Alan Parsons Project, The - You're Gonna Get Your Fingers Burned Lyrics

Watch me closely catch my eye
If you do I beg you to remind me
Who is stronger who is weak of those who seek
And don't know where to find me

[CHORUS]
Ask me why, I don't know
You ask me why and I say
Now you see me now you don't
I thought by now you'd learned
You're gonna get your fingers burned

Watch me closely understand
That what you see is only an illusion
If I'm wrong and you are right
Then I will light your darkness with confusion

[CHORUS]
Ask me why, I don't know
You ask me why and I say
Chances are you're playing with fire
I thought by now you'd learned
You're gonna get your fingers burned

Watch me closely be aware
That all I do is only to surprise you
Every move is slight of hand
And every word is planned to mystify you

[CHORUS]
Ask me why, I don't know
You ask me why and I say
Don't get fooled a second time
I thought by now you'd learned
You're gonna get your fingers burned

  1. R.... B....

1982 the Lesson of losing a hot love affair. I love Alan Parsons!!!

  2. D.... ....

A good uptempo tune from APP. Sounds a lot like Elton John if I say so myself. This made the top 40 rock charts without being released as a single...and for good reason.

  3. s.... w....

good track reminds me of Elton John s Style

  4. J.... G....

OK song, just doesn't fit in with the rest of the songs on the album at all

  5. G.... H....

Classic up-beat Alan Parsons track - luv it

Well, this is my pick for the greatest song the Project ever made.
It's completely unique in their catalogue. I mean, you have all these ambitious and well-played
progressive concept albums which are mostly all great, but then all of a sudden, they bring out
this completely unexpected gem of good time rock, from out of nowhere!

Coming after all the heavy sci-fi themes and playing cards and pyramids, the song serves as a refreshing reminder
that sometimes it feels really good to just let your hair down and boogie, dammit!

Why this was never released as a single boggles the mind. I believe Eye In the Sky was their biggest album,
and on that, this song was the obvious single, if you ask me. And you do.

I don't understand why this was not releases as a single. It was the reason I bought the album.

it made it too #22 on the mainstream rock charts in 82. A lot of times the record company never made a physical copy of a single when it's mainstream rock charts release.

    b.... c....

that way you had to buy the album….corporate treachery

I agree 100%, I bought this CD several times hoping to get a remixed or demo version of this song... I love this song better than all the rest of them! I dunno sometimes it is the song that is somewhat forgotten on a Collection or Greatest Hits Album!

This was on a single in only one country...it was the B side of Old And Wise in the Philippines in November 1982. Anyway I'm sure that if my favourite Alan Parsons Project track Silence And I (full length) had been a British single it would have been number one.
