Alcatrazz - Will You Be Home Tonight Lyrics

He's just a kid and loves to ride
Taking the freeway, driving blind
Just like a loaded gun, he pushes down the hammer
Hard to fire

In the embrace of his gasoline lover
Her sleek body wraps all around
Turns on the radio, lights up his cigarette
Takes the lights up, dims them down
A silent Geisha, the perfect seducer
Knows someone is waiting too long

Oh will you be home tonight
Oh please say tou'll be there

He's just a kid who loves to drive
To get out of sight out of his mind
He pushed the hammer down
And shot just like a bullet from a gun

Drunk on the fix of the powerful kick
As he shoots up from zero to speed
Has one more drink of the cold liquid courage
To keep on the level he needs
Soothed by the sound of the wheels on the ground
But he won't hear the tires when they scream...

Oh will you be home tonight
Oh will you be home tonight

Oh will you be home tonight
Oh will you be home tonight

Can someone suggest me some bands that plays songs that fit into the style of this one? And by that, I mean the melody, not the lyrics. It's a bit hard to explain, but I really like these calm tunes in the intro  and those asian-like instruments playing in the background, while the chorus resembles something like a "City Night" type of beat. I'd really appreciate if someone could suggest me anything worth listening to. Thanks in advance. (By the way, thanks for the upload).

If you have not already done so, check out Blue Oyster Cult. Some of their later albums (post 1980) had a similar feel. Shooting Shark off Revolution by Night comes to mind.

Journey, Survivor and Foreigner are the big 3 bands which excel in this style, especially their 80's output. I'd also throw out Aldo Nova, he's a genius. As for other specific songs with the same progression, a band called Alaska composed a tune called "Whiteout" with lush keyboard melodies. Don Johnson has a song called "Voice on a Hotline" which is very good. Eddie & the Tide with their hit "One in a Million". Fake I.D. has an excellent song called "Tears Don't Put Out the Fire", one of my favorites. And finally, an underrated band called The Truth with their standout track "Prisoner of Love" should be exactly what you want. Good luck!

not many songs have that type of moment -
Soothed by the sound of the wheels on the ground
But he won't hear the tires when they scream...
Oh will you be home tonight

This album is Graham's best work, IMHO (and all of it is excellent). Especially love the smooth leap from G to D in the "o-ohs" at the end - and then he holds them!
