Afghan Whigs, The - Going To Town Lyrics

Lover mine
Get your coat and come outside
I wanna take you for a ride
On into town

Lover fair
We'll be looking sharp, I swear
I want them all to stop and stare
When we take 'em down

Go to town, burn it down, turn around
And get your stroll on, baby

I'll get the car
You get the match
And gasoline

And as we ride
Away into the countryside
I feel as though I must confide
There is a cost
When you say
Now we got hell to pay
Don't worry, baby, that's okay
I know the boss

Great band that only a select few have/will discover, therefore, we have a rare thing of beauty in our hands.

Who deceived you to shoot this video? And why that clappy synthesized sound?

    D.... H....

Homage to "Housequake". That tour they;d open with it and do the "Tell me who in the house..." bit.

never knew there was a video for this song. i can now say w/ certainty that this video is 100% not like the mental video i had for this song all these years.

  16. M.... M....

I've always dismissed The Whigs as just another grunge band all this time. Now, I'm having a blast discovering them for the first time. They were a band ahead of its time.

I've been on their wagon for a long time, don't even remember where I first heard them but quickly jumped aboard for a wonderful ride. First active in 1986 I was 30 y.o.(really? Dammit, yes.) in college I think. Probably on a late-night alt-rock station. At that time only a few companies owned all the radio and t.v. stations in our area. So the radio had a set playlist handed down from above and no one strays. So no rogue DJ doing his thing. Not more than once. But one station at 9 p.m. Sunday night let an alt-rock DJ bring in his own CD's and mixes and play them for three hours with only a few commercials. I actually met the alt-rock guy and burned a little herb with him. Man he was way ahead of times for this little podunk Cowford, FL.
