Album version was the 'chic' that they admired in '79. Notice how even Bowie was jealous and sat in on some sessions while recording was happening. Then the Norway saw to it to
ask questions on the "robotic" nature of the sound. Ultimately it is a computer-generated rhythms. ...And then they 'over-laid' all added 'human' aspects like uh... vocals. That's why it sounds so pristine and decidedly one of the cooler records from that era!

This wasn't actually produced by Trevor Horn as someone posted below. I think he must have been impressed by the production because otherwise he probably would have re-recorded and mixed it for the album.

+Andy JS You are right in the sense that the original producer was Steve Brown. However the song was re-recorded for the album Horn producing.

This kind of white and funky eighties stuff ... excellent. Also great: most singles by Kajagoogoo, Scritti Politti, Duran Duran (the Notorious album) and ofcourse primus inter pares Level 42.

This album will always be my 2nd favorite (sorry, but nothing trumps "Purple Rain"). And just to be in the top 5 is a feat in of itself, especially since i listen to a lot of music.

Totally great from start to finish, probably because of the talents of Trevor Horn the producer. Over the top lush sound that just stood out a mile from other stuff at the time. Trashy pop, yes. Corny? Yes. Brilliant? yes.

Two producers on this Trevor just lets say polished it a bit more.
