ABBA - Like An Angel Passing Through My Room Lyrics

Long awaited darkness falls
Casting shadows on the walls
In the twilight hour I am alone
Sitting near the fireplace, dying embers warm my face
In this peaceful solitude
All the outside world subdued
Everything comes back to me again
In the gloom
Like an angel passing through my room

Half awake and half in dreams
Seeing long forgotten scenes
So the present runs into the past
Now and then become entwined, playing games within my mind
Like the embers as they die
Love was one prolonged good-bye
And it all comes back to me tonight
In the gloom
Like an angel passing through my room

I close my eyes
And my twilight images go by
All too soon
Like an angel passing through my room

ABBA Like An Angel Passing Through My Room Comments
  1. E.... S....

Listened to the "From a Twinkling star to a passing angel". Still think this was the best version. Loveley. Perfect. Shouldn't be more complicated. And Frida's voice. My God. This is just pure goodness. Beautiful. Thank you ABBA! <3

  2. R.... R....

    Happy 74th birthday FRIDA ***

  3. U.... B....

I really adore the very last songs Abba did like this one as the last song on their last album and the very last song - The day before you came. For me those two songs are really amazing. It makes me wonder how upcoming stuff would sound if they were about to continue to make music in this direction. I would love to hear more of this kind.

  4. W.... P....

    Hauntingly beautiful!

  5. J.... P....

2:44 onwards Frida really shows her talent. Gorgeous.

  6. R.... D....

A quote attributed to Madonna in 97 claims that her cover of this track vastly improoved the song with her passionate and pitch perfect version.

    R.... D....

Well Madonna would say that wouldn't she? Of course she's totally wrong. Nothing could improve on the ABBA original.

    R.... D....

After the Lana Del Rey made up quote, another weird one from you,  Even more bizarre in that Madonna hadn't even recorded her version in '97.    Back to troll school for you.

  7. J.... B....

If you could write one song in your life !!!!! 🙂

  8. R.... T....

Sometimes simple songs like this that sound so easy to sing are oh so difficult to sing well but so easy to sing so bad. When she hits the high note, she knows she has done it well. But, I don't think this is the original that was put out by them.

  9. .... ....

    👑 Королева ❤️🌹🌹🌹👍🌟

  10. I.... R....

Lost my darling mother to cancer at age 54 This song reminds me of her last days of life The world as so very apt and will stay with me forever.

  11. T.... K....

    Absolutely sublime

  12. S.... ....

    Is this a lullaby?...

  13. R.... L....

I listed to an interview with Frida about singing the lead vocals for this song. She said she just decided she was going to sing it the way she thought it should be sung. Good for her, it is haunting, makes me want to cry.

  14. Z.... R....

Jesus christ what a song and what a voice for power of spirit and soul

  15. C.... T....

Every night when i go to bed i close the door but dont close it fully . Each night the door opens about 2 inches and closes again , always hear the door passing briefly over the carpet . Often wonder if it is a visitor !

  16. R.... P....

    ABBA forevwer!!!!!!!

  17. I.... K....

    My best ABBA-Song ever...and thank you mozpiano2

  18. E.... D....

I have sung this to my youngest daughter a couple of hundred times. And even though she is 11 now and almost as tall as I am, I still sing it to her on occasions when she is sick or hurting.I am a life long Abba fan. I'm her daddy.

  19. j.... s....

A song from my childhood when I believed.
"Only in the hearts of the innocent".

  20. D.... M....

Saddest song I have ever heard, almost unbearable to listen. It describes lone person remembering those beautiful rare little moments of happiness in the past, moments that are long ago gone. Very very sad song

  21. b.... h....

It was criticized that Agnetha and Frida didn´t sing a song together on "The Visitors". But my impression is that this caused a very fruitful competition between the two singers: their vocal performances on their last album are absolut stunning, each of them showed new sides and aspects of her voice.

  22. A.... K....

I love this song the album the visitors is great🍀👍🏻

  23. W.... M....

    Another abba classic

  24. M.... 1....

What a beautiful voice of Frida. My God!

  30. m.... S....

Good night mum, rest in peace❤

  31. s.... j....

    j"ai les larmes aux yeux

  32. R.... W....

she has such a beautiful voice a little deeper than agnetha but I got a tattoo of meta but I've got to tell you I wish they would not have put that after we found her voice it would have been more beautiful just listening to her voice she should have done more songs as the lead singer for all but she said that herself.

  33. A.... ....

I dont know why but when i listen to this song i feel like it hits the bottom of my heart and feelings. and i feel like crying.. OMG Frida. your voice is soo beautiful..

  34. W.... J....

Clear as a bell-- voice and face of an angel

  35. N.... N....

    I ADORE !

  36. J.... C....

Both girls were so beautiful and got such a fantastic voices

  37. T.... B....

This song brings you to tears

  38. G.... O....

This is such a beautiful song, Anni-Frid’s voice is absolutely incredible. Genius.

    G.... O....

SK E G Thank you for drawing my attention to my typo. I did of course mean, Anni-Frid.

  39. L.... R....

    Minunat!

  40. D.... D....

This song is so wonderful yet so heartbreaking. Love you ABBA x

  41. U.... 9....

    Frida 😃🎈💛

  42. S.... S....

I was listening to the Celtic Women version of this, I thought it was one of their originals 'till I read the comments. I'm like "THIS is an ABBA song?" Man that's a plot twist!

  43. N.... N....

it's one of the most unknown, but surely one of the best.....just listening voices with a little little bit of music....it's near perfection

  44. 1.... ....

Super, perfektní výkon ; díky Frído. :-))

  45. j.... a....

    Bellissima .

  46. p.... m....

It still makes me cry every time I listen to it, so true to life and perfect in its simplicity!

  47. E.... K....

    The best from the best.

  48. G.... H....

    Beautiful ! 🎵

  49. W.... O....

There has never been a voice quite like Anni-Frid's. It has the unique sweetness of a child combined with the sophistication of a woman. This could have been the vioice of "The Sounds" in Greek mythology who entranced passing seamen.

    W.... O....

Very perceptive comment-- I agree, her voice as I commented above, is like a clear bell, yet also like golden honey somehow-- very unique, very penetrating-- seems to go right through you.

    W.... O....

I have sung this to my youngest daughter a couple of hundred times. And even though she is 11 now and almost as tall as I am, I still sing it to her on occasions when she is sick or hurting.I am a life long Abba fan. I'm her daddy.

    W.... O....

In English - "the Sirens" - but so very true. Entrancing.

    W.... O....

    Very good quote

  50. M.... J....

Towards the end early 80s there popularity was on the wane!! People considered there music was naff!! 2018 and as you know you can never put good music talent down there records ie albums sell a bucket load.. the 2 MAMMA Mia movies are breaking box office records the musical stage version has been seen by millions..just shows too tell you the state of music today!!!

  51. M.... N....

Crisp, yet mellow and dark. Love falling asleep to the mesmerizing voice of Frida.

  52. l.... ....

    an absolutely captivating woman. stunning

  53. j.... a....

    Excelent, beautiful.

  54. K.... S....

I love and adore you. Bless you with all heart.xXxX.

  55. M.... C....

You should try the Madonna version of the song Like an Angel passing through my room

    M.... C....

I did... and that is a frightfully horrible version, simply gutless. Celtic Woman's version (Mairead Carlin) is absolutely beautiful as is Sissel Kyrkjebø's version.

  56. D.... G....

Frida sings this song at lowest notes but all are in vibrato.

  57. H.... G....

    BRAVO ABBA!
    Thank YOU FOR THE MUSIC!

  59. T.... ....

    SHHHH. Baby sleep.

  60. x.... ....

This Album is so sad. Seems befitting.....the fact that they broke up made me very sad....a lingering sadness that I think I will feel to the end of my days.

  61. W.... M....

    Both talented goddesses xxx

  62. h.... w....

... like the embers as they die,
    love was one prolonged goodbye...

  63. J.... f....

Best Album from ABBA ~ * ~ Jennie

  64. L.... H....

This song is so fucking beautiful

  65. M.... L....

Geee what à voice amazing pure

  66. M.... J....

I played on the organ at my local church !! Must admit it sounded Good When someone ask what it was called when I said it was an abba song they were surprised!!!!

  67. J.... R....

This song is so captivating, & so emotive, 'like the embers as they die, love was one prolonged goodbye' stunning. ABBA finding warmth even in heartbreak. This never was a single, but it was Frida's WINNER TAKES IT ALL. She lived those lyrics.

    J.... R....

very beautifully put-- it WAS her Winner Takes it All but without the recognition it might have been good for her to have

  68. D.... ....

    Two forgotten ABBA diamonds:
Like an Angel Passing through my Room - Frida
Slipping through my Fingers - Agnetha

    D.... ....

    DODO totaly agree👍🏻

    D.... ....

But this is ABBAs only song written for just one voice. Frida sings in the chorus of Slipping through my fingers.

  69. H.... T....

    Those final bars though

  70. H.... M....

    Grey on Frida is DIVINE

  71. H.... M....

When bad haircuts happened to gorgeous women. Her voice is ASTOUNDING.

  72. S.... M....

As a long life Abba fine this is one of my favourite song Frida sings with such velvety overtones wonderful

  73. I.... ....

Beautiful song! Surprisingly, Madonna does a nice cover.

  74. l.... ....

Ethereal. Esoteric. Other-wordly. Light years ahead of its time.

  75. r.... s....

    LOVE YOUR TREE

  76. J.... H....

The first time I heard this song I burst into tears. When preceded by "Slipping Through My Fingers" it has an emotional punch you can't handle at first. It's so powerful; reflective, melancholy yet tender. It's like a final hug from someone you know you will never see again. :(

    J.... H....

I have sung this to my youngest daughter a couple of hundred times. And even though she is 11 now and almost as tall as I am, I still sing it to her on occasions when she is sick or hurting.I am a life long Abba fan. I'm her daddy.

  77. H.... S....

    epic art !! such a beauty !!!

  78. o.... m....

I used to fall asleep to this song, especially during winter. Such warm comfort. In my top 5 favorites

    o.... m....

Lovely tune! But all those 80´s outfits! :D

    T.... G....

    Thor Garbin Kjenner
What's that got to do with anything
    So u r ugly so u shouldn't speak

  80. R.... M....

  81. j.... b....

This is one of the best songs I have heard

  82. M.... M....

I bought all the Abba albums and played the grooves off them. Was there ever a weak song? Nope.

    M.... M....

three to five minutes mostly .. a week would be too long for a song :P

    M.... M....

Yes the first album...that was bad

  83. j.... a....

    excelent Frida.

  84. j.... a....

    Magic music - thanks ABBA.

  86. E.... A....

Frida was the Best female singer in the pophistory. Respect!!!

    E.... A....

    Erik Andersson she still is

    E.... A....

I give Frida a 9.6 but only give Agnetha a 9.6. Oh, wait a minute I think I have that backwards. Oh well you get the idea!!!

  87. P.... ....

Very beautiful song! Like a lullaby.)))
I very like also the ballad "I Let The Music Speak" fromthe same album of ABBA "Visitors". There is the vocal of Anni-Frid too.

  88. N.... ....

I'm a man. But tears keep pouring out of my eyes.

  89. M.... G....

Only the original is the best by abba

    M.... G....

Your comment would have worked just as well without the words
    " by abba "

  90. O.... ....

The most beautiful note I have heard.

  91. p.... c....

The picture of her at 2:47!!!

    p.... c....

*Any* picture of Frida looks pretty good to me although I have to say that I'm not too keen on the thumbnail for this particular video!

    p.... c....

Lew Minati Looks fine to me

    p.... c....

@i cant think of a name i was forced to put one here I liked the way she looked when she smiling, with her hair down and longer. She is still to pretty for words to describe but here she looks either bored or unhappy.

  92. t.... ....

The last song from the last original album. They don't come better.

  93. I.... G....

How can such a wonderful sing fail not to make you cry?

  94. a.... r....

    waaaa rip thur mercy of

    a.... r....

  95. M.... C....

  97. K.... W....

Complete and utter BEAUTY ..Thank you again and again and again xxx

    K.... W....

    Karen Walker
    Totally agree

  98. l.... ....

Boring. Madonna sang it better, with better producton - and why the stupid tick tock noise! Madonna sang it with real emotion as was about her mother. ABBA version is so drawn out and makes you want to go to sleep!

    l.... ....

leev3blue - Madonna copied Frida. You have to remember that this is an ABBA original composition. The "tick tock noise" represents time passing by. This song was written by ABBA and is NOT about Madonna's mother! You must be music ignorant not to know that there is a difference between 'covering' a song and being able to create the song.

    l.... ....

This is an abba original how you can say this boring is beyond me!! You obviously have no taste in music !!!

    l.... ....

    leev3blue
    Maddona is a SLAG

    l.... ....

@Alan Smith haha! you said it!!

    l.... ....

@Alan Smith Got it in one word! : )

  99. A.... N....

This was my 1st time hearing this song and it made me cry tears streaming down my cheeks... Love the subtleties in Frida's deep voice & beautiful highs at the end, & I get the sense it was written from a genuine place... <3 ABBA!! Although I wasn't born until a few years after this was released:P

    A.... N....

Anna Marie I don't like Abba's dance songs as much as their other ones.

    A.... N....

You are not the only one...
