AFI - Of Greetings And Goodbyes Lyrics

Now ending discreetly, just like a hidden sin,
as I go under please tuck me in.
Make me invisible.
This hidden explosion calls for a wandering cast with no direction.
Enter all monsters let us twist another fairy tale.
Go kill the lights, we'll glow till morning comes.
I'll say goodnight and bow to everyone.
Then we go under.
The beauties are sleeping as fruit just rots away.
Today go hungry.
Let it begin.
Make me invincible.
There was a weeping I carried down today, a sigh worth keeping.
Deep within divinity let's star another secret show.
No need to worry it is just another monster.
No need to fear here in the secret show.
No need to worry I am just another monster.
In you, I'll see me, in the secret show.

    Qué género es este??

    a.... ....

    Seven Blue Punk

    a.... ....

    Hardcore

  6. M.... ....

Black veil Brides copied this on "children surrender"

    M.... ....

id like to hope they didn't hear the woah oh ohs and say yes we need that for our chorus. they didn't really copy anything. can almost guarantee its coincidence but hey its pretty similar so good catch!

    M.... ....

@Garcia Graphics i also hope they didnt ON PURPOSE, but hey, andy likes all these kind of bands (aiden, misfits, afi, etc) all of these "scene" punk bands, so its kind of obvious he listened to this album. but i think its a coincidence cuz its a really "simple" melody (the woah ohs) so maybe he just didnt even thought about it

    M.... ....

oh yea he definitely was influenced by these guys as that chorus shows haha. Aiden kicks ass btw too haha.

    M.... ....

    @Garcia Graphics Amen!

    M.... ....

Umm... Have you never listened to "punk"? The oldest of afi, pennywise, agnostic front, misfits, and tons of others? The whoa ohs are insanely common among that style of band. They literally do some form of it in 9 out of 10 songs. Bvb couldve picked that influence up from any one of the hundreds of bands whove done it.

  7. e.... p....

Did some old AFI flood it's way through Mexico?

  12. 2.... 7....

    No me gusto.

  13. E.... ....

    1. Shut your Mouth and Open your eyes

    2. Black Sails

    3. Very Proud of ya

    4. Art of Drowning

    5. Answer that...

Anything past Art of Drowning is mediocre stuff, bit too polished and clean for my taste

    E.... ....

    +EDeeire more like
    1. The Art of Drowning
    2. Black Sails in The Sunset/Sing The Sorrow
    3. All Hallows
    4. Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes.
    5. A Fire Inside
    6. Burials
    7. Very Proud of Ya
    8. Answer That and Stay Fashionable
    9. Crash Love
    10. Decemberunderground

    E.... ....

Celio 19891, dead on in my opinion, except none of afi new stuff should make the list.

  14. P.... ....

The problem with going to The Art of Drowning videos is that the comments are full of people slamming AFI's new music.

    P.... ....

Because it isn't afi, its a sell out of afi! What else can be said?

  15. P.... ....

AFI albums in order of brilliance:
    1. Sing the Sorrow
    2. Decemberunderground
    3. Black Sails in the Sunset
    4. The Art of Drowning
    5. Burials
    6. Crash Love
    7. Shut  Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes
    8. Answer That and Stay Fashionable
    9. Very Proud Of Ya

And they're all excellent albums.  Including Crash Love.

    P.... ....

    marty uribe true

    P.... ....

I agree. Seeing their newer albums being listed so high made me cringe. Some of their new songs are okay but I can't even sit through the majority of them.

    P.... ....

Ya because these pple were never their in the beginning. I was their from the start in 95 for me. I swear it is sickening hearing afi's new songs ever get listed past the art all hollows or black sails or the art of drowning!!! Plus was all about the music then, now sadly that can not be said!!!

    P.... ....

ProfessorRJLupin ... heads shake😚 must not have good ears lupin.-love jegan.

    P.... ....

ProfessorRJLupin but you are still cool guy though.

  16. A.... T....

lol noooo they be stealin' my bucket!

  17. a.... p....

Music fans are pretty much the equivalent of cranky old people. Nostalgia keeps so many from liking anything apart from 'what they grew up with'... The older stuff is great, but AFI grew up and moved on. People and music change over time... it's just the way things are.

  18. M.... P....

    WooOOOooooaaaaah! WooOOOoooaaaaaah!

  19. t.... w....

Its kool it changed but they did sell out

  20. c.... ....

i like to imagine that he's singing "No need to worry- it is just another lobster..."

  21. g.... ....

there is new afi, newer afi, old afi, older afi, and oldest afi... no album sounds the fucking same, I fucking love it... diversity... who would have thought a band could do it?

  22. v.... ....

    Clearly you do care.

  23. D.... S....

DU was alright, what will follow CL, theyll probs sound like Bruno Mars

  24. m.... ....

dude whats all this talk with decemberunderground, sing the sorrow and crash love? We all know the sickest albums were Very Proud of Ya, and Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes! haha fuck sing the sorrow and everything else. the only good song on sing the sorrow was dancing thru sunday it was the closest thing to punk on the album. i like art of drowning though. it was good. it was like the step before they went all pussy so its the inbetween stage.

  25. d.... ....

this isnt old AFI....do people just ignore the first 3 lol

  26. A.... ....

lol same thing" i grew up with Sing The Sorrow! eveyr single song means A LOT for me. I dont think Decemberunderground and Crash Love blows tho, they are just different.

  27. M.... ....

big surprise a sing the sorrow kid created this list rofl.

  28. A.... C....

    lol n'sync

  29. R.... ....

THE ENDING PIC IS TOO MUCH! Completely caught off guard. Lol.

  30. B.... ....

    Mine would be
    1: Art of Drowning
    2. All Hallows EP
    3. Sing the Sorrow
    4. Shut your Mouth
    5. Black Sails
    6. Very Proud
    7. December
    8. N'Sync
    9. Crash Love

  31. 1.... ....

This song is beyond pure ownage... I think its my fav afi song, and i like a lot.

  32. Z.... R....

Davey Havok, your name is only surpassed in its greatness by your voice.

  33. F.... ....

@AWSKAR It's cool man. We all have different tastes. I would have put the EPs but there wasn't enough space. Since I put that list I've grown a lot more accustomed to DU and CL, they're both decent albums in their own right, CL more so than DU. I like Crash Love better because it's a more genuine and heartfelt album - DU was kind of a popularity and money stab. DU is still okay, I like the cool atmospheric stuff they put in it. I still have to hold StS is the best though.

  34. M.... Q....

@AWSKAR Listen to One Single Second on Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes. Maybe Third Season, those do it for me.

  35. M.... Q....

@FamiPunk Ahh man I can't hate on you, but I have to knock your number one to below Shut Your Mouth. And BTW, you should have their EP albums in there too, Fall Children and also the A Fire Inside EP. I can't knock you man, I was a fan until STS, and I sort of liked it but could sense the direction they were taking, after that I barely played their new stuff.

  36. M.... ....

    @4444ffears WOOOOOOOOT!!!!

  37. X.... T....

@Kakashi67468 whats wrong with weighing over 200 pounds? I like my weight

  38. J.... U....

@FamiPunk DU and CL aren't bad, just different. Affliction and Kill Caustic are heavier than anything they'd done since '97.

I guess I can't argue for CL. It's an acquired taste; just give it more of a chance.

  39. M.... L....

afi is awesome, period. haters are gonna hate.

  40. J.... ....

DU is decent, Crash Love eats shit.

  41. C.... ....

I love old AFI, and especially this cd, but I'm really aggravated about people bitching about their new music.. it's their choice. They didn't sell out.. it's just how their music changed over the years. Hate or appreciate; They don't care, nor do I.

  42. J.... H....

@FamiPunk Crash Love is pretty good imo, it's just different. People who love Answer That/Shut Your Mouth probably look at Sing The Sorrow the same way STS fans look at CL. Decemberunderground is a disgrace though.

  43. C.... H....

@FamiPunk Decemberunderground has helped me a whole lot. I related to Crash Love, but not in the same deep interpersonal way.

  44. F.... ....

@Aris94 I'm not going to argue. I know I like all of AFI, just some of it more than others, like most people like certain things more than other things. You're not cool because you try and act like you know other people better than they do themselves. Fuck off.

  45. A.... ....

@FamiPunk You're not cool because you don't like their new albums... just saying.

  46. T.... T....

@FamiPunk As many allready said STS was the peak of AFI. Such a epic album. From this point it could sadly go only down. But thats life :-) You cant create mastepiece every day.

  47. Q.... ....

Art of Drowning is their best album, and this is their best song... i'm a sucker for 'Whoas' Then STS, then All Hallows e.p (can't forget that, it was sick!) then Black Sails, Then DU. then shut your mouth, and very proud of ya, then crash love.... Black Sails to Sing the Sorrow was such a great period for them, wish i'd seen them touring Sing the Sorrow, Miseria Cantare is the best intro ever...

  48. T.... ....

    For me:
    1. Sing The Sorrow (perfect combo of old and new AFI, absolutely AMAZING album)
    2. The Art of Drowning (has some hardcore stuff but adds a little more singing to it, it just clicks really well)
    3. Decemberunderground (yea, gonna get shitted on this hard, but I think is a very good album)
    4. Black Sails in the Sunset
    5. Crash Love
    6. Shut Your Mouth
    7.Answer That
    8.Very Proud of Ya

BUT I love all their albums so rankings don't matter TOO much to me =D

  49. F.... ....

@Danceislifebro @MakeshiftWings39 @Austhesauce @Nercrophage Since last time, I've listened to every album. This is my new list:

1.Sing The Sorrow (DIverse, great flow, definitive style, best lyrics)
2.Art of Drowning (Diverse, hardcore roots, Good Lyrics.)
3.Black Sails (Earnest, raw, God Called)
4.DU (Deep songs, intricate, new sound)
5.Crash Love (matured, good plain rock, diverse)
    6.SYM (Raw, progressive, earnest)
7.Answer That (First album, catchy, fun.)
8.VPoY (More of the same as ATASF)

  50. D.... ....

I actually liked half the songs on Decmberunderground. I think it's better than a lot of people give it credit for. But that's just me :P

  51. A.... ....

AFI have become my role models. They helped me through so many things... I was going to commit suicide, but their music saved me, because I finally felt someone knew what I felt like, had been through what I'd been through, and actually CARED for once. They've become my role models; I'm Straight Edge because of them, and I write music and poetry because of them. They gave me a goal, they gave me a place to hide from the cruelty of the world: Their music.

  52. F.... ....

@FamiPunk Don't forget the All Hallow's EP. Short but sweet :D

  53. M.... S....

I has a bucket... no they be stealing my bucket..... WHY

  54. x.... ....

Oops my bad I meant idc

  55. x.... ....

Idk what anybody says lol. I've been listening to the band for a good while and all the albums are pretty good. I'm not doin' any lame ass complaining and bitching cuz I'm mature enough to see that it's just stupid to do that. AFI will always be good. Just givem more time.

  56. D.... K....

@Phoenixsinger93 no way sing the sorrow should be placed so low, it was their best one! Art of Drowning should also be higher.

  57. E.... M....

I first saw AFI in 1997 when I was in 7th grade. Every album up to The Art Of Drowning was and will always be amazing to me. This album alone got me through some crazy shit some how.

  58. J.... H....

@Kakashi67468 you know what i say? Its all AFI and i love it, they are all amazing

  59. L.... L....

    @HeadlessCorpse89 Fuck yes, me too.

  60. r.... ....

whys everyone hating on crash love? yea it was a big jump from December underground and an even bigger step from there older stuff but its still a great album full of so much more meaning i mean just the name loving something even though its pain and completely self destructive its such classic afi but with a new twist

  61. C.... P....

@doodcruise I love every album and have been following them since the early 90's. would that be the cult group?

  62. D.... S....

id say theres 2 groups..cult afi and new afi.

  63. D.... S....

@Kakashi67468 all hallows and a fire inside ep both had epic trademark afi songs on them toooo

  64. I.... M....

@FamiPunk Thats the top 10 list of the greatest rock albums EVER. I gues the decemberunderground and crash love are the other two. But probably not.

  65. F.... ....

1: Sing The Sorrow (I grew up on that album, and I love every song)

    2: Art of Drowning

    3: Black Sails

    4: Shut Your Mouth

    5: Answer That

6: Very Prouf of Ya (I haven't heard too much of it)

7/8: Decemberunderground or Crash Love, they both blow it

  66. T.... ....

people seem to enjoy list making, so here's mine

1:Art of Drowning (yes, BEFORE black sails)
    2:Black Sails in the Sunset
3:Decemberunderground (sorry for liking multiple genres)
    4:Sing the Sorrow
5:Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes
    6:Crash Love
    7:Answer That and Stay Fashionable
    8:Very Proud of Ya'

Don't get me wrong I love their earlier stuff, but they were short, so some priorities needed sorting haha

  67. L.... ....

@revivethe90s 2. The Art of Frowning?

  68. N.... R....

@Kakashi67468 aw how sweet! i dont think im evr going to meet him tho lol :P

  69. N.... R....

sing the sorrow got me through sum rly bad times :P

  70. H.... P....

i think mine is the most accurate
    1. tie between all of them.

  71. E.... ....

@Kakashi67468 Since everyone else is doing it here's mine for the time being

1). Sing the Sorrow (and frankly the best album that I've ever listened to)
    2. The Art of Drowning
    3).Black Sails in the Sunset
    4). Decemberunderground
    5). Crash Love
6). Answer that and Stay Fashionable
    7). Very Proud of Ya
8). Shut your mouth and open your eyes.

  72. V.... M....

@DaveyH123 I love all their material, but I do like their old stuff better. Yeah, I'm only 16, but I can't help that. I can't make you change your mind, but please try not to piss off us younger fans. I'm not one of those little teens that are all "OMGZ, JADE'S SO HAWT!!". I actually respect the band, and everything they've put out for their fans.
You can reply to this comment, but I'm done. I'm tired of arguing. I'm not being a coward, I'm just done.
    Have a nice day =)

  73. V.... M....

@DaveyH123 Just... read what ZOMGburntpancake said. gawd, people like you bug me so

  74. D.... S....

    1.All Hallows ep.
2.Shut your mouth and open your eyes.
    3.Black sails.
    4.The art of drowning.
    5.A fire inside ep.
    6.Sing the sorrow.
    7.Very proud of ya.
8.Answer that and still stay fashionable.

  75. m.... ....

    i disagree. it should be:
    1. A Fire Inside
    2. Sing the Sorrow
    3. DECEMBERUNDERGROUND
    4. Crash Love
NOTE: sorry if anyone disagrees with me, its just my opinion

  76. b.... ....

the art of drowning has to be one of there best albums<3

  77. t.... ....

    sing the sorrow
    AOD
    decemberunderground
shut your mouth and open your eyes
    very proud of ya
    black sails
crash love[still good even though at the bottom]

  78. A.... ....

    1. art ofdrowing
    2. black sails
    3. Sing the sorrow
    4. very proud
    5. crash love

    just my opinion :P

  79. a.... r....

crash love is great.... AFI is been around for 20 years now... music matures with their members as well

  80. w.... H....

badass song. the new stuff is lame

  81. w.... H....

this song is bad ass. and as far as the arguing i am going to side with th e people that like th e old stuff. the new stuff is too emoish

  82. T.... T....

We will just have to disagree, i think their late material cant touch black sails or shtu your mouth. I am hoping for a re-birth from AFI.. main stream or not.

  83. L.... L....

@Murdokk73:: Dreamworks kill talent? No, I have to disagree with you. Sing the Sorrow is an AMAZING album. Yes, AFI's music did evolve, but for the better. Each album gets better and better, IMO. And just like someone else pointed out, their music has been changing after every album.

Of course, most people are going to like the older stuff, but AFI isn't gonna be putting the same music out that they were back in the early 90's, that will put a big restriction on AFI's music. They want to grow.

  84. T.... T....

While it is true AFI's albums have shown their evolution, it is obvious that big record labels like Dreamworks kill talent. They are more interested in quantity, not quality. Just look at Rise Against. While on Fat, they were amazing, now...they have captured a new audience of teenie boppers. Both AFI and Rise Against have the capability to produce amazing material that would live forever... but because of their business choices they are doomed to radio pop until they fade away,

  85. B.... ....

@jamesgaybetkerjr Actually, you sir are an ignorant piece of s**t. If you weren't , you would have explained why they suck.

  86. J.... ....

I knew I wasn't the only one to hear it!

  87. J.... ....

haha I swear ever time i listen to this song I hear Davey sing:
"No Need To Worry I Am Just Another Lobster."
and then in the background the others say
"You Will See Me The Sea Creature"

Tell Me I'm Not The Only One To Hear This?

  88. H.... ....

Haha, the end is funny. NOOO, they be taking my bucket!

  89. D.... ....

    agreed,

    1. Black sails
    2. shut your mouth
    3. AOD
    4. answer that
    5. very pround of ya
    6. sing the sorrow
    7. crash love
    8. decemberunderground

  90. D.... C....

    mi cancion favorita de afi

  91. a.... ....

i think they should have changed their name before the made decemberunderground and afi wpuld stay the great band who they were before!

  92. C.... ....

AFI did rule the 90's. But C'mon, cut them some slack, They've been a band since 1991. Evolving is bound to happen. Am I saying I hate "old" AFI, absolutely not. Like I've said before, there is no "old" or "new" AFI. There is only AFI. They will keep doing what they do best, music.

  93. I.... ....

Kawaiikaruson : I agree, many people did not know AFI then why all this album is so recent that it is not so ... I love this song xD

  94. G.... ....

totally agreed...i like "Very Proud of Ya " too

  95. g.... ....

yah i understand what you are saying. i think every afi cd was a little bit different from the previous one, but the cd that made the biggest change and the transition into new afi is sing the sorrow.

  96. g.... ....

No way is this new AFI. They make the transition at Sing the Sorrow, and loose almost all of their old sound at December Underground.

  97. w.... ....

i thought so. he deffenently copied nicks voice though. which i dont like. his voice is way too smooth for pyschobilly. one of the reason i dont like tiger army

  98. w.... ....

at 1:52 it sounds like nick 13 or is it davy?

  99. T.... M....

if you only like old afi, your not an afi fan. to be an afi fan you gata like all there stuff like i do. if you only like answer that stay fashionable - black sales or drowning, your just a fan of some albums. but me, im afi addict from 1992- 2009 (92 was when they formed, dont give me crap that there 1st real album was 97, i know)

  100. D.... ....

i love all of AFI's music, but i pefer Black Sails in the Sunset and newer. AOD has awesome songs and this one i keep getting stuck in my head =D
