@talkingbombs69 Well to be honest, I am straight but I do find Davey Havok attractive, however I believe that there earlier music was there prime, it's there most fun and energized music, the stuff that gets me pumped and as you said Sing The Sorrow was very well there best album musically, that's there most complex album lyric and instrument wise.

people grow up and change. Get over it and listen to the music. Just cause they make different music now, doesn't mean they didn't make good music that you can still listen to. And I'm sure Jade prefers writing more complex music than just fast power chords. Besides, Jade wasn't even in AFI back then.

Perfect song for a show, this is how they got big. Hardcore moshing verses, catchy sing along choruses.

@HoosierMF Absolutely true. During STS he was screaming at the top of his lungs on some songs instead of just shouting like on this album. To go from singing softly to screaming it will fuck your vocal chords up. But if you search you can find a video thats Art of Drowning/STS era where theyre doing an interview and he mentions "the monster" that lives in his neck. He had problems with it for awhile before the STS tour.

I think a big reason to why their music changed so drastically is Davey's surgery he had after Sign The Sorrow.

i really hate december underground but there newest album is ok it's an improvement but still their hardcore stuff is way better then the rock stufffrom their latest album

Everybody's new albums suck this year. Accept maybe for AC\DC. But these old stuff are really good

lol. music is usually something that breaks down into style and emotion. cant always be a simple progression.few things i have heard of newer music, they are completely different.
if the older stuff is punk, would interpret that as being more raw and energized. newer stuff might have some type of intense emotion. yet its not the same at all.
i saw one interview before i got to this video, of them talking about older music as something like a old toy they pic up ever once in a while

yea right. you know we all want some change in our lives, and so does davey. he just wanted something more, something new, something experimental. and that's what good music is, experimenting with stuff. i liked the performance, it was just like in old days: imperfect voice, screaming, jumping and all that kinda stuff. if they wanted money they would release "same" stuff over and over and over again.

they're not sell outs. they've just grown out of that hardcore music. afi still sings old song on concerts. just wtch IHAV and you'll see that he still remembers 1997 ;)

dude i love afi's old stuff. his voice was pretty fucking awesome back then and i love punk songs that feature people trying to sing. i mean i love eighties punk, its my favorite. but i just can't stand how a good band like this went all pussy and shit.
