ABC - Stranger Things Lyrics
I would walk away from you
If that's what you wanted
But when you look for something new
You can be so disappointed
Me for you and you for me
I wish I knew why people change
Suddenly
Will we ever be the same again
Stranger things have happened
Will we ever feel this way again
Whatever will be will be
We were learning to be human
To know that what you're looking for
Is not always what you see
It's funny how it used to be
Me for you and you for me
I wish I knew why people change
Suddenly
Will we ever be the same again
Stranger things have happened
Will we ever feel this way again
Whatever will be will be
Eternally
Sha la, sha la la

Why this wasn't a big hit I'll never know. One of the greatest voices in pop music.
Where are such subtle and wise tracks nowadays? Nowhere. We're dancing in a lake of shit. God thanks, some of us have ABC records.
Every time I hear it, "Stranger Things" rings true. Creating a paradoxical track edgy and smooth all at once is true testimony to Martin Fry's craft. Many feel ABC co-founder Mark White was indispensable, but listening to this one wonders. In my view the later work (from ABC) holds up as well as does the first effort, Lex/Luv, which would be, what...33-ish years gone past? ABC's changing cast were ever given short shrift in America, and I really don't understand it, will never understand it. With their uncompromising willingness to experiment, and their sense of style--sonic, thematic, and sartorial--they managed to elevate the bar a notch, maybe two. Count ABC among the best of the so-called New Romantics.
Martin the legend
at least their not amateur mystics. people change because they don't search for beauty and if you don't search, you dont find
Skyscraping was an amazing album, worth it just for the artwork photographs of Martin, he was & remains one cool bloke....!
Anyone who dismisses ABC post Lexicon of Love just doesn't get how very consistent and talented Martin Fry, Mark White and David Palmer are and have proven to be. The greatness of ABC is that they have never been shy about bucking trends or leading new ones. Masters of 80's pop, groundbreakers of the crossover of US House and British pop, and able to still create classy, listenable and basically enjoyable music almost 30 yrs on from that first burst of brilliance.
I hope they reintroduce this into the line-up of their future concerts. It's the best of their "new" songs, in my opinion.
Band Members have Come & Gone but the One thing that has always been Constant. Is the Talent of Martin Fry for without him there's no ABC.
sorry mate.. but without Mark White and Stephen Singleton there would have been no ABC it was there band Vice Versa and they asked Martin to join..
it was downhill after lexicon. end of story.
@Guenniistes: But Martin agrees in reinforcing it, participating in festivals like "Retro-whatever". I understand he gets to play, but I think he would not have the need to auto-declassify himself as "retro". He's not. "Retro" is a somewhat nonsense term.
First heard this in Seattle in 1997. I cried. ABC songs always touch a nerve in me. Did remixes ever surface from this single?
@VanityKillsABC: Agree. :-)
One of the greatest voices in music..
I love ABC***. "Skyscraping" was actually not a bad album.
Jonesfeld hit it on the nose. I love the title track "Skyscraping" ,but i cun't find it. Hmm , stranger things have happened.
fking brill
We told the guitarist for ABC they should do this song live. He didn't know what we were talking about.
Never have seen this...thanks!!! Great album this was, I agree with Kegmeister this should have been bigger!
That's nice of you to say. I always remember the 80's with fondness to the music of ABC and The Human League
No video as far as I know but the new album titled "Traffic" will be coming out soon.
Sky Scraping was a great album.
He will never reach the peaks of early ABC, but how can he without Mark White? Still, this track grows with each listen, and the strings make a welcome return. Light Years still the best song off that album, imo.
