People often say the Beatles were revolutionary. Maybe so, but to me -- ABBA holds up much, much better. I think they were quite possibly the best band ever created.

Benny Andersson (who wrote Abba songs, besides being the piano player), before Abba was for many yearsin a band called Hep Stars, who was nicknamed "the Swedish Beatles" , so simikar they were in looks and sound, and they were popular in nordic countries in the 60s and there are videos of them playing beatles songs (like Benny playing "Martha my Dear"). Even the Hootenay Singers (Bjorn Ulvaeus's band, he wrote almost all Abba lyrics) are also very inspired by the Beatles. And Abba was not a band until their 2nd record (pretty much Bjorn & Benny were the main act, featuring solo artists Anni-Frid and Agnetha). So go find some other band to trash. The proof that the Beatles are the best, is the fact that people compare them with Abba, instead pf Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd or The Who. If they were not the best, nobody would remember them.

I still believe ABBA would have existed on their own, though, once they came together, and I much, much prefer ABBA over the Beatles.. I despised the Beatles, but that's me, an old "cunt" who came of age with Elvis...and never liked any of the so-called English invasion bands, singers, or whatever. I liked Petula Clark, born in Wales, lived and married French, but she was old school...competitive with Elvis singing puppy-love songs.. You and I simply differ when it comes to ABBA versus the Beatles. So let's leave it at that.
