I used to hate the growls as well, now I actually enjoy them.

It's part of the music they made. If you don't like it, you should listen to Within Temptation, but not their first album, that contains growling and snarling too

Aw! I love After Forever. Too bad they're not together anymore, but if it was the case, we wouldn't have ReVamp and Floor as the new lead in Nightwish. This song is awesome :D

I can't help but be excited that Floor is going to be the new lead singer of Nightwish... Honestly I think they couldn't have made a better choice if they tried. It's perfect. <3 I'll be looking forward to their next album.

I think the grunts are well done in this band. They are not just used as another gimmick they are a key part in the song. Much better than the ones in Epica songs imo.

I disagree. ReVamp is very good. Just wait until they find their definite niche in their genre and come out with a 2nd album. It's going to be epic as fuck.

@OhtarwenElenya Yeah I think the contrast of the deep, heavy grunts with Floor's much higher, lighter tone adds a lot to these songs.

I agree with what you say. I also can hear it complements Floor's voice but I would have preferred a low deep voice than grunts. I am getting slightly used to them after hearing the songs many times...

I have come to like the grunts because I think After Forever keeps a good balance with it (I really dislike bands that only have grunts). I think it compliments Floor's voice and makes her sound even more beautiful. I especially like the trade off in "De-Energized" (because I almost feel like it sounds like a devil-temptation thing).

Great band. Imo now better than NW (my all time favourites) who have lost their n°1 crown due to their poor choice of singer.
Not too keen on the grunts though. Too bestial for my taste...
