Alabama - Dancin', Shaggin' On The Boulevard Lyrics

Well the Magic Attic's where the music rolls..
And the Army-Navy's got ol' Jackie Soul.
Down on Peaches Corner there are Good Ol' Boys..
And Mother Fletchers makin' lots of noise.
They're Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard..
Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard.

Well the Tams are playin' at the Port-O-Call..
And the Drifters underneath the Boardwalk.
At the Spanish Galleon and Ol' Fat Jacks..
Jukebox playin' and the place is packed.
You bet they're Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard..
You know they're Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard.

Got the top down and the traffic's slow..
Sun Fun Week and, we all go..
Where the girls are sunnin' and are lookin' good..
Well I never met 'em but I wish I could..
And we'd go Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard.
We'd go Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard.

Well the Embers singin' up on Ocean Drive..
And the Castaways are gettin' loud tonight.
At the Electric Circus they all getin' down..
And the Carousel's spinnin' round and 'round.
You see them Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard.
I see 'em Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard.

Well I'm hangin out down at Sloppy Joes..
They may doze but they never close.
And the Bama Boys at the Bowery..
They can't dance but they play for free.
But they like Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard..
They know Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard..
They wrote Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard..
Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard.
Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard.
Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard.
Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard.
Dancin', Shaggin' on the boulevard.

  29. colleenand roger

Saw them at a place called Cowboys on HWY 17, it was there night off at the Bowery and they were playing under the name of Wild Country. I agree that Myrtle has changed, but has not every other place we used to go to in the 60's and 70's.

  30. colleenand roger

    Peaches is still there!

  39. Rhonda Boncutter

How many of you have ever Shagged?

  40. Jerry Hubbard

So many people will never know what it was like in Myrtle Beach South Carolina back in the 60's-80's. A time for innocence and just plain fun. No matter where you go in this world, they're no other beaches like Myrtle beach was during that time period. None in California, Florida or New Jersey. It has changed now. The Famous Pavilion is gone for some reason we don't know. Drugs have taking over parts of Ocean Blvd. Prostitutes all over the place, black bike week out of control with their vulgar dressing and actions in front of little children. This song that Alabama plays here is what it was like back then. It will never be the same again. I am one of the fortunate to have experienced this error.

  53. Jerry Hubbard

The memories of MB. I grew up in the 60's, 70's when the beach was the place to be. Met so many girls there every summer. Even got engaged to one. But it did not work out. If only we could turn back the hands of time. This would be my place to be again. Such memories. I even had a Corvette in 71 to cruise the Blvd. Man o man, what times. MB is done now. Never be the same again. So sad.

  54. MountainManSc

Myrtle Beach is so sad today compared to the 60's and 70's. I wish I could go back in time..... but I still have the memories!

    Michael Ballard

MountainManSc bike week was pitiful too

  55. Edward Baggett

  60. Miller Forester

Next month, in North Carolina, we will see an Alabama concert (with Charlie Daniels).   Back in the 60s (yes, I am old), I saw an Alabama concert in Roanoke, VA.  I thot they were as good as the Beatles.  Anyway, while in HS & college, I visited Myrtle Beach and Cherry Grove every summer.  One summer I bummed around there over two months, while working odd jobs and living (bumming) with friends and strangers.  Best time I had in my life.  I met a lot of babes, but not as many as in this video.  These dancers are hired and choreographed, but authentic.

  61. Lutian Murphy

Just a great tune , makes you want to get up and dance !

  62. mary bell

  65. jerry mcconnell

nothing like myrtle beach in the 70s and 80s, they have sure screwed it up compared to the way it use to be. lot of undesirables down there now

    So racist

  66. Brent Woods

    Love this song

  67. Patsy Viars

Hey Guys! Just listened to Shaggin, LOVE IT!!!!

  68. colleenand roger

Saw this band in Myrtle Beach around 1977-78, playing at a country bar called Cowboys and they played under the name of Wild Country. This was where they played the nights they were not play at the Bowery. Little did I know at the time the would become the most famous country band of all time. Even though my homes in North Carolina, I am southern born and southern breed, and if you ever get to Myrtle Beach, make sure you stop by the Bowery to see where the "magic" began!

  69. Doug Scott

Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of the gigantic custom car show in St. Ignas, Mi. in the late 90's.

  70. Teresa Giovannangeli

Alabama will always be one of the greatest bands in the world!! I am a Tuscaloosa native and just in case you have been living under a rock we also play a little FOOTBALL!!!

    Miller Forester

A little is a lot.  Can you say CLEMSON.

  71. countrygirl countrymusiclover

The ONLY place I've been to that's near any of the places mentioned in the lyrics is the pavilion amusement park. I'm only 24 but went to myrtle beach with my sister mom dad and grandma and grandpa when we were all kids. My grandparents lived less than ten minutes from me in North Carolina but they had a trailer at the beach we used to stay at. Then they sold that trailer and got a house at myrtle beach. Now my grandma sold the beach house to my uncle. So now he currently owns it. I miss that amusement park and the arcade they had at crescent beach

  72. Cynthia Ennis

I have been to MB about 7x & Alabama was not there once...what timing I have. ❤️ them! Was down the year this song came out! Lots of fun back then!

  75. Kylie Pollert

When Randy sings, "I'm hangin' out down at Sloppy Joe's," he's not referring to the food, is he? I've never heard of a place called that.

  96. Marie Hardy

Myrtle Beach is not the same any more, sure there are still arcade's, the old West Photoshop, Ripley's, but not the rides.

  97. Doug Longworth

Man, this song always brings up so many good memories of my childhood. My Grandparents used to take me to Myrtle Beach every summer. As I look back, all of my earliest memories of the place are nearly identical to this video. I can remember wanting to go to the Magic Attic, but being to young. The first Roller coaster I ever rode was at the Pavilion. Hell, I learned how to swim in the Captain's Quarters indoor pool (beside the lazy river). Myrtle Beach has changed so much since those days it is heartbreaking. I remember first bar I ever went to legally was Studebakers, and it's a Dollar General now. I still love to go to Myrtle Beach, but not for the same reasons as when I was younger.

  98. Justin Hicks

When I was little I would dance to this Everytime it came on cmt
