After The Burial - Virga Lyrics

We disappear from our thoughts and sounds
Our features- abrasive

So many things we overlook
Is there something that we don't know?
That over time. We're over time
Wrought with dysfunction, and callous minds
So take the knife within my heart
Sharpen it with water and virtue

Oh, the mystery. Of what we wished we knew
Oh the misery. There's so much more that I could have
That I could give

Falling faster, gaining speed
Everything around me wraps me in light, precious life
Something we seem to forget, I can feel something real burning inside
Something we seem to forget, I can feel it burning inside of me

Wind exerts my lungs. The influence of my being

Weightlessness. A beautiful affection
Force its hold
Against my deep breath

Oh, the mystery. Of what we wished we knew
Oh the misery. There's so much more that I could have
That I could give

My dyslexia is at it's worst with this song. Never have I never called it Viagra yet :/

  8. Convince us

I'm so glad that I found myself in this reality,..where this music exists

  9. Aaron Orrantia

Aw man...I thought I was going to be the first to say that the main riff sounds like something out of megaman...beat me to the punch.

I love after the burial, but the end reminds me of Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi 3 Video Game. Look up Zagnya's special move on the game you'll see why. Also reminds me of the 3d in Pokémon XYZ. Well off to Veil Of Maya, and Born Of Osiris.

  15. David Berckmans

PLEASE I NEED YOU ! Someone make a 8 bit version of this masterpiece pleaaaaaase! It would be so awesome!

  16. Nicolas Robyn

    f-zero lel

  17. Thomas Ivan Gallito

chorus sounds like a megaman x stage song

    Jira Rokku

Thomas Ivan Gallito THATS WHAT I SAID. THATS WHY I LOVE THIS SONG.

  18. Mike

people here complaining about the guest vocalist have clearly never heard any early ATB.

sounds like old times, to me ;)

  19. Longestnamelikelytohaveeverbeenrecorded Smith

    VIAGRA MY FAV SONG

    Gregor Gizeh

pahaha why am i laughing so hard at this

  20. Javier Ramirez

man the new generation of kids will never know the true ATB! the new guy doesn't even come close to their first vocalist; "Nick Wellner" this is the only track he's in and brings ATB back to its roots!.

    metal catalyst

+Javier Ramirez wow go easy mate their actual vocalist is still a fucking beast

    Brandon

their current vocalist is actually dope lmao people can appreciate both, chill.

    Julian Feldberg

Yeah but nah dude. His vocalist just don't sound good lol

  21. Chung Boul

i wish those leads lasted longer, that riff is just tooooo good

    Lorenzo Rico-Juarez

I hope you know it us severely overused

    Chung Boul

+Lorenzo Rico-Juarez im talking about the riff at 1:22 and 3:22 , which only lasts for like 20 seconds at each time

  22. James McCartney

Whoever does guest vocals in this definitely did a bad job imho...could have found a much better vocalist to fit the part

    Joe Torres

Their very first vocalist appeared on this track.

    Gonk Nodge

it's Nick Wellner, ATB's vocalist from their first album Forging a Future Self

  23. Brandon Tyler

    0:36 "So many dicks"

    carnifexfan200

thank you for making me spit my root beer lol xD

    mariah Norris

    "All because a big dick
    So many dicks
    We overlook"

    Mike Hintz

Don't get me wrong, I fucking love this band and this song, but I can't help but hear at 2:47 "KISS MY DICK BREATH!!!"

    Mike Hintz

Followed by the exhale at 2:59.... kind of too perfect... It's okay shame me already everybody, I deserve it.

  24. skinnyman

Chorus always reminds me music on my old sega md ^_^

  25. Sacredgeometry

    The vocals on this...eugh

    Manuel Sotelo

nick wellner did a bad job here. the fanboys of early times cant stop whinning

  26. Brad Peacocke

    Big Blue from SSBM?

  27. Luc Angelo Finney

They really should have stuck with Jocke Skog mixing like on In Dreams. In Dreams was a pretty much perfect record from the mixing perspective, and this is kind of pathetic.

  28. WoeIsLee

1:32 lol did they like let some clown in the crowd grab the mic? Thats what it sounds like.

  29. bike4aday

    This is amazing

  30. Thomas Hinds

Are there guitars in this song?  Oh never mind, the intro was just mixed by a fucking toddler

    iamahab

"this intro was mixed by a fucking toddler" that's a bit harsh don't you think? I'm not taking anything too seriously that was literally the first time I had ever written a comment on youtube. Just because whoever mixed the song isn't the greatest mixer of all time doesn't mean that his take on how to mix an album is totally invalid.

    Walker Crocker

    Thank you.

    Walker Crocker

And mixed by a toddler he says. Look at between the buried and me. Essentially the same thing.

    iamahab

True but paul waggoner is a 10/10 guitarist so I'm gonna have to slightly disagree with you on that one just based on principle lol

    CardboardWallet

+Thomas Hinds song is still amazing though

  31. Kristóf Kékes

Although their old vocalist is pretty good I still prefer Anthony's vocals over his. I think it fits better with atb's music.

  32. Jack Heet

    2:25 wtf

  33. Michael Denny

Oh my gawd that was horrible.

  34. Autumn Severed

This song is fucking great <3

  35. metalester

    1:22 MARVEL VS. CAPCOM \m/

  36. Ramon Valenzuela

    NICK lml

  37. Jesse Z

wow. on a scale of 1/brain melting this was BRAIN MELT material. \m/ \m/

  38. DeanMetalAngel666

Am I alone in calling the type of Screams that Nick Wellner does here Turkey Vocals? I don't know why, but I always think of a Turkey when I hear them LOL. Also, this Song reminds me of F-Zero; mostly due to that same bit. That's a good thing, a very good thing LOL.

    DeanMetalAngel666

Eh, Jake only does it occasionally; but Mike. You are certainly not wrong in that regard LOL. He's only been becoming more of a Turkey on each successive Album as well LOL.

  39. SlayerFan21

1:22 > the whole album. kinda reminds me of the time of the original power Rangers back in the early 90s and sonic the hedgehog. It does give it that retro feel.

  40. asher laciny

    i'm loving this.

  41. Brett Williams

my favorite part is at 2:58 when you can hear Anthony take a breath before shit goes crazy hahaha

  42. InMemoryOfJimmy

After the Burial has the absolute best harsh vocalists i've ever had the privilege of listening to. His range is unreal, his highs are so crisp and his mid range screams have so much power. Then there's that low pig squealish thing he does... it's just like orgasms all day.

    Mmmmarci

i actually think Anthony is better in every aspect. Seen them live with Anthony multiple times and he is a fucking beast live

    Quentin Tobey

@Archon He really is pretty impressive..

  43. Giovany M

    3:22 just amazing.

  44. Vincent Pugiese

They got Nick Wellner, their previous vocalist? That's fucking insane.

  45. Different

    lyrics anyone?

  46. Different

for some reason this song kept crashing my chrome :S
too awesome to handle I guess

  47. ColdDayInHell

Like classic ATB! Love the return of their sound

  48. Frankie Paredes

I bet a lot of people think that little drum break is simple, but he wasn't playing just straight 16ths. It was in between each snare hit, and that's pretty tricky.

  49. snapapples817

i love how atleast one song on every album has that Rareform feel to it

  50. Calibur43

1:32 is confirmed to be Nick Wellner, how fucking sick.

    Tiffany Neiber

@snapapples817 kinda!? nick was one of my favorite front men from the Midwest. say what you may about his voice but dude could rule a crowd like none they've had yet. Grant's def my second fav singer they've had, but still, no nick

    Ramon Valenzuela

    he kicks ass

    Danny Fanta

nick was the best vocalist ATB ever had

    f904101

    Love that scream

    Mark Johnstone

He was good but is horrible in this song - sorry

  51. Ian Jackson

I fucking love this album as much as Rareform.

Even though Rareform will always hold a place in my Top Five albums.

  52. Ahead Fury

    1:23   Megaman ?

  53. zeon951

    1:31 Nick Wellner!?

  54. Tom Wright

    Original vocalist at 1:32?

  55. YourEyesDontLieBand

The solo in the minute 1:21 sounds just like the Sting Chameleon stage theme from Megaman X

    Bl00dGutter

Mega Man X was the exact thing that came to my mind when I heard that part too!

    bike4aday

I love the way it sounds tho

  56. zachary longston

    anyone got the lyrics?

  57. drknudy

I respect Nick's decision to leave and pursue his own line of life for a bit. But god damn he is the heart and soul of this band. Wellner 14'

  58. Heretic123456

the whole album sounds like a demo

  59. Jesse CNS

    Nick Wellner ftw!!!

    Jesse CNS

and that outro ATB is killing it!

  60. JDPWD

    Lol

  65. Solomon Davis

August Burns Red finally got a 8 string. And skipped a 7 string.

  66. Box of BladeZ

AM I JUST GOING CRAZY OR IS NICK ACTUALLY IN THE SONG

  67. OfArgento

Lol 1:24 sounds so 80s but I love it

    Martin Molnár

immediately thought: "Go Go Power Rangers!"

    maxso54

It reminded me of the riff from Iron Maiden's song Virus.

    Gabriel

@Martin Molnár Lol nice, reminds me of F-Zero

    Dominic Gutierrez

+Martin Molnár yeah like the toy commercial were they fuck up his room and each animal mech combined to make one

    Thomas Ivan Gallito

    Megaman X

  68. davidjedi115

Metal album of the year! Was gonna give it to august burns red but this is such a step up for a metal band. Every song is amazing and was like "you loved rareform and liked in dreams? Well how about this motherfuckers!" Love these guys and so much talent its crazy.

  69. davidjedi115

  70. marchofflames622

Does anyone else think the riff at 1:23 is ripped straight out of a Mega Man game?hahaha

  71. Zachary Tomlinson

The riff at 1:24 reminds me of F-Zero so much lol

    TsarDragon

    Holy shit you're right!

  72. Star Burn13

Пацаны ваще ребята! Внатуре класс! Чётко!

  73. MCAdrien9606

Drifts Part 2 haha.. still a fucking masterpiece!! :)

  74. Conor Curran

THIS SOUNDS LIKE DRIFTS I FUCKING LOVE THIS SHIT

  75. Kyle A

I love the album, but I love even more that I can read peoples comments and they are oh so polite to each other now on youtube. there's the metal community I know!

  76. ScottOrTheApocalypse

Well shit. Drummer Dan Carle probably is the most talented of the band.  Yet the whole band is fuxking sick! Just want to give some deserved love to Dan!!!

  77. richrob543210

Sounds a bit like unearth for a bit

  78. Matthew Thomason

PLAY THE FUCK OUT OF THOSE DRUMS DALE!

  79. Chris Calliss

im sure many people agree that having the elements from both rareform and in dreams has definently made this album their best work.

    Chris Calliss

    @Tim Mayer
i thought it was a really cool thing too. it's nice to know people can leave a band and still be on good terms. Shows he can still do it too.

    Tim Mayer

    @Chris Calliss definitley.

    Steven Brooks

its cool to see that somebody else has the same perspective, though i cant say that any album is better than another simply because i like them all so much

    Brian Sabul

Absolutely!  The evolution of ATB has been so money!!  They've built upon and incorporated all the sounds from all their albums and honestly expanded on all them as well!

    TooDjentle

    @Brian Sabul Your so money

  80. theBOSpaladin101

So sick that the guest vocalist is the original vocalist for this band!

  81. icedragon2812

    Who's the guest vocalist?

    theBOSpaladin101

    Nick Wellner, their original vocalist.

  82. erickisnumberone

Grant Luoma from Rareform is in this song!

    RottingCoroner90

    hahaha no he isnt

  83. erickisnumberone

from 0:25 to about 1:00 sounds like something off of rareform!:D

  84. Fernde09

People that think technicality is just about notes are objectively wrong lol

    Wilson Jimenez

well stated Fernde09, I agree completely.

  85. Lucas Slizewski

I wish that Nick Wellner was still in the band. His vocals are so unique sounding. Not saying that I don't like Anthony, because he's talented too, but I just prefer Nick.

  86. BenKoonDrumming

I did a drum cover of this song. If you want to check it out, that'd be greatly appreciated. The new album slays, I think Anti-Pattern will be the next one I want to learn.

  87. ThePikeyPike

    Classic Burial right here.

  88. Trystan Lance

I love how this album has influences from Forging a Future Self, Rareform, and In Dreams mixed in along with a new approach to their writing process. If you wanted another Rareform, it's not going to happen, but this is about as close as it gets. Proud to say After the Burial is one of my strongest influences in writing music and to be born and raised in Minneapolis! Twin Cities Crush ftw

  92. DittmerRecordings

You could say this song is in "rareform" huehuehue. \m/

  93. javievery rockx

    Well said.

  97. Zedujo

I click this first out of all the tracks... blown away within 30 seconds. MINNESOTA PRIDE! Go AtB!

  98. SHX

I'm a tad iffy about the other songs, but this song really catches the essence of their earlier works.

    BlackValor93

@Ballstik I love this song so much. reminds me of older material like ometh or engulfed. I almost wish they wrote stuff like this more often, but it really stands out and seems more like a treat when we only get one like it on the album. have to say though that i really like Of Fearful Men as well. also other songs on the album are good too but Virga is the best (IMO)

    BlackValor93

@Ballstik also, you should give some of the other songs another try, I feel like it takes a few listens to really get into some of these tracks. A Wolf Amongst Ravens and Pennyweight were pretty groovin

    SHX

Hrm.. Yeah. I made the mistake of comparing these songs to rareform, but I totally forgot there was a whole different album between then and now. These songs do tie in quite nicely with where "In Dreams" left off.

    darkdaynightime

my tadpoles got a stiffy but herbal essence is my fav shampoo. This band is called 'after the burial' so dnt talk shit

    BlackValor93

I have to agree, though I like this album alot compared to how much I disliked In Dreams when it first released, it was so different from Rareform that I was really annoyed at AtB for changing things up so much like that all at once, but Ive found songs that I enjoy on it like Pendulum, Bread Crumbs, and To Carry You Away. I dunno, its weird how that works, it was the same for me with Autotheism (The Faceless) and Tomorrow We Die Alive (Born of Osiris), and any other releases that feel so different compared to older material. Seems like most bands can be really inconsistent at keeping a good balance between writing material that sounds too similar or too different. Heres to hoping Veil of Maya's release next year is amazing ^^
