i heard this song in public at a flea market when i was in stockholm, it was my first time in sweden and to be in that city and i’d do anything just to be there once again

It's part of a musical about how music industry can destroy an artists' talent. It begins with THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC (celebrating the "gifts" of the main character, like singing), then, I WONDER (when she leaves her little town and simple life to try the artistic career) and, finally, I'M A MARIONETTE, when she gets some success, but, highly pressed by INDUSTRY demands,, commits suicide. Fantastic three-song opera.

Beautiful song - superbly sung by Frida. The composition hints at some of Benny & Bjorn's post-ABBA work, as it sounds like something that would work well in a musical production.

Growing up, I was an ABBA nut, major fan 😂..and I can remember this album being my favourite out of all the other LPs they did. Always loved the Art work cover, especially how they illustrated Agnetha x

Without this song I would not have moved to Sweden from London in 1988.

I had my window of opportunity in the spring of 1988. I had a career job, a great family and lots going on. But something was pulling me to Sweden.

I was debating it over and over in my head for several weeks. One evening I played an Abba album. Suddenly I actually "listened" to a song that I had "heard" a hundred times before and I shivered. Abba's words echoed through my head.

The record lasts for four minutes and as soon as the record ended the decision was made.

I handed in my notice at work and booked the ferry. Today it is 31 years since my last day in the UK prior to emigration.

My guess is just about everyone who moves to Sweden can relate to these words.

My favorite part of this song is Frida mispronouncing coward... I know she is Norwegian and English isn’t her first language but still, it’s hilarious.

The moment I heard it for the first time on a tape recorder I was so sure it's Frida who sung it.

One of my very favorite ABBA songs that never gets the respect it deserves. Even if it was cut from Mamma Mia 2, I'm glad it still exists as a deleted scene. It's just gorgeous, and was used well in the film.

"I Wonder" is supposed to be the "Let It Go" of Mamma Mia 2.

It is disappointing and stupid for the producer & director to cut this song number out of Mamma Mia 2.

That's why we don't have emotional sympathy for Lily James as the young Donna.

Der Text hatte mich damals 1978, da war ich 12, schon berührt. Vielleicht ahnte ich das nahende Ende meiner Kindheit. Auch ein Abschied.

What Frida can do with a note of music: spine-tingling! From the yodel in 'Fernando' to the last, lingering 'wrong' in this one...gorgeous!! My favourite Frida notes are the last 'down' in 'Andante Andante' and her operatic 'ahh' throughout 'The Day Before You Came'!!!

Yes, your so right. She also has a gift to give a song what it needs. On this, the listener can sense the 'pondering' of Frida. I'm particularly fond of like an angel....,she gives the song that 'agony' feel. Too many to list all but she's so so good!

This seems to be my favorite ABBA song which is a very unpopular opinion especially for a 17 year old.

@Fabian81 many people that I know have this attitude. They know "dancing queen" and "waterloo", and think Abba is all bubblegum pop.

@resireg I completely agree but it definitely wasn't "hip" to follow them in the 70s either. While others were listening to the Sex Pistols I was an ABBA fan...and crazy about Agnetha of course!

@Keith Davidson well, what surprised me was their lyrics. So many songs had such an upbeat sound, but the words were very deep and sometimes sad, like under attack or one of us

when I go to Kuwait where my first 13 years of life was,i will go on my street and just play this song and cry my ♥ out. I am 50 years old now.

I remember when I bought that album and I loved and still love the music by this amazing and unique band. But today being much older I realize the meaning of these wonderful lyrics. ABBA was a unique combination of voices and composers that the world might never see again. They were and they are still the best.

Really sad song. Reminds me of my sister and her family, they just migrated to another country. I miss them so much.
