He sounds wonderful but he is not the originator of this song. My grand uncle Reverend James aka Jimmy Anderson. I have only heard one singer who came close to the original song. This has more of a blues sound to it. Reverend Anderson wrote other songs and sang them around the states. R.I.H Reverend James Anderson.
Benita, my apologies if you were offended by the term "original". "Original" and "re-issue" are terms that are used by audiophiles like myself. It does not mean that Joe May was the original singer or songwriter of the song. It simply means it is the original version that Joe May recorded and not a later re-issue of his recording. Originals always sound better. Especially those that predate 1970. I hope this helps.
