Alan Parsons Project, The - Beaujolais Lyrics
No clock beside my bed
Don't try to wake me
No phone upon my wall
Who's going to call
No news to shake me
Nights like the one before
I can't take no more
Beaujolais goes straight to my head
Beaujolais puts me to shame
And I don't know why I'm in this place or how I came
Beaujolais and I go crazy
Beaujolais I can't explain
But it helps me to forget the past and ease the pain
One race that I can't win
With an alter ego
One chance to sink or swim
What am I to do
One tail that I can't shake
Wherever I go he go
One circuit I can't break
It's a catch twenty two
Beaujolais goes straight to my head
Beaujolais' the one to blame
And I don't know why I'm in this place or how I came
Beaujolais will be my ruin
Beaujolais I can't complain
Cause it helps me to forget the past and ease the pain

Alan Parsons Project, The Beaujolais Comments
Just right, Beaujolais eased my problems...
I don't know why but this song reminds me a lot of the police.
Ultra-80s rock!
For those of you who are calling this your favorite APP song (raises eyebrow), go listen to Chris Rainbow's vocal masterpiece "Days Are Numbers (The Traveller)" from the great Vulture Culture album or his fantastic high harmony singing on the equally brilliant "Separate Lives" from the same record. Then listen to "Since the Last Goodbye" from Ammonia Avenue. Next to those works of art, this song sounds like a throwaway track. As for Stereotomy, the highlight of that album is "Light of the World." Great stuff!

O, so bad
and just keeps getting worse
Goes goes straight to straight to my head my head...
"Beaujolais" *is* a Claret, n'est-ce pas, iirc? Deep red, high tannic acid taste, goes perfectly with the very rarely enjoyed dead cow (but a perfect combination: prime rib roast, a claret red and locally legal marijuana!) We also locally enjoy home-town-brewed Irish Death from Iron Horse Brewery, you oughtta look it up if you haven't.
But yeah, with some fine natural munchie-inducing pain meds and some rare protein from a dead cow, I'll admit: Beaujolais goes straight to my head! Wine and marijuana ease pain!

I usually get drunk on Beuajolais just because it is such a bad wine, a shame. A good wine you get happy (not drunk) and the day after you wake up ok. Beaujolais you get sick and morning after hangover last thr whole day... That song makes me suffer...
Beaujolais is a whole region and there are (quite many) Grand Crus over there

Had to look it up because I had no idea what beaujolais was...makes the song even better knowing that it is a kind of wine :D
Simply one of my favourites ... Lucifer was the first LP I bougt by myself - as teenager ;-) THX for uploading !
The music of the Project was all but ignored by by the British media/radio stations. There still is an abundance of treasures waiting to be unearthed... if anyone can sensibly explain why this is i would be grateful.

Sad that Chris Rainbow (who sang lead vocals on this song) died just over a week ago.

i just read about it earlier. i was just hoping that when he said "helps me ease the pain." he wasn't talking about the wine, he was talking about his fame and his discovery.
The whole album deals with fame and how people react to it. This being the case, the song addresses how famous people indulge in intoxication, such as Beaujolais wine, as a means to deal with the pressure of fame, i.e. "helps to ease the pain."
Wish I could see the meaning of this song. Amazing song nonetheless.
Ryan R. It means it gets u drunk
The title of the song is referring to some alcoholic drink, and the main theme of the album is all about the troubles that come with fame, so it's most likely about someone famous drinking their troubles away
Amazing music!
cheeeeeers
