A-ha - Lesson One Lyrics
Come on say after me
I'm happy, happy as can be
Hip, hip hooray
Slowly learning that life is okay
Say after me
So here's a kid lesson, my number one
All's good that starts well and moves with the sun
So needless to say
I'm odds and ends
I'm me, oh
Today is another day to find you
Anchors away
I'll be coming for your love, okay
So here's a kid lesson, my number one
All's good that starts well and moves with the sun
So here's a kid lesson, my number one
All's good that starts well and moves with the sun
Say after me
I'm happy, happy as can be
Hip, hip hooray
Slowly learning that life is okay
I know that life's okay
I know that life's all good
I know that life can be wrong
A-ha
I know it's meant to be good
So here's a kid lesson, my number one
All's good that starts well and moves with the sun
So here's a kid lesson, my only one

A-ha Lesson One Comments
2:25 sounds like the chords from the FRIENDS intro :0
It could have been included in some Nintendo NES game and yet it is completely perfect.
I can see Morten hunting high and low for every copy of this version, to destroy without a trace left...
1:53 I feel like these lyrics are so modern. Just the way they’re sung.
0:41 seconds in and Ann from Little Britain gate crashes the demo!
Bem estranho haha, prefiro a versão que fez sucesso hahaha 😂😂😂 eu não gostei dessa não
@0:42 someone got his junk stuck in his zipper. Sounds vaguely David Byrne
0:41 What a human rooster sounds like.
Hahahahahahhaha iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiih
It's really interesting to see how the song evolved and changed after this point. Pretty inspiring tbh
The chorus fits with what the song take on me was about in terms of musically fitting with the moment, and the moment being the lyrical story of take on me not the video
Honestly I love both versions. I love the chorus in this! I’m glad tho that they released the other version bc it’s what really got popular and also showed off his amazing voice range 😍
0:41 Oh brother! XD
It's amazing how such a terrible song can become a pop culture landmark (one of my personal favorites) with a little finessing.
I can play take on me riff on piano and I absolutely love the different sound for the piano but same riff!
Using auto tune in the final version is the end result of a #1 hit , always knew he really couldn’t sing at all.
There was no autotune back then
Didn’t exist, nerd.
Glad it was only the first demo, not the final version.
No this is second demo version the first one was the impossible juicy fruit song by bridges but at that time pal & mags are the original and Morten wasnt even at that time
The original of the best song ever made like if u agree
What a cute little song lol
0:41 *Unnskyld meg hva pokker*
NO! MOM DO NOT MAKE ME LISTEN NOOOO
Holy sht. It's like a hideous Nintendo game from the 80s
Two words Alan Tarney
Heureusement que cela a été retravaillé lol car sinon je ne pense pas qu'ils auraient cartonné avec un tel refrain!
The synth quality is absolutely awful - but that chorus! INCREDIBLE! FANTASTIC! Decades ahead of its time!
0:40 it really be like that sometimes
this is a hidden gem
Except for the "EE EEEEE" XD
Is this 8-bit song from any NES games? O_o
And.... 0:40
OMG! What?!
Like a pirate yelling like a rooster! XD
What's this? Morten's evolving!
Congratulations! Your Morten has evolved into a- 0:41
A... rooster...?
AAAAA!!!! AAAAAAAAA! AIEEEEEEEEE!
music for 80"s arcade game. nintendo, sega, amstrad....
Jesus man, 3 years for a song to become a masterpiece
Is it weird that I like this song better than Take On Me!
No, so do I. It's much more interesting musically
0:20 hey this ain't bad 0:41 JURASSIC WORLD FALLEN KINGDOM IN A NUTSHELL
0:41 when someone gets the gun in fortnite before me
Pap HAHAHA
Hip-hip hooray...
Haha! It actually sounds pretty good though. This alternate chorus is so nice sounding.
Can't believe how bad the keyboard sounds are. It is just like those silly little cheap kids Casiotones you could get back then. Ridiculously different chorus that doesn't even seem to fit with the verse at all well like the finished song.
Ok I can't breathe from laughing at the rooster call. I can do without the "Happy-Happy, as can be, Hip Hip, Horray" but the rest of it is pretty good for the most part. I like the "Lesson one" parts.
Sempre maravilhoso!
Wow, amazing that this could turn into something as amazing as an all time classic.
You gotta give credit to the fact they kept refining the song and years later had the version we all love.
The version from 1981, then this and then the one from 1984 - and then the final. Amazing.
A lesson in never underestimating the importance of a good producer. There is a rough diamond here, but it took a genius with experience to polish this into the blindingly bright final version.
To me, this was a much more interesting tune.
@David Harrell "Hip hip hooray" ... are you kidding me?
@spurv excluding some of the lyrics and the bird call.... I think as a piece of music its just got more interesting things going on.
More chord changes that give it interesting direction. More interesting textures, like the guitar. Dryer and rawer, not washed out in layers of effects. They should've kept this version, with some work on the lyrics and vocals. Maybe that "Take On Me" hook could've been put together with another verse.
@David Harrell Ok, fair enough. I don't agree, however. I think this version lacks vitality. It's all drenched in reverb, using weak synth sounds. Most of the elements washes together, with nothing really standing out. Sometimes you just need to simplify, and play to your strengths. It's obvious to me why this version didn't do anything.
Rough diamond? That's one way to describe this lump of coal.
0:41 😂
Por temas legales el formato no es el original, es por eso la deformacion del audio a un formato modificado a 8 bits, para no duplicarlo.
This made my whole evening!! I actually thought it was a parody "hip hip hooray" lmao!! But they knew to keep the best part of the song, when his voice lowers and he sings "oh I'll be coming for your love ok".
not sure which I prefer - this one or actual Take on me - they're both pretty good
God, I cannot breathe! Help me! Hahahahha
WHAT THE HECK IS THIS!
tnks it was recorded again
1:14 is easily the best part of the song.
From the Shadows Emerges... Nah, it's obviously 0:40 that's the real powerhouse, lyrically XD
This was just a demo of the song before the official version in 1984. Then in 1985 was the second version of the song
*kid banging the desk with his head, listening to this song, while cat is scratching the black board*. Oh the horror! Mommy! Make it stop! LOL!
this song makes me smile
Super extraña pero la voz de Morten es linda♥♥♥
its not bad at all
Somehow this sounds like Morten Harket singing to an 8-bit/ videogame version of this song lol. Not a too bad demo tho, except minute 0:40 xD I laughed when I heard that hahaha, sounds like a rooster.
The squeal at 0:40 sounds like an intentionally bad impression of a bird call
Jaaa, jaaaa!I laughed a lot with your comment! So true!!!
0:40 wtf?
I laughed my head off at that. is that some rooster?
What in the hell
Caralho, bicho. Que versão favela. Mas irada assim mesmo!
EE EEEEEEEY KKKKKK so cute
2:10 I KNOW ITS GONNA BE GOOD!!
how right he was
FORTNITE BATTLE ROYALE
I love it!!! Amazing surprise!!! Thank you 😄

0:41 Morten's mating call
TheBatterIsLove TheBatterIsLife 😂
#cringe
TheBatterIsLove TheBatterIsLife Cos you’d know, right? The tabloids know everything, not.
Jajajaj
@The Restoration of Dr Who When did the tabloids claim that Michael Jackson shagged a chicken
really like the change at 0:53
Me too! Also 1:50 to the end.A lesson in how to do interesting things with simple chords.
They were so young when they started (I mean, when they were still in Norway, writing and composing, around the late 70's and the early 80's, or even by the time this version was recorded - in 1982, Morten was 23, Paul was 21 and Mags was 20!). They had many great ideas and melodies, they played many instruments and had beautiful voices, but they were experimenting themselves. Of course the music industry would have to make ajustments, as it always does anyway. They were a rough diamond - three talented boys with a dream. They also were really blessed to find good people to help and teach them all they needed to know to fly by themselves. It's so sweet to listen to this beginning! No shame at all! It's amazing they still have these demos, and that we have the opportunity to listen to them!
+Lucyinthesky + WITH DIAMOOONDS
What about the rare Bridges version from 1981? The very first incarnation was named "The Juicy Fruit Song"; I personally liked that one, but to each their own.
e esse galo no meio da música?
MarVin Espindola EE EEEEY KKKK so cute
Ricardo Passos EE EEEEEY KKKKK so cute

0:40 EE EEEEE EEEEYYYYY xD

not bad for a demo
Sounds horrible.
its funny with the rooster type of noise from morten
@michael jagger I had to laugh. Now it's time to wipe the spit from the screen.
shurely you sound better!.. and you are famous!
mike
Sweetie, his comment is called opinion
Well what do expect from a first draft?
I caught AIDS _and_ cancer from listening to this.
+BaSH PROMPT (ಠ,ಠ) Sorry to hear that youre dying from this..
fantastic - thanks for sharing. the sound quality is stellar actually.
I like 'anchors away'
a mess I think...especially a scream he does somewhere in the song before the mid of it....I guess record companies make stars and KNOW WHAT TO DO CORRECT...because the 2nd video of take on me with the director of Michael Jackson "s billy jean and a change in the rhythm of the song ,making it faster...MADE THE SONG TO BE NUMBER ONE..here the song is almost a mess and reminds nothing from the original version.
+Sotiria Sotia This is actually closer to the original Bridges version, especially the bass during the melody it(can't think of a way to describe it better) sounds much more like the original here.
+Kalmon salmon The Juicy Fruit Song.
I'm hoping you know there were three versons:
Lesson one (1982)
Take on me (1984)
Take on me (1985)
Albert Einstein and take on me demo 1983
This song is from the album "Hunting High and Low (Expanded and Remastered)".
The year of this recording was in the autumn of 1982.
