Alan Parsons Project, The - A Dream Within A Dream Lyrics

[Instrumental]

"For my own part, I have never had a thought which I could not set down
in words with even more distinctness than that with which I conceived it.
There is, however, a class of fancies of exquisite delicacy which are not
thoughts, and to which as yet I have found it absolutely impossible to
adapt to language. These fancies arise in the soul, alas how rarely.
Only at epochs of most intense tranquillity, when the bodily and mental
health are in perfection. And at those weird points of time, where the
confines of the waking world blend with the world of dreams. And so I
captured this fancy, where all that we see, or seem, is but a dream within
a dream."

Is this considered to be prog rock? I'm not sure.
I remember hearing it for the first time when I was maybe 14. The opening track knocked me out. It sounds kind of tacky to me now.

  2. A.... w....

I didn't think the original release could be improved on. Orson Welles and Alan Parsons proved me wrong.

  3. J.... B....

I don't understand how 27 people disliked this tune or Wells' reading in general, to each his/her own I guess.

  4. J.... B....

Narrated by the late great Orson Wells, a perfect choice for reading Poe.

  5. A.... C....

Thought this would be appropriate to listen to on Halloween 2019, especially with Orson Wells narration.

  6. A.... L....

Parsons was a genius and wizard with studio production.

  16. R.... B....

  28. V.... D....

I prefer the original without the benefit of the dialogue over the entry piece, though Welles does have a voice that lends itself to this.....

Love both versions, but the words are so true and fit as an intro to the intro

    r.... b....

    Both versions? I'm confused.

    r.... b....

William Clark the version without the man speaking at the beginning ^^ that was edited in the 80s i believe

  41. L.... C....

Your nuts! How can you not like to hear Wells speaking the English language?

Very very Best songs!!! Muito bom Adoro desde Criança, a criatividade supera qualquer tipinho de música chinfrim, principalmente os de efeito industrial!

  44. S.... C....

I also prefer the original version. That's the one in which I grew up with. I don't like the intro on this one.

I prefer the original version personally, without the introduction by Orson Wells. Couldn't you find it? Like Keith said below, this is the remixed recording.
