Adam Ant - Place In The Country Lyrics
All I thought I wanted was a front door
All I thought I wanted was a place in the country
Now I realise I wanted so much more
Some I love but you I adore
But you're off the beat
The move your brains are thinking
Doesn't reach your feet
You got to get this complication out your head
Or find another man instead
All I thought I wanted was a front door
All I thought I wanted was a place in the country
Now I realise I wanted so much more
Some I love but you I adore
You listen very close to what the bad girls said
In all those crumby articles and in my bed
They said I'm just a stripper not afraid to strip
I got my brains rattlin' my hips
Ok, Marco, let's hear what you can do
All I thought I wanted was a front door
All I thought I wanted was a place in the country
Now I realise I wanted so much more
Some I love but you I adore
You've got the kind of looks
That make a dead man stare
But when it comes to working, honey
You ain't there
I try to tell you nicely but the screaming starts
You're playing ping pong with my heart
All I thought I wanted was a front door
All I thought I wanted was a place in the country
Now I realise I wanted so much more
Some I love but you I adore
All I thought I wanted was a front door
All I thought I wanted was a place in the country
Now I realise I wanted so much more
Some I love but you I adore
All I thought I wanted was a front door
All I thought I wanted was a place in the country
Now I realise I wanted so much more
Some I love but you I adore
All I thought I wanted was a front door
All I thought I wanted was a place in the country
Now I realise I wanted so much more
I've heard enough don't wanna hear no more

my daughter thought a was mad listening 2 this then a played my vinyl lps lol x
Love the rockabilly sensibility that runs as a fine thread from the earliest version of A & TA to AA's first few "solo" records. A sign of true musicianship is this ability to mutate without fracturing. TFP!
VERY Antmusic
I first heard this album at summer camp in 1984. My first impression of it, as I remember, is that it didn't sound like anything that any one else was doing. Prince's "Purple Rain" was big then too. There were "The Eurhythmics", "The Human League", Eddie Grant. I t was the last burst of creativity in pop music until "Thriller" showed up and ruined everything.
eleven yrs old, dancing with my girlfriend to this in her room over n over till her mum told us to switch it off......innocent days
I would do anything within reason to be able to re live those days again. Saying that it broke my heart when one day in class she told me didn't like Adam anymore and had found a new band called Kajagoogoo. It still amazes me how strong your feelings could be at that age, I honestly thought my life was over. :)
Pure class
I get to see him next Saturday uvu ^^
How was it?
God, I love this man! He was so damn quirky. Nobody else could have pulled this off and still been cool. Marco is a huge contributor to this. Amazing guitar. This is the shitt!
Lyrics to this song are actually amazing!
Good old Adam.
Bring back the 80s, before the world went shite, and mad.
It sounds like a storm of guitars and drums and vocals.
Just because he's playing rhythm doesn't means that he's doing "not a lot". An elaborate solo would have ruined the song.
they released Desperate instead.... SHAME ,wrong move .
All I thought I wanted was a front door
All I thought I wanted was a place in the country
Now I realise I wanted so much more
Some I love but you I adore

Now this is an ANT track that back in the day should have been released BUT Desperate not Serious was released out of Adam fighting against the record co.
Another favorite! Thank you again!
If you're listening to this chances are you are NOT sitting still!!!
A good old, rockin', whippin', flippin', rootin', tootin', rompin', stompin' track by one of my 80's heroes!
