Alabama - Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler) Lyrics
[Chorus:]
Roll on highway, roll on along
Roll on daddy till you get back home
Roll on family, roll on crew
Roll on momma like I asked you to do
Well, it's Monday morning, he's kissin' momma goodbye
He's up and gone with the sun
Daddy drives an eighteen-wheeler
And he's off on a midwest run
As three sad faces gather round momma
They ask her when daddy's comin' home
Daddy drives an eighteen-wheeler
And they sure miss him when he's gone (yeah they do)
Ah, but he calls them everynight
And he taught them this song to sing.
[Chorus:]
Roll on highway, roll on along
Roll on daddy till ya get back home
Roll on family, roll on crew
Roll on momma like I asked you to do
And roll on eighteen-wheeler roll on. (roll on.)
Well, it's Wednesday evening, momma's waitin by the phone
It rings but it's not his voice
Seems the highway patrol has found a jackknifed rig
In a snow bank in Illinois
But the driver was missin'
And the search had been abandoned.
'Cause the weather had everything stalled
And they had checked all the houses and the local motels
When they had some more news they'd call
And she told them when they found him
To tell him that she loved him
And she hung up the phone singin'.
[Chorus:]
Roll on highway, roll on along
Roll on daddy till ya get back home
Roll on family, roll on crew
Roll on momma like I asked you to do
And roll on eighteen-wheeler roll on.
Momma and the children will be waiting up all night long
Thinkin' nothing but the worst is comin'
With the ringin' of the telephone
Oh, but the man upstairs was listening
When momma asked him to bring daddy home
And when the call came in it was daddy on the other end
Askin' her if she had been singin' the song, singin'.
[Chorus:]
Roll on highway, roll on along
Roll on daddy till ya get back home
Roll on family, roll on crew
Roll on momma like I asked you to do
And roll on eighteen-wheeler roll on (roll on)
Eighteen-wheeler
Eighteen-wheeler
Eighteen-wheeler
Eighteen-wheeler
Roll on
Roll on...

I drove an interstate highway coast to coast in an old van. It was long & slow with plenty of time to observe. If you ever doubt this country (and really the world) moves on trucks then you need to get out there and start counting. I lost track after three days. To all truck drivers, whatever you drive, whatever you haul, particularly to my biker brother & long haul trucker "Iceman" who now is trucking the wind; my humble Thank You.
Keep Rollin
my dad has been a truck driver for 18 years go daddy
As my boss would say "Keep it 'tween the ditches"
And god bless all the truckers, keepin america rolling
Love this song. Love all the peterbilts
I absolutely love this song.A tribute to the sacrafices all truckers make by being gone from their families and missing all those moments they will never get back to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads.Thankyou truckers you truly make the world go round.
Grandpa drove
Total respect!
Truckers move America, without them America stops!!!
I'll always love this song!
My uncle was a truck driver this song was played at his funeral. He was like a daddy to me 😭. I miss you so much uncle. It's been almost 2 years without you. 😭❤️

My boyfriend and father to our unborn daughter drives an 18 wheeler, he’s home nightly for which I’m grateful but anytime he’s out I sing this song to our unborn daughter so she knows daddy will always come home to us. She knows it’s daddy’s song and she already misses him when he’s gone. 💗 grateful for all the truckers in the world who keep this country afloat by doing runs. 💗💗💗
Yes i love Truckers i play American Truck Simulator
Is it sad as a driver I teared up to this ?
Every time I hear this song it reminds me of my brother. April 1,2017 he crawled up in the bunker and went to sleep and never woke up! Miss you Dutch!
I don't usually comment...I am now 44 years old. My Papa raised me and was a Truck Driver his whole life even in WWII. He was an awesome man. I remember hearing this song on the radio while he was on the road when I was little and crying wishing he was home but I knew what he was doing. He was working and providing. I miss him but what an example he was for us. Even to this day I move out of the way for Truckers because I know what they provide for this country. God Bless.
My mom's ex-husbands favorite song we would sing it when he left because it was me and my two sibilings with mama...I miss being in the truck and it's something I've thought about as a job
God bless all Truckers.
I watch it every night because my mom is a semi driver and so is my dad
As my daddy saying all truck drivers trying to help each other and my dad would used to say as that song would go well on the highway roll on Daddy to you get back home and family, like I asked you to do roll on 18 wheeler roll on
This is one of the most saddest songs bc of when the dad kills his self bc of something that happened that no one knows about but besides that it is a good song and a sad song 😂💔😢😥💘🙍
This was made by my mom and my aunt and my uncles for my grandpa when he died

Peter's belt to VOLVO Now the Inri-Rene Power of love revenge ! How do you interrogate answer and question on Military courtmartial supreme torture courtship judgment in a sentence ?
My daddy lost his two year battle with cancer 06-08-2010. He died doing what he loved and never missed a day of work. This was the song we all listened to when he was on the road. His rig was his life and the way he took care of us. I miss him every day. He’s now delivering for god on the highways of heaven
I spent many summers in my dads semi with him. We listened to this song a lot. Sadly he passed away in his truck from a massive heart attack 4.5 years ago. I listen to this song a lot now hoping one day he will show up
Nothing but respect for the safe driving men and women who help keep this country running. Unfortunately not all truckers drive safely nor do us normal commuters. Give trucks and motorcycles space, and for goodness sake put down the phone a text isn't worth a life! I used to constantly text while driving and in 2015 I almost lost my life because of it....glad I got a second chance at life and no one else was hurt. I ran off the road over corrected went off a steep embankment through a few smaller trees "air bag deployment knocked my cellphone out of my hand it hit me in the head knocked me out cold" with a lake at the bottom where a huge oak tree broke my fall. A broken arm, concussion and twenty eight stitches in my left hand from it going through my driver side window I learned my lesson. I was extremely lucky had the tree not have stopped me I'd probably have ended up in the lake a few feet away drowned.
i chased up and down the hiways for 22 years...what are all the trucks in this video Petes...they are over rated...the W900 Kenworth it just as good of a ride and alot less money to buy...hell even the long nose International is just as good of a ride
God bless truck drivers 🙏
We got baby hazel to sleep with it

Does iny body listen to this song in 2019
Yes I do I grew up listening to Alabama and this was my favorite song
hell yea! my daddy drove for over 30 yrs
I taught my daughter's this song because I am a truck driver and my family worries about me Every time I head out till the minute I come back home. They sing it to me Every night I'm out on the road
Kasey Fortenberry absolutely. This was the song that first introduced me to country back in ‘82. I was 8 and I was hooked.
My dad drives a 18 wheeler I haven't seen him for a month
Tons of people think so badly of trucked but 100% of the stuff they own was probably on more than one truck. Truckers are people like you and me who want to make a living for themselves and their family’s. Most parents would be ashamed if they son was a trucker but it’s and honest career just like any other job.
