Alaina, Lauren - Surrender Lyrics

Mother told me, yes she told me
I'd meet girls like you
She also told me, "Stay away
You'll never know what they'll do"
Just the other day I heard a neighbor talkin' bout
Some crazy little stuff that's going round

Mommy's all right, daddy's all right
They just seem a little weird
Surrender, surrender
But don't give yourself away, ay, ay

Mmh, yeah

Father says, "Your mother's right
She's really up on things
Before we married mommy served
In the WACs in the Philippines"
Now, I'd heard the WACs recruited
Old maids for the war
But mommy isn't one of those
I've known her all these years

Mommy's all right, daddy's all right
They just seem a little weird
Surrender, surrender
But don't give yourself away, ay, ay

Ooh-whoa-oh

Whatever happened to all this season's
Losers of the year?
Every time I got to thinking
Where'd they disappear?
But then I woke up, mom and dad
Are rolling on the couch
Rolling numbers, rock and rollin'
Got my KISS records out

Mommy's all right, daddy's all right
They just seem a little weird
Surrender, surrender
But don't give yourself away, ay, ay

Don't give yourself away
Ooh-whoa-oh

Mommy's all right, daddy's all right
They just seem a little weird
Surrender, surrender

Mommy's all right, daddy's all right
But don't give yourself away
Mommy's all right, daddy's all right
But don't give yourself away, ay, ay
Don't give yourself away, yeah, yeah

I liked the song ,good job Lauren

  2. Phillip Tedesco

How do I purchase this song? It is not on iTunes!!!

  3. Jason Thompson

Here's an idea. If you feel the need to change the lyrics to a song, for whatever reason, then perhaps you shouldn't be covering said song.

    Anthony Dodd

Jason Thompson here’s another idea if you don’t like it why comment?

    Jason Thompson

@Anthony Dodd for the same reason you felt the need to call me out. The only difference is, I actually have something to say. When you change the lyrics to a song, then you change the entire meaning of said song. Also, the changes made are laughable. I would like to know why she felt the need to change them. What was she looking to accomplish, what was she trying to say? That's why I felt the need to comment.

    Tom Shaw

@Jason Thompson I totally agree with you. I also think that a country/americana version of the song is uncomfortable and inappropriate. She's a talented artist, but covering this teenage lament of punk and power pop is like doing an orchestral easy listening version of Blitzkreig Bop.

This was the battle cry to a generation of adolescents. My generation. I don't know what this version is!

    Gillian 1989

Jason Thompson this is an awesome version, she did a great cover. Never heard of this song before Lauren covered it.

You must be young then. Back in the 1970s, the band Cheap Trick made this song popular. I was only 6 years old in 1979 when I first heard this song in the film Over The Edge (Matt Dillon's 1st film). It was the first song I ever fell in love with. And as I got older, it made more & more sense to me.

    Gillian 1989

Yes, but that’s your generation. Of course her version is going to be different from the original. It would be boring if it were the same.

    @Jason Thompson I Remember that movie....I Was 16yrs Old In 1979.....Great Stuff
