Alan Jackson - Farewell Party Lyrics
When the last breath of life is gone from my body
And my lips are as cold as the sea
When my friends gather around for my farewell party
Won't you pretend you love me
And leave you in this old world alone
I know you'll have fun at my farewell party
I know you'll be glad when I'm gone
Don't be mad at me for wanting to keep you
Til my life on this old world is through
You'll be free at the end of my farewell party
But I'll go away loving you
There will be flowers from those who cry when I go
I know you'll have fun at my farewell party
I know you 'll be glad when I'm gone
Yes I know you'll be glad when I'm g-o-n-e.

Love Alan ♥️❣️💯 Great Tribute to Gene Watson ❤️❤️❤️
Uncle William, Harrington .
My dad passed away while I was in prison. I knew about it but I didnt acknowledge or feel it set in till days later when this song played on the radio. I miss him alot.
Alan I like your version, thanks.
I really miss my dad. He left us Sept. 2017. This song really brings it all back.
They died the same day
I plated tuis aty mom and dads funeral
Well Alan I've heard that song from the late Gene Watson and I thought Who is that guy?but anyway you sound a lot better.keep up the good work Alan.
Gene Watson is still alive and still performing.
Yeah right.
love you in man
I’m having it played at funeral
The Joe Nichols version is better than this and Gene Watson's
Love the song Farewell Party and Alan Jackson
This one and he stopped loving her today he blow me away
I heard that song the other day from J oe Nichols.but you sound better at this song.I love it baby.I shouldn't say that.Because I like Joe too.
if you have a farewell party.invite me.I want to go.can I? PLEASE?
That is how I fill But I know better great song
sad to hear about your loss....good song
My uncle wrote this song and it was played at his funeral. Beautiful song
My dad told me since I was 5 to play this at his funeral and I did, despite everyone's arguments, on 2/15/16. I love you dad.
Jessika Allyn my dad wanted the same done played and I did they same thing. it was his wish and he got it
Jessika Hall way to go. Idda done the same
Allen does the best job on farewell party and on my own kind of hat I've got all his music he's a credit to his profession
My dad sang and danced with my mom and told all of us he wanted us to play this at his funeral and on 1/3/15 we did play it for him at his funeral I love and miss you dad
"I know you'll be glad when I'm gone". Why would someone play this at a funeral for someone they love?
@24 Lancelot Because it is a beautiful song. And the words are true to some people. I love it myself.
You do realize the song is meant as a guilt trip, right?
@24 Lancelot If the shoe fits. I say wear it!!!!!!
Sounds like you have a problem that you can't deal with. But...it's your problem. Nobody else's. Good luck with it.
this is a good rendition of this song better than the original in my opinion my dad wanted this played at his funeral in 2003 so every time I hear it I think of my dad keep up the good work Alan
Very well done. To say this is not quite as great as Gene Watson's original is not at all to tear Alan's recording down. You can sing this song pretty great... and not quite match Gene!
gene was hideous atrocious shitty and any other word that has the same definition of those words.
Luv this reminds me of my daddy . idk AJ. Ur a lot like my dad. Could listen to u all day long . keep it country. I'll say no more.
Alan Jacksons version is the best !!!!
Kayla Kelly I would have to agree
ME too.
I like all 3 versions
cry when I hear this awesome
Alan does gene right on this is a very good cd,RD.
No one will ever sing this like Gene, but Alan comes in close. They are both GREAT singers!!!!!
thank god because gene's version is atrocious to the fucking max
My sweet Daddy loved this song, so hats off to you J.E.Garett. with love, miss you Daddy Kitty
I must say Alan does a great version, but Gene Watson does it the best!
I LOVE GENE'S VERSION BETTER
I get the chills
I'M getting the chills now.Don't ask me why.
great but love Gene Watsons version
The user name says it all...the way it still should be!
God Bless,
Jeff :)
Always my fav!!!!!!!
It is a very true song to some of us.
Sooner or later this song is true for all of us .
I swear god there is this mechanic in my town that looks just like Alan Jackson
d0min0danc1ng he has been a mechanic and still likes to tinker with cars, etc. could be his cousin????
its not about the family being glad he is gone, it is about the dirty ole' whore he is leaving behind
look up Joe Nicholes version, IMO it's easily the best
Hello friend.........Imo, Gene has the best rendition.
The only criticism I have about Joe's version is that he chops off some of the words and that disrupts the melody.
That said, I do think Joe is a fantastic singer and I thank you for introducing him to me!
Just love Alan, he is like a fine wine gets better with age, if that is possible. He sure does a great job on other entertainers songs, like this Gene Watson one. Have 3 of this cd. GREAT JOB as always. Thank you
Love it! Thank you for sharing.
i heard a Alan Jackson song on a wsm650 am last week ,sounded like hank sr. days anyone know the name of it
In a lot of cases, I tend to like the original version of a song better simply because it's the original. I honestly can't compare this version to Gene Watson's version, though. They're both good.
Gene Watson was not the original, Lawton Williams, then little Jimmy Dickens, & seversl others recorded it before Gene, however Gene has the best version of all. and was that made the song a household name.
Sorry guys, but Alan can't sing this song half as good as Gene Watson.
He can damn sure sing it better than you . !!!!
i think alan jackson rocks this song. what great voice he has.
Dinomite.
