Alabama - Mountain Music Lyrics
[Spoken:]
"You see that mountain over there? Yeah?
Well, one of these days I'm gonna climb that mountain".
[Chorus:]
Like grandma and grandpa used to play.
Then I'll float on down the river
To a Cajun hideaway.
Drift away like Tom Sawyer, ride a raft with ol' Huck Finn.
Take a nap like Rip Van Winkle, daze dreamin' again.
[Chorus:]
Oh, play me some mountain music,
Like grandma and grandpa used to play.
To a Cajun hideaway.
Swim across the river, just to prove that I'm a man.
Spend the day bein' lazy, just bein' nature's friend.
Climb a long tall hick'ry. Bend it over, skinnin' cats.
Playin' baseball with chert rocks, usin' sawmill slabs for bats.
[Bridge:]
Play some back-home, come-on music
That comes from the heart.
Play something with lots of feelin',
'Cause that's where music has to start.
[Chorus:]
Oh, play me some mountain music,
Like grandma and grandpa used to play.
Then I'll float on down the river
To a Cajun hideaway, hey hey.
Oh play me mountain music.
Oh play me mountain music.
Oh play me mountain music.
Oh play me mountain music.

One of the best bands ever if not the best
If the eagles and Skynyrd had a baby......
Play it Jeff
Play it.
That man could pick a guitar
I’m a die hard Vermont yankee. This song makes me feel at home in our mountains; I grow up the same way.

Dude needs to pluck his unibrow
My favorite band, in 1984 for the first time I listened to this song and I became a fan of theirs, great music a great band, greetings from Italy Eu
I was almost five years old when this song came out and I was a budding musician even back then. This song gave me such a head rush of excitement when it would come on the radio! In a little over a week, I'll be 42...and this song STILL gives me that same kind of head rush! Certain songs just have that ability for me and I do think it is, in part, because I've been musical/a musician nearly all my life. I think some of us musicians see and hear things in a very unique way sometimes that other people just can't quite understand. It's nothing against those people, you understand, it's just the way it is. Like just now, for example: I got such a head rush listening to this that I experienced sensory overload...which was a bad thing at that time because I was driving...but at any other time, would not be a bad way to spend a song, eh?
Saw Alabama 3 times in concert! They were so so great! Once we went to concert, then to a bar where they had an impersonator! We dance and had such a good time all night, back in my younger days! Couldn't last that long now!
Nathan groupie right here yall
Jeff is Alabama
This is a great song brings back lot's of memories of when I was young out on my grandparents farm
Wwe mick foley

Decade to my gandfather who i lost in 2002
I love the flair Jeff has when the fiddle comes out. If I was a millionaire, I'd give 1/2 to somebody that could teach me how to do that. Not just this song but many of Alabama, George Strait, Tim McGraw, and Alan Jackson, also the song Seminole Wind by John Anderson.
Such a talented band. Won me over with Feels So Right.
Not just a great song but also the best fiddle player in the world. No tie Universe
As an old 60's-70's concert addict...I've seen everyone! (even lived inn Haight Ashbury briefly...The Filmore!) Alabama at the Minnesota State Fair is among the finest that I'll remember forever. Thanks Alabama...
Whoa . . . this is actually pretty good!
I never knew Owen Wilson was their drummer. Amazing!

South will rise again boys
I'm from Georgia and I'm African American, I love this song!! I like the pureness of it. I'm a country boy and proud of it.
I am so glad you like this like I do! I don't care if you are not like me! Half of my family is blended! We have so much fun together! God Bless and keep you safe! Love ya!
@Rhonda Boncutter,

@Tha Big Hurt PROUD TO HAVE YOU WITH US, BROTHER!!!
Congratulations, I am proud to be a Country Girl!
Good for you! Proud of you! I am a retired teacher, I love music!
Alabama has been my all time favorite band! Have loved them for years! Concerts didn't cost what they do now! A shame, some people that love them will never get to go to a concert!
no consent, no play.
Best country band of all time....they will never be surpassed.
I AM A YANKEE FROM DAYTON, OHIO, BORN AND RAISED AND I WAS RAISED LISTENING TO ALABAMA AND I LOVE THEM!!!!!! THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!
Best country band ever
This just brings back SO MANY GREAT MEMORIES of my teen years in the 80s.
This also MAKES ME PROUD TO BE FROM ALABAMA!!!
Much love from Mobile Alabama.
this is also pure country Right here
its pure country
Listening to this music makes me really sad but also happy at the same time you see my grandmother and Grandpa used to own a giant record player that you could see the machine put the record on and they had every song from the band Alabama so to hear this reminds me of them my great grandpa passed away in 2014 and in February of this year my great-grandmother passed away hearing this makes me nostalgic and yearn for the days where I would listen to Alabama in their basement I would give anything in the world just be able to hear that music and see the smile on their face once more
Additional thing to add I live in a very small town in Kentucky called Cynthiana and it's mainly just filled in Forest out here and I'm not much for country music but hearing this makes me so happy and it makes me feel like they're right beside me listening to it too
Also for anyone who dislikes this I have to say that you are pretty simple-minded if you're not a big fan of the music that's fine but if you genuinely hate it you're too simple-minded and here way too many songs today about love and sex which is hearing the same thing over and over again hearing this is a fresh breath of air if anyone out there doesn't know what I'm talking about listen to some song about love and then listen to the song deeper than a holler by Randy Travis there's a huge difference between today's music and classic country music also know that I'm not telling you if you don't enjoy this that makes you a horrible person I'm just saying if you dislike it that's fine but don't ruin it for everyone else
Still great music!! I was raised on Alabama Band back in early 80's💙& I still love them. In 2016 I went to Ft.Payne for my honeymoon & yes I took pictures by their statues😂💙.
You can have your Luke’s, Blake’s, Garth’s or whomever. They are a dime a dozen. But to me none of ‘em touch the heels of Randy Owen & Alabama. I think we’ve forgotten just how good Alabama was/is. And just really good people.
Dave Whitlow they were very popular in the early/mid 80's when I was kid/teen. Got played on top 40 radio a good bit.
This sounds more like rock than country.
When I listen to Alabama, I am happy. I can have a day from hell and Alabama and a glass of Chardonnay makes it good. Love you guys.
If this is really live, then all I can say is they are just too good till they sound as if they were in the studio
Bring back traditional values.
I am from Australia, and i love Alabama
MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN !!!!
Did concert security for Bill Graham in the San Francisco Bay area. Worked Alabama two different times with a sold out house each time.
But you know what they say about.. WORK, If you love what your doin', it ain't WORK.
BOTH TIMES that I worked Alabama, I was NOT.. "WORKING".
this song hit me at past 3 days
I'll never fprget the time i meet Frank Owens back in 1985...He signed me a atografe and I still got it toodae/

My cousins look like them

Love how Alabama's songs start off mellow, then speed up and add a fiddle at the end.
I'm Georgia raised but our family roots are from Alabama so the boys from Ft. Payne were a constant in our home.

I just saw this amazing band play in concert! It was one of the best concerts i've ever been to. I can't get enough of Alabama! After 50 years, they were moving a little slow but still totally rocked! This is real country music.
I just saw Alabama on Friday, April 5 in Greensboro North Carolina where did you see them recently
I saw them at the Alabama theater in Myrtle Beach the first time they played there money well spent for sure.
Those Music Man Guitars are so cool!
Great song & album by an ICONIC country band...I got this album on vinyl as a gift when I was a kid....The stage in this video in very modest by today's standards (in ANY style/genre)....
Love ya Crystal Cook
Why does new country sound like Backstreet boys? What happened?
FLY THAT FLAG, BOYS.
0:39 THAT FLAG. LOVE IT
I skipped my first day of my senior year of high school to see Alabama on their farewell tour in Indianapolis.
🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
I love this
Alabama is still my favorite country band. ❤
I love Alabama and I love this song! It makes you happy and want to dance! So much meaning!
Long time favorites.
This is my favorite song ever
This song was the first one I ever legit danced to with a girl. I learned the dance by the end of the night and the girl had enough patience and pain tolerance to let me tramp all over her feet. From then on, the hottest girl at any party was mine because I wasn't afraid to dance. THANK YOU ALABAMA!
Don't get any better......for us country boys....( oops not a boy,, maybe 75 yrs old....
❤️❤️❤️
Anyone else play baseball with chirt rocks? My Pawpaw would get kindling from a guy that made wooden guns, he would buy the best ones for us to play with the rest went in the stove.
