I lost my grandfather January 2019 to liver cancer i was planning to go up to visit after i found out i called him every day and told him to hold strong till i get there he unfortunately passed away 2 days before my scheduled flight i have so many memories with him sitting in a hunting blind with his old lever action 30.30. 2 things i inherited from his was his truck and that gun. 2019 anyone I was hanging out with my family and my mom said I had a 22 rifle that I never new I had but it's my grandpa I didn't really get to meet wish I could say thank you for everything he did I just wish I could see him smiling but one day we will truly meet again

My grandfather passed before i could of met him, but i have his old marine hat that i don't let out of my sight, and fuck trying to get money out of it, i could be homeless and still have it with me.

I live in 10 hours away from the old house my grandparents lived in up in canada,he never taught me how to shoot as it was family tradition for father to teach his son , I had just reached the border in northern maine ,he had been in a coma for 7 hours but he died right then , didnt get to see him one last time. Even if i couldn't of talked to him wish i had made it, the last thing i have of him is his old .22 that he used to shoot small game with, that man taught me to be honest and kind i never appreciated him as much as when he was alive as i miss him now

I'm not really a gun person, more of a sword guy, but if I ever do have kids and grandkids, I would love to teach them to swordfight and pass down a sword my grandfather brought back from WW2. I know it's not exactly the same experience, but swordsmanship has taught me a lot in my life and I hope one day to pass those lessons onto the next generation

I've always only had one grandfather as my father's father died when he was 2 but my grandfather on my mothers side who is still alive thankfully is a grizzled old marine who served in Vietnam. I wasn't able to see him since I was 8 because of family issues. I am currently 15. He taught me to shoot two years ago with a S&W .22 handgun, a 20 gauge under-over, and a black powder .36 in the woods behind his house. He also got me hunter certified last year. He lives in Maine so about 5 hours away from me. When I hear this song I think back to when he taught me and it was the best trip I ever took and I've visited him as much as I can since then. I cant look at this song like i miss him currently but i look at it like I'm going to miss him when he passes. I will never forget the time I spent up there

I'm about to turn 47. I've got a decent gun collection to hand down with 5 grown boys and about to have the 5th grandchild to hand them down to. Here in Alabama, they'll get 'em, too.

Though I have a grandfather still living, the PawPaw i was closest to passed in 1981. He had no guns to hand down.....but his ring he brought back from WWII commemorating his destroyer's (Eberle) bombardment of Palermo Sicily in 1943-44 will be handed down to one of my sons. As far as I know, the grandfather i still have has no guns to hand down.
My dad passed (suicide) near 3 years ago and i did get one of his guns...a Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Magnum. It'll stay in the family for at least another couple generations.
Hopfully ALL my guns will stay in the family as long as any of my offspring that know who I am are still living.

My grandpa passed away this past February. I still have the gun he gave me Christmas of 2016. Stoeger Condor Supreme over and under double barrel 12 gauge. I’m taking it in my first dove hunt tomorrow.

When my Dad past away I received his original Ruger 10-22 that we used to kill a lot of wild pigs that we were able to trap..we would feed them out until someone in the community needed some pork out would come that rifle and down went a pig or 2 and we would skin them and cut up the meat for people.. THOSE WERE THE GOOD OL DAYS... well I'm 55 now and that Little rifle has a note between the stock and rubber pad.. it says l have left this rifle to you MY GRANDSON it was left to me by my Dad your GREAT GRANDPA...Treat it with love and respect and sometime when you are shooting it I hope you think of me and my Dad...I LOVE YOU from PAPA ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I have Pap's Savage 99 in the gun safe. She was made in 1927 and was a wedding gift to my grandfather from my grandmother. She still shoots beautifully. I was fortunate to harvest a few deer with it, but when I carry it, it isn't about hunting. With it on my shoulder and Dad's Zippo lighter in my pocket, it is the closest I can get to going for a walk with Pap and Dad...

My grandpa was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer when I was 10. He was given 5 years to live, he hurts everyday but it's been almost 6 years and he's still here. He has very few good days and suffers almost all the time, but I'll sit next to him whenever I'm over there and just listen to his stories. Hes a strong man. 76 and cancer free, but still fighting for his life everyday. Hes had some really bad days lately. Could barely stand up, but he promised me he would go with me when I take the truck up to get checked on.
I'm not getting any gun of his but I'm getting his truck.
I just wish he was in the shape he was in when I was little, but I'm very blessed hes still here

My grandma dont have much time left on this Earth and my pop isn't too far behind. I use to be afraid of my pop because he is a hard ass, but now we couldn't be any closer. My pop showed me how to load, shoot, take apart, and clean a gun. He said he's leaving me his guns but the one I'll have the most attachment with is his Ruger .44 Super Blackhawk, the 1st pistol I shot with him. I'll be buried with that gun.
