I had no idea Pat Benatar remade this song. I thought she originated the song until reading comments people made saying how good the original is. And after hearing it I agree how good it is. Honestly, I like Benatar's version better. It was the first version I heard and I'm a huge Benatar fan. But this 'true' original version is wonderful. It's just such a good song that has the ability to 'speak' to people of all generations and walks of life. Those kind of songs are pretty rare.

The Alan Parsons project has made brilliant music. Tight music, great ballads and a very unique sound. Great singers also used.

I certainly took this song's lessons to heart. And it is good advice to live by. Because if you let your weaknesses show people will tear you to pieces and leave you to bleed to death.

Very good song from Alan Parsons Project. Do listen to it just before going to apply for a job. Since job interviewers and recruiters get more in humane by the minute.....

Thank you so much for sharing this seemingly insignificant, yet, an all-consuming painful memory. Because by doing so, you have validated and shared with millions, this turmoil-shame-fear and so many other all-consuming and crippling emotions that amount to a sense of worthlessness that so many innocents were forced to learn.

...Have you watched the movie; "The Climbers"?; 

It is a story about a team of mountaineers risking life and limb just to make it to the mountaintop (only to come back down). Personally, if I'd thought about this, I would have declared it senseless. Ego trip and foolish daring; self-induced bullying-dare.

What I did absolutely love and cherish about this film, and was so endeared by; was the unspoken, was their love and it's depth - so powerful and unrelenting! And all this, before they'd so much as touched, kissed, or given way to physical demonstration. Love was nurtured in solemn silence; a-sacred. Yet, their silence was more deafening than thunder!

So you would find depth. In the face of pain. 
In that moment of greatest fear.
You will rise and fearlessly dare pain and fear both come at you with everything they've got!

Does the potter place his crafts in his burning kilm that they might toughen and serve as bowls, dishes and cups?
Does the tree fall from chains and axe for naught? It would meet its' maker, and take its' carvers knife so that it may become a greater instrument for service?

You would accept the Winters of your grief, even as you await Spring. And you would plant a seed that with the sun's love, blossom and flower more beautiful for your grace.

From I Robot. This song was in my interpretation about the robot becoming self aware and falling in love with a human which was obviously taboo.

I realize that this one robot talking to another in the event the robot singing has been destroyed and is encouraging the remaining one to not give in and divulge that they have feelings, but...I still wouldn't mind this being played at my funeral.

Just for the record.. "I Robot" is a concept album. Or, in other words, each song on the album is part of an overall story line (quite common in prog rock, look at "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" by Genesis or "Clutching at Straws" by Marillion). So in this way, the lyrics are often meant to be taken very literally with little or no hidden meaning. I Robot's overall plot involves robots taking over humanity. In "Don't Let it Show", the protagonist has done something very wrong in the robots' eyes, and will be executed for his wrongdoing. He is simply telling his lover (or some other person) that nothing will save him, and for her own safety she must never let the robots know she was involved with him.
So, no, the song has nothing to do with depression/suicide, anything like that... It's part of a STORY. (Of course, if the song has any deeper significance to any of you folks, or if it really did help someone get through depression, there's nothing wrong with that.)

Well then : sorry for not having read about Asimov and Robots. I thought it was about viper tongues and stalking !!! Now : I have learnt something ! Deeper significance ??? Yes, it is interesting to learn about the hidden signification. But, when reading an author : everyone is entitled to have his own interpretation of an "oeuvre". Don't you think ????? This goes also for the paintings !

This is not the normal version. I had a 7" single of this, & the ending is a final orchestral D-flat major chord, ending the song conclusively, instead of suddenly wandering off into a different key signature.

This is the album version. That's why it's longer. I can recall the "Best of" album from 1983 does have the single edit.
