Well the first riff is still an At The Gates rip off, but I still like the chorus.

The screaming in this song is top notch.

It was through this song that I discovered The Agonist. Thankfully I liked the song and looked out for more of this band.

As much as i like this ...it pains me to hear vicky slowly ruining her vocal cords ......i really feel shes better suited to symponic metal style..eg..nightwish ,epica ,within temptation etc.. where she can fully demonstrate her vocal ability and diversity...but each to their own i guess...check out her cover of slaying the dreamer from nightwish!!

Hate to say it, but what happened after Alyssa left? Or did one of the guitarists leave? Songwriting isnt nearly as good on new album as this and many others.

I noticed the same thing right away. The lyrics just seem stupid compared to the older albums. And the thing is that actually, Alissa didn't leave, they kicked her out of the band. Such a poor decision considering the future of The agonist

There's a few extra lines in the chorus that aren't in the lyric video, but I can't quite make out what she says. I've looked online but can't find any lyrics with those extra lines either. Anyone know what they are?

Despite my earlier doubts, that the music on the new album will be too bland ... too predictable I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. The new album is really growing on me. Vicky's vocals as well. :)

UH OH! Watch out! We have 210% Certified vocal professionals in the comments section! Seriously though, Really? Vicky needs lessons and to improve? You people claiming this have no clue what are good or bad vocals. Preferring Alissa, Fine that's your own opinion. But to sit here and say Vicky "sucks" or is "mediocre" is absurd. You really think a band who is in the music industry Or most of all a record label would allow a Mediocre or vastly worse vocalist then Alissa? NO. The Label would have dropped them quick if Vicky "Sucked". Other then that I think both vocalist are amazing and top notch female screamers and singers in metal today. They both have pretty good range and can hit the highs and lows with minimal effort!

@MartyHaVoK337 The bickering here reminds me a great deal of the outrage over Jesse Leach returning to Killswitch Engage. Without Jesse, there would have been no Killswitch Engage. As Jesse said, he and Howard Jones have different vocal styles, and he respects Howard for his work. Besides, if Howard hadn't stepped down, it could have killed him. If you don't like Jesse's (or Vicky's in this case for The Agonist) style, just don't listen, simple as that.

can people stop saying Alissa left the band, Arch Enemy is what inspired her to do metal and to get the chance to be the lead singer of it she wanted to take it and do both bands but her band members didn't want her doing both (understandable since tours and stuff but still) decided to kick her out.

OMG!!! after hearing all of the songs that came out from this album (well, not all of them, yet) it makes me love them even more with Vicky Psarakis than Alissa!! My Witness, Your Victim was brutal and awesome! Gates Of Horn and Ivory...not a fan of the video but badass song! Perpetual Notion and Disconnect Me are one of my fav metal songs in 2014!! Vicky seriously is a very talented vocalist and a musician!! her growls and screams are perfect and flawless! her clean vocals are absolutely mesmerizing and beautiful!! she's trying very hard to not copying Alissa as their new frontwoman, she does not act like a total diva or showoff to the band and to the fans, and based on her interviews, she's very sweet and just like any musicians, I can see the passion in her eyes towards music! keep it up! Vicky!! I will always support you and the band! love you and I wish you for every happiness!! 

The Agonist without Alissa is like Black Sabbath without Ozzy... They just suck!

I like this song but her growls and screams are so overprocessed to sound good and similar to Alissa even though live, she sounds more like a screech. I'm sorry, no offense, she's a great singer and a lovely person but she needs to work on her growling and not rely so much on processing.

So fucking much studio work that I just cannot even tell a serious fucking difference between Alissa and Vicky. They fucking sound the same..Awww old school metal productions I miss you so....

Good to see that the Agonist found a worthy replacement for Alissa! I think that anyone saying Vicky is not worthy is a bit stuck on Alissa leaving. Which I can understand, since it is always sucky when the vocalist leaves your favorite band! Vicky kicks ass, she is amazing, I don't think the band could have found someone better to keep the typical Agonist sound alive! \m/

It's always so hard when someone leaves. I hope she does well in Arch, but I think it's a shame she'll never get to show her cleans there (or it'll be a complete flip from what they are). Listening to this song, I can say I believe the new lady is...sufficient. Nothing more (good band). She is not bad, I don't hate her. In truth, after listening to some of her stuff, she's great. Simply, I prefer Alissa's cleans and growls. It's what I knew, and it's what is supposed to be there when I listen to this band. With literally two song's of impression to go by, I have to wonder if Vicky will quuuuuuite be able top those notes off. In the growls as well. Perhaps she will, I hope so. What I really want out of all of this is for the band to not lose their sound, though. What they had in Eulogies was perfection. Keep the vocabulary uniqueness in the lyrics, the guitar tones/styles and drum licks. The whole vibe is what I loved about them. And Alissa was just what really made it happen. So, no. No one will be able to be her, and things must necessarily be a little different. If the band loses the mysticism, that poetic touch, that Edgar Allan Poe aura, the brutality with Oxford language in plain structure matched with a flowing, somewhat operatic voice floating and cutting through it all, then well...I'll be sad. And it will be another band gone. At least for me. Having said that, these are their choices, and I know they will give us their best. It must be expected that things will be a little different, so I respect her style and experiences. I am just sad to see the end of an era I loved so much. So we shall see what happens, and I am interested to see how it happens. Good luck to both, bon chance, mon cheri.

Alissa's screaming might be a little better than Vicky but in singing was more better than Vicky. Vicky is a good vocalist but I wasn't really used to her voice..

This is the first time I have taken the time to listen to The Agonist, with Vicky doing the vocals.  As always for and sort of member switch, I was concerned.  Well done.  It's not the same as it was, but it really shouldn't be.  This was very good and I look forward to future music.  I'm really happy with Arch Enemy and The Agonist in their current forms.

I'll miss Alissa, but listening to this I have higher hopes for the new album than before.  I like it, just don't do old covers.  Leave the songs Alissa did to Alissa, and make new songs Vicki's.

Vicky is amazing. She's a great replace for Alissa. I like her clean voice, but she must practice her growls. Anyway i can say she's better than Alissa.

Keep in mind guys, it's REALLY FREAKING HARD to find a female death vocalist who can also sing.  She's remarkably close to her predecessor and good enough that The Agonist can carry on.

i was devastated when i heard that alissa left the band for arch enemy....
She gets the hard parts as well as the clean parts!!!!

the Musical part is amazing yet lacks of those special riffs and rhythms they usually have in their songs which makes them unique,,,.. sometimes just weird but infectious.... ike martyr art, Globus Hystericus and Birds Elope with the sun

the lyrics are not so bad as well, you are definitely compelled to sing an scream along  but still not what i would normaly expect ...they also lack in weirdness and Uniqueness... like "what says the tree to his friends the rocks...When he lives and breathes they sit and mock"...actually whole song is like that so^^

This chick sounds great, IMO. I've always been more of an Arch Enemy fan, but I really enjoyed the direction The Agonist took on their last album. Both Alissa and Vicky have awesome growls/screams. This song is pretty sick, though, so it sounds like The Agonist is still hitting their stride. As for AE, Alissa is such a breath of fresh air not just for the voice, but the tone of the band has taken a much needed change as well.

alright now i've have sure this band has some little copies, like the song thank you pain in the chorus they copy the drumer part of DragonForce and in this song the chorus looks a lot like Bullet For My Valentine, its just see properly

Well, I was worried about The Agonist after Alissa left.  Alissa was such a fantastic vocalist, I didn't believe anyone could take her place.  I like Alissa's clean vocals more than Vicky's (but then again, I like her clean vocals more than pretty much ANYBODY else's).  I think Vicky's on par with Alissa as far as the screaming/growling.  I think with a little bit more work on the cleans, The Agonist will be back in business.

Is there anyone who listens to this band for the actual music they play instead of the female vocals, the singer isn't the whole band u know. U can let the vocals off this song and it's still suberb melodic death metal, these are awesome melodic/technical talented musicians. But it seems a lot of the fans are just here for the hot females, or girls like it because it is a women singing?

If one thing is for certain, their instrument abilities are improving like crazy.
