AFI - A Single Second Lyrics

Oh my God! My God this can't be happening!
God tell me, tell me this isn't real!
I can't believe all that I have
foreseen is finally happening.
I cannot for a single second stand the way I feel.
I always knew. I always saw it coming.
Enveloped now, encased by my worst fear.
I've never felt the nausea of longing to feel nothing,
I never wanted to cease to
exist, just disappear. Fear memories are all that lie ahead.
Never have I felt so lost. Memories dull my senses.
Fear tragedy is all that lies ahead.
Never have I felt so dead.
Once felt so warm, now I'm fucking freezing.
I am the once embraced abandoned one.
I raised my eyes up to the light in hopes of finding healing;
no relief was mine, I was burnt, by the sun.

  4. J.... B....

This is the best AFI album to me and I wish they were still putting it out like this today. All the songs hit the mark on this album for sure. Don't know what has happened to music these days

  5. A.... ....

Drums on this song are phenomenal dawg

  6. A.... P....

    Best afi song period.

  7. I.... L....

This is my favorite song off my favorite A.F.I. album... I made a whole review about "Shut your mouth and open your eyes" if anyone cares to check it out! https://youtu.be/O0mGwl6kKEA

  8. m.... j....

    Change when I see people

  9. M.... A....

All AFI is amazing, theyre an amazing band and always bring something new to us AFI fans. Everyone has an opinion of what they like, and if you cant accept the fact theyve changed then just dont listen to it and stop bashing them for changing their sound.

  10. I.... f....

Listened to this on full blast with headphones - worth the tennitus

  11. J.... T....

AFI before Davey Havok ate enough soy to forget he was once punk and became his mum 🤣
    Great album

  12. G.... R....

I've been checking it some of AFI's older stuff and I love it. I don't care for (much) of their emo stuff. My limit for emo is Saosin.

  13. D.... A....

    TEMÖN!

  14. R.... P....

"Fear memories are all that lie ahead
Never have i felt so lost
Never have i felt so dead."

  19. D.... ....

AFI video comments are always so awful.

    D.... ....

    @Fabulous Killjoy Wahey, imagine dragons.

    D.... ....

Ellen Silvally I can do as I please. Go away. I can like punk, metal, gothic rock, emo and Imagine Dragons at the same time.

    D.... ....

    not everyone

    sure some are annoying

    D.... ....

@Fabulous Killjoy Sorry, I didn't expect you to take it as offense. They're literally my favourite band too. I have all their albums, just in my part of England, when we say 'wahey' we just mean cool.

    D.... ....

    Ellen Silvally ohhh I'm sorry!

  20. A.... M....

    @1:22 when it hits

  21. D.... D....

I think they were great. They still are. they changed their style but still not bad to each their own.

    D.... D....

I agree, the new stuff is okay, it's a huge difference (miss murder and later) to what I grew up on. AFI is one of those extremely unique bands, I consider myself extremely lucky to have grown up in the 80/90's

  22. a.... p....

this is when they were Another Fucking Idoit, not a flame inside

    a.... p....

austin punx they were Asking For It, Anthems For Insubordinates and then A Fire Inside.

    a.... p....

They were never anything other than A Fire Inside.

    a.... p....

Yep they were, Brendan is right. Read the CD inserts.

  23. M.... G....

the hardest afi song ever made

    M.... G....

first afi song I ever heard like 17 years ago, still love it

    M.... G....

Yeah they went pretty hard from like 95-01. It was awesome.

    M.... G....

Max Gandara probably my favorite they ever made.

  24. D.... M....

@Jade Puget Thank you for turning my favorite punk band into softcore emo 15 yr old girl crying music.

I cannot describe how bad Puget is compared to Stopholese. Fucking eunuch.

  25. j.... d....

    this song *******

  26. D.... H....

The Millennium ruined just about everything. I pour one out for my once favorite band.

    D.... H....

@Doug Halleran Yuppp, this was my favorite song of theirs. Oh well, there will always be new bands.

    D.... H....

+Doug Halleran I knew I was done with these assholes when davey posted "ate some tacos today! got to hit the cardio extra hard tonight!" on their fucking website in 2001. yuck. how did they use to be so badass?!

  27. C.... ....

    MEMORIES DULL MY SENSES

  28. A.... R....

Whenever I listen to this song, even if I'm out in public, I can't help screaming 'once felt so warm now I'm fucking freezing!' One of my all time favorite AFI songs, hands down

  29. R.... D....

My all time favorite afi song.

  30. V.... ....

Before AFI became a total f'n embarrassment. ;)

    V.... ....

    Lol. You're opinion is shit.

    V.... ....

You had to (edit) 7 characters?

    V.... ....

Youtube comment sections never disappoint. There's something infinitely entertaining about reading people fighting about personal opinions, props to all of you!

    V.... ....

You were right with this comment

    V.... ....

What ever happened to Tiger Army?

  31. L.... R....

was so strange to hear this at soundwave yesterday! but I'm not complaining!

  32. S.... V....

Wow, I've been listening to AFI for a LONG time now, and this is the first time I've ever heard this song.
I mean, I heard it on the I Heard A Voice show, but seeing as they brought in Nick 13 I assumed it was a song from the band he was a member of (I believe it's Tiger Army? i don't know I've never heard of him or the band, hence why I thought this song wasn't from AFI)
    either way, this is awesome!
I never knew they made such old school punk-like music, but I like it.

  33. L.... C....

    Dat back vocal.

  34. D.... F....

all afi kicks ass, YES some is better but who the efffin cares? It's AFI BABY!!

  35. L.... M....

The best AFI song period.  Nick 13 makes it awesome.

    L.... M....

    LeeRoy Martin fuck yeah

    L.... M....

My favorite song ever. Sad as fuck the band has completely abandoned this sound. Hurts me a lot

  36. a.... p....

Oh, my god, the BITCHING. You don't have to like your new stuff, Jade said at one point he respects fans who don't like the new direction and they moved on from being fans, but why hang around whining on every fucking AFI video ever? Just listen to the old stuff if you want, and move the fuck on. As for the people who say they've lost their passion and talent... that's just being ignorant. You may not like their direction, but to deny the talent and passion they still possess? Ridiculous.

  37. O.... 1....

I never see anything on any AFI video except people arguing about which style is best and why AFI does or does not suck now.

*sigh* Davey would not be proud.

    O.... 1....

Oswin 1337 he shouldn't be proud, he ruined an awesome band...

    O.... 1....

    daveys a sellout...who cares

    O.... 1....

    Cool take

  38. j.... ....

your right, because saying oh after every word, and dressing in their black suits as they laugh to the cash bank isnt selling out. SHut the fuck up , sing the sorrow was the only mainstreme album that they tried to put passion into. Thats why its their greatest album, december and crash just copied what made them famous, and I guess the singinig of vampires was about emotion also. loser.

  39. r.... ....

Seeing them before Sing the Sorrow came out was amazing. Don't get me wrong, some of the new stuff is alright, but Nitro Years or bust

    r.... ....

Definitely a different atmosphere at shows when STS came out, it took a bit of the edge off.

  40. E.... ....

I love their old stuff, and I'd love to see this period of AFI live, but I don't want them to go back to making this kind of music. I don't like when bands regress.

  41. F.... ....

They are a band that is always changing and I think that is what's beauty of AFI. Guys aren't afraid to try new things and aren't ashamed to embrace new genres. I respect everything they've written during their career. Some albums appeal to me more than others, but I understand why they have decided to take new paths. It's understandable why their songwriting has changed from angsty hardcore-punk to alternative rock. They are in their late 30's now, can't expect them to write like 20 year olds.

  42. J.... V....

Regardless afi has always had some tasty tunes despite the fact they went all twilight ill cut my wrist for you, you have to respect there love for wat they do..

  43. T.... K....

First heard them in 6th grade, 1999. Black Sails. Hooked. I had no idea what half the shit they were singing about meant, but as a result, my writing skills went through the roof! I bought my first album at the cd store when it came out in october of 2000 and that held me until 2003 with sing the sorrow. After that, I grew apart from them, but like a childhood friend, it happens. people go their own ways. Definitely helped make me who I am today, and I'm better for it.

  44. M.... B....

Dude. I feel you. They were my favorite band for so f*king long. I went to see them back in '09 after Crash Love, and I shit you not, they played for 45 minutes. It was horrible. They played the "hits" from Sing the Sorrow, MAYBE one song from The Art of Drowning, and then nothing older than that. I was heartbroken. =/

  45. H.... ....

The current band style sucks. I'll never support them again, and they were one of my favorite bands for a period of 5 years. Their "evolution" sucks. Sorry

    H.... ....

Wow I know what you mean. Just left a comment pretty much saying the same thing. I only first heard them on the radio when their trendy stuff came out and now that's old too, but not nearly as old or as good is their earlier music like this. I have this CD and two other old ones that I was lucky to even find since I didn't like any of their newer music like "girls not grey" or any of that trendy crap that they play on the radio without ever playing their true punk roots like on this album

  46. c.... ....

Now they express themselves by sticking penises in butt.

  47. I.... M....

I love AFI no matter what. Everything they put out is just fucking amazing.

  48. I.... D....

weird because only songs I ever heard on the radio by them was Miss Murder and Medicate. Just because they write songs to NOT be on the radio does not mean they will NOT be on the radio. It's like telling someone that Rancid's Time Bomb is radio material cause it was played on the radio a few times.

  49. j.... ....

Sorry you were such a dumb little dickfuck that I had to reply... Afi are "singing for kids" now... Listen to their interview on the punk show, they stated they do not write songs to be heard on the radio.. I am pretty sure miss murder and just about ever song on crash love are radio written songs. They lost their cleverness, their emotion, and attitude on life. So shut up muffinbuttdickwhipe.

  50. J.... R....

    primus sucks!

  51. J.... R....

"I wish they would go back to their old style." We can't all play hardcore our entire lives, sometimes we have to grow up.

  52. A.... G....

Would you want to play the same music for 20+ years? Not to mention davey havok's lyrics remain extremely well thought out & full of personal meaning. Just as his beliefs/opinions/interests grow it seems inappropriate that the music would remain stagnant. Artists perform for their own personal expression as well as our enjoyment. Who's to judge them for reaching audiences today that their 90's style may have missed. I'm sure you'll "sell out" but chances are very few will ever know about it.

  53. D.... o....

what the FUCK happend to afi -.- ' .. Old one ftw

  54. v.... ....

Best AFI song imo, but best AFI Album is "very proud of ya" i dont like the new stuff...

  55. P.... R....

And are you really gonna hate on the guy because medically speaking, he can't scream like that anymore or he WILL lose his voice and not be able to sing at all? Some fucking people....

  56. x.... ....

    Skrillex sucks balls

  57. S.... F....

who realizes nick 13 in the background singing

  58. L.... ....

    memories =)

  59. K.... B....

Crash love is just fine, not my faviorite AFI album but still very good. AFI is a good band to listen to when you have different feelings. Answer That and Stay Fashinoble might be good when you want to get pumped up. Crash Love is good when life is getting you down and you want more emotional stuff to listen too. All AFI is fine. And yes Im 14, but so what? I still listen to the Misfits, Youth Brigade, and all the bands that made punk. I listen to alll AFI because all AFI is worth listening too.

    K.... B....

Agreed! I love both the Hardcore Punk era of AFI and later more melodic/emotional era of AFI. Still talented even if their music styles did change over the years.

    K.... B....

Still a quit some of their later work is kinda cringy. Miss murder.... ew.

  60. T.... B....

wow..this is the first old afi song i ever heard i never knew they sounded like this..nice! both "new" afi and old afi is great

  61. C.... ....

@spawnman1328 Second Davey Havok had fucking throat surgery, he can't s cream like this anymore... He should be commended for being as amazing as he is (and he is jsut as good just different). If you want to listen to the same sound over and over again but don't make it seem like the rest of us are stupid for having open minds in our musical choices.

  62. M.... M....

i jizz my pants every time i hear this song.

  63. S.... ....

@kyucklebeans I think CL is one of AFI's best albums and I'd take it over their hardcore punk stuff any day. Also, try listening to The Faceless if you want something that'll grow you a pair.

  64. w.... ....

@AFIfreak4life1 lol for real i loled hard on how stupid that was no joke crash love is amazing from start to finish just like every album =]

  65. G.... ....

i love the chorus to this song so much!

  66. A.... S....

    y does everything gotta b "post" hardcore now :{

  67. w.... ....

um shut up people they still do this song live many times and it sounds great they play all their stuff so shut it assholes who dont like the new along with the old.

  68. G.... ....

i love old afi like this. sure its a damn shame they dont make this kind of music anymore but at least they still play quite a bit of this, i saw them two years ago and they even played songs from thier first album

  69. A.... ....

@AFIfreak4life1 they embraced there gayness... no joke but I mean, it's kind of true. Why else wouldn't they make amazing music like this. they would be doing gay people a great deal of good to do some music like this now, cause there a re a lot of people who are lost that will never hear this and get that great feeling of understanding.

    A.... ....

    AKAMUSICkeepit100 You're an idiot.

  70. A.... ....

I was raised on this music, and proud of it.

  71. S.... D....

This is what I love about AFI on youtube. While you do have to deal with those Miss Murder bitches you don't have people glorifying drugs, beer, sex, ETC

  72. S.... ....

    @GreyShadowUchiha I concur.

  73. S.... ....

    @PaMeLaBbY13 No, for girls.

  74. T.... ....

    Good song

  75. m.... m....

can't believe i forgot about this song, thanks for uploading

  76. Z.... V....

    @1580drums yup ^.^

  77. Z.... V....

@PaMeLaBbY13 what the hell thats the stupidest thing i've heard about that album yet

  78. T.... ....

    love the screaming and energy.

  79. j.... ....

    old school

  80. Z.... V....

for starters its not how they choose to express themselves anymore

  81. K.... Q....

    great song
