Adam Ant - Kick Lyrics
I was walking down the street
I saw a man with one arm
I was walking down the same street, same street
I saw a man with one arm
One day, two men, one arm......KICK!
I saw a young lady sigh
I was sitting on the same train, same train
I saw a check lady cry
One day, two men, one arm......KICK!

perfect drum intro!!!
Chris Hughes is credited with playing the drums on this, but it's actually Jon Moss of Culture Club fame Wnhy he wasn't credited idk
Drums !!
@ Sarah Sutherland:
I really thought it was John Moss playing the drums here. Before Culture Club he's been an antmember for a very short time, playing drums on two songs: the final version of Kick (this one) and final of Cartrouble (original A-side of this song). Maybe he did the final version of Whip in my Valise too, not that sure bout that.
Doesn't infact really matter. I must admit the sound is quite simular to Chris' style.
You're right, TheSanveana, it was actually the soon to be Culture Club drummer, Jon Moss, who played on this and the A-side, Cartrouble. Chris Hughes produced. Neither version of these was the original. The originals have shitty production and sound very raw. Thankfully they rerecorded them, multitracking Jon Moss's drums so it made it sound like they had two drummers, as they soon did. I think it sounds like Chris Hughes because he brought the unique production style that became the sound for Kings of the Wild Frontier and Prince Charming. And aside from producing, Chris' forté was drumming and percussion. Although it sound nothing like Adam and the Ants, I highly recommend his solo album, Shift, available currently on Amazon for $2.99 new or $1.99 used. Hurry though, some are priced as high as, no kidding, $87.14 (that seller is delusional). On Shift, Chris performs some songs by the minimalist artist Steve Reich. The first song, Drumming, is the best. Of course I originally bought it 20 years ago merely because it was by the drummer/producer of Adam and the Ants. Like I said, though, don't expect it to sound like A & the A. : )
@satanaugustine
Thank you for the tip! I listened some parts of Chris' Shift, and i was surprised of his music sounding that experimental, and smooth at the same time. I like it!
Question: with Do It A. Ant two versions of Cartrouble - prt1 & 2. What do you think of part 1?
@satanaugustine I'm curious.
I think the Kick, from the B Sides EP ( March '82, 3 Dirk outtakes) is brilliant, hopefully Dave Barbe was the drummer. That LP, plus Zerox was incredibly perfect.
By originals, do you mean demos? I always knew Jon Moss did work for The Damned and Adam Ant way back.
I believe, you're telling us, Merrick was present as producer on Cartroube Pt 2/ Kick! And that we're hearing Moss's drums produced by Merrick.
Oh yes, Chris Hughes on drums - definitely the best version of Kick
+Sarah Sutherland Agreed but the original from Dirk is a brilliant little knock out x
Its Jon Moss of Culture Club fame, actually!
is havin an ants revival this mornin. awesome tunes, great drums.
I have them every few months it seems now.
This was actually originally on the B side of the single "Car Trouble". Without a doubt, one of my fave B sides from Adam. HAS TO BE PLAYED LOUD!!!!
Better with decent headphones blasting out the bass :p
