Agonist, The - Waiting Out The Winter Lyrics

Which is more elusive -- freedom or sanity?
When one disappears the other follows so quickly.
Certain species, races, beings are gifted, you see, with the power to rob us of either should they feel so inclined, to bother.
The land is run by a man-made set of rules, described an Holy or patriotic tools.
Ethics are invented, although as a consciousness is not.
Adamant beliefs are highly protected and when challenged frequently emerge victorious.
You can't speak, think or feel.
Severed wings never heal.
So justifies the kill.
Wait out the Winter under forced custody.
The static cold feels more like home than this open-armen penitentiary and we embrace the comfort of lost liberty.
So fictile is identity without self-governance.
They name the soul as an important part.
That's why free-thinkers always feel so lost and desperate.
But every species has a heart.
And I just witnessed my first death.
I watched the last escaping breath.
I just saw a life turned to death.
For them to claim it doesn't count is reckless, blind ignorance!
A cry for help -- silenced -- I saw her go...
I don't know where, a frightened stare became a lifeless glare...
Suddenly she was no longer there with me, although I'm there with her.
I don't quite know when it was okay to exhale...
The excuse-making race decides that breaking their own laws applies.
But, taking ANY life is wrong; I feel the pain for everyone.
Though you can stand, learn, still ignore, the weight of knowledge cracks glass floors.
Ink runs quickly, blood runs slow, so wait for the rain (red) waters to flood the snow.
Wait out the Winter under forced custody.
The static cold feels more like home than this open-armen penitentiary and we embrace the comfort of...
Disgrace yourself because you've caged yourself in.
Destined path's and dead-end.
Eyes take snapshots from broken clocks.
Motion slows to a sleep-walk and senses shut down with the frost and All in ending...
Mental hibernation.

If you just misinterpret the lyrics, this would be a sick song for Game Of Thrones. Good song and great show, you cant go wrong. *WINTER IS COMING*

    C.... s....

    Chase sicNESS i think so

  11. z.... ....

"And we embrace the comfort of lost liberty." Damn ain't that the truth. Jefferson once said he who trades freedom for comfort deserves neither.

  12. t.... t....

Yeah, Lucy is right. But to clarify, the song is prochoice. Alissa did an interview about it. It's about a girl who got pregnant and got kicked out of her home. Lived on the streets and ended up dying along with the baby. "To protect a soul or to save a life" the girl wouldn't abort because she was religious. And we all know Alissas view on that.

  13. L.... W....

Chlorpromazine is about orphans being used for drug testing, When The Bough Breaks is about abortion. Here, she's talking about freedom from repression, and you could go more specific by saying she's talking about animals.

  14. L.... W....

She isn't in this, but she in When The Bough Breaks

  15. A.... L....

She's talking about animal rights. "I watched her last escaping breath", fetuses don't breath. "A frightened stare became a lifeless glare", she is talking about a scared animal dying. A fetus can't show fear or even be scared. " The excuse making race..." She is taking about the human race. Not a "born race". She is saying everyone, or most people, should be ashamed of themselves for not caring about the brutal deaths of sentient beings.

  16. D.... M....

It's about two things, more specifically is about animal protection, like vegans that don't eat meat. You can see it in how she speaks about a governing specie that make rules to oppress, so she puts other species in the same level as humans, she says "taking ANY life is wrong". But it's about freedom in general, how people live lives they don't like, doing things they don't want, and when they wake up they are dying and it's too late..

  17. i.... ....

oh, derp, that makes more sense. lol thanks for telling me.

  18. M.... F....

Chlorpromazine is about an abortion, I believe this sounds more like she's talking about euthanasia... but yeah, it's still heartbreaking :(

  19. i.... ....

The lyrics really sound like she's talking about an abortion, it breaks my heart every time I listen to it <\3
