So much love from KC! ❤️
Roy is a hell of window cleaner! Great video and song boys!

Alex Cameron is making the most exciting, interesting music right now. It's unique pop music written from the perspective of oddball characters–yet still feels genuine and honest.
AMEN! Serious! You nailed it!
Absolutely! What d'you think of this one? https://youtu.be/uYLBP3B0uM0
@Wons Phreely Fuck off with this self promotion

We're not worthy
This guy is awful he's just a lot of cheap big label hype
Damn and here I thought I genuinely enjoyed someones music. Glad we got objective music taste haver Anee Marie here to tell me I am wrong
@AMN2019 Nester Just someone who does not agree with you. I would also suggest you just listen to music you do like, as I think it will make you a much happier person, and perhaps a less childish one too.
Burn the witch!
How do you know she's a witch?
Well, she turned me into a newt!
A newt?
I got better.
BURN THE HERETIC WITCH!
Well stay tuned for another 8 songs due out soon💋🖕🎬
@AMN2019 Nester Go to bed
I absolutely love you guys but I really don't get what you're trying to go for on this new album. I enjoyed Miami Memory, but on that track I felt like you were trying to strike a mix of the heavier stuff from Jumping the Shark with the melodic hooks from Forced Witness, but I didn't feel like it worked out well. On this one, I felt like the instrumental didn't really go anywhere, as if I was being blueballed and there was no climax. Alex's singing sounded a little off too. I'm still gonna come see ya shows and all, because I love you, but I'm certainly a little concerned about where this project is going. That's just my opinion though, I'm sure I'm greatly in the minority. All the best to you fellas.
I found a quote Alex made for the press run of the album that was printed in Pitchfork:
“When you listen to these songs, and you're waiting for the twist, or the joke, or any kind of discomfort, I can assure you none of those things were there when I wrote them,” Cameron said in a statement. “These are true stories, of actual events. Specific but never esoteric. And graphic but never offensive. Miami Memory is the story of a couple balancing sex with contemporary family values.... It’s my gift to my girlfriend, a symbol to hoist on the totem of love.”
So my personal theory is that this is going to be a more personal album, or at least, personal as far as Alex Cameron goes, and that the arc is going to try to dive deeper into what sort of relationships he's been exploring all career. I have a lot of hope for this album. Miami Memory has certainly grown on me a ton, and is one of my favorite songs of this year so, I do come in with optomism that if nothing else, the album will have an all time classic song.
Having been on the ride since the original 8-bit online release of Jumping the Shark, I think you've got to accept that the journey isn't complete until we've heard the whole thing. Although I agree "Divorce" seems a bit light-weight compared to previous heavy hitters, this is album number three, and the third different approach he's taken to an albums creation.
#1 was external character focus - with failure being the common thread.
#2 saw his songwriting style open up to include cowriting, and many tracks started looking at more personal stories.
#3 is an all-out love-letter to Jemima.
This is going to be an extremely personal collection, and I'm sure will need to be consumed as a whole (dear god, I've just realised how bad that sounds when you recall the lyrics to Miami Memory). Put your trust in the crawfish. This is one incredibly talented dude / duo (never forget about Roy), and the ride is really only just beginning.
@Aron puma That's a nice looking interrobang.
Wash your mouth out. Final warning. Next time you're outta Roy Squad. No return. Banished.
nice tits Alex
God bless this guy
Absolutely praise be! btw what do you think of this one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYLBP3B0uM0&list=PLWehun4PmMf_mLRX5hgPa8E1qo30q5hw1&index=2&t=0s

i don't know what happened in Miami Memory but i'm glad i got you back. This song is good
Miami Memory is great... well, the oyster stuff is really scary but except for that.... :)
Miami Memory is better than this one I think.
I think it's just not for me. I like this a lot more
Miami memory was definitely more for the “Jumping the shark” people
@Kevin Nguyễn Ah i see, i'm definitely a Forced Witness guy so that explained why
@cirrus2013 dont talk bad about eating booty
How you are enlighten and enpower us.
Nice window cleaning Roy, keep up the great work. Big Respect ❤👊

Should I feel happy or sad?
Maybe both?
Also I just love songs that make me feel this way
You should feel vindicated immediately and then only after weeks of rumination start to feel the sting of regret.
Why is he not dancing?
Oh, he's dancing alright.

He is, internally
Cheers from Kansas City.
