Al Stewart - Don't Forget Me Lyrics
The sun is going down across the great unknown
Lights come on inside the towers made of stone
A muffled drum plays out of sight and all alone
Summer is over
The city lies awake and breathes electric air
Young girls seem to shimmer in fluorescent glare
Summer is over
It's a never ending show
Faces come and go
Like a river
You're a rainbow wrapped in gray
Shake the dust away
Like a river
But don't forget me
Don't forget me now
Don't forget me now
It's a never ending show
Faces come and go
Like a river
You're a rainbow wrapped in gray
Shake the dust away
Like a river
The crowd is spilling from the video arcade
The owner of the restaurant pulls down the shade
The thunder of the trucks is like a cannonade
But now it's over
But don't forget me
Don't forget me now
Don't forget me
Don't forget me now
Summer is over
Summer is over
But don't forget me
Don't forget me now
Don't forget me
Don't forget me now

Al Stewart Don't Forget Me Comments
When I'm not jamming to Drivin'n'Cryin',Ted Nugent, Motorhead and many other hard rock bands or jazz music from the lights of Miles Davis and John Coltrane and others , I will change gears and listen to some light rock and Al Stewart is a great musician to feel the need. Complex but enjoyable music. I am only familiar with Year of the Cat and timepassages but it looks like I've got a lot of catching up to do. This album sounds like it might be a good place to start.
2 dislikes? why?!
This is one of the best albums he made after Y O T C.. It's light fresh and rather dynamic for his standards and less about historical events
7,449 views in approximately four years. That's a travesty.
I know what you mean. We are a select few I'm afraid bro'. Summer is over.
Tell me I'm not the only one who hears a wide swath of Barry White in this?
The wrong White. It's Peter White you are hearing.
beautiful. this was dedicated to me many years ago by the love of my life.
One of his best songs, in my opinion.
My sister, who died 38 years ago with 3 friends and neighbors of mine, was a huge "Year of the cat" fan, is the narrator to me, through Al's excellent verse. Also, a favorite album cover, too!
I sang this at a friend's funeral. It works extremely well in that context. Summer is over.
Beautifully arranged! Another gem by Al!
