Dorothy - Rest In Peace Lyrics
Blood on my hands, what's done is done
Left you by the road with the crows in the dust
Heart so hollow, deep as a cave
One day I'll be dancing on your grave
Takin' it back, the life you stole
Now I lay you down to sleep
And pray with the devil
You rest in peace
You can't hang your chains on me
When you're six feet deep
This heart ain't yours to bleed
Now that yours no longer beats
Hallelujah, I'm over you, yeah
I buried you, oh lord, you're dead to me
Black umbrella
In the pouring rain
No preacher, no prayer
To cry your name
A little too late to right your wrongs
No one laying roses on your bones
No tears, no loving memories
Long is the road out of hell and the misery
So by my decree
You can't hang your chains on me
When you're six feet deep
This heart ain't yours to bleed
Now that yours no longer beats
Hallelujah, I'm over you, yeah
I buried you, oh lord, you're dead to me
Rest in peace
You can't hurt me now
Can't hold me down
What's done is done
You can't hurt me now
Can't hold me down
I've had enough
Oh lord, you're dead to me, so I lay you down
I lay you down to sleep
You can't hang your chains on me
When you're six feet deep
This heart ain't yours to bleed
Now that yours no longer beats
Hallelujah, I'm over you, yeah
I buried you, oh lord, you're dead to me
Rest in peace
Rest in peace
Rest in peace
Lord you're dead to me
Rest in peace
Rest in peace
Rest in peace
Rest in peace

Dorothy Rest In Peace Comments
God this woman was built for Roc N Roll. Her vocals are absolutely amazing. She's a Rock Goddess!
Well,, u describe my mind for the right way...hm
Hell yeah she is! Went to see Lita Ford and Halestorm at a Hard Rock. However, it was Dorothy who stole the show. I was instantly addicted to her music. Love Lita and Lzzy both a great representatives of Rock. But, to me.. Dorothy is on another level.
She's just as good performing live too.
Yep she’s in a class with some top female vocalists!!
I would dearly love hearing Dorothy and Halestorm perform together.
I think Dorothy's and Lzzy's voices would compliment each other.
Swap Halestorm for the Pretty Reckless.
And The Pretty Reckless right in the middle! Perfect show!
💯 percent agree
Hell yeah. I could totally get on board with that
Never heard of her, stumbled onto this video, she's got a new fan if this is representative of what she does. Great voice.
Sign me: 66 yr old blues and ROCK fan.
Earth's most talented and hottest rock star!
Same as you Ron, never heard of her. But this song (and associated video) are pretty awesome. Will check out her other work for sure. :)
I just heard her on the raideo mom thought it was either halestoem or pretty reckless but it didn't sound like neither of them and i found this video.
What an incredible voice!
Many people, I think, see these lyrics as breaking free from some abusive lover or something along those lines. For me, and I'm probably not the only one, it's how about depression and anxiety and other mental issues can 'chain you down'. To me, this song is like a cry of relief and liberation from getting out from the bottom of the well.
I accept this take fully 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
@Tohtori T To me, there's not really much good modern rock left. Goth rock is pretty much the only one, and bands outside of goth like Dorothy, or Halestorm are rare today. There's no new blood in rock. No one wants to be a rockstar anymore, everyone wants to be a RU-clipr or Twitch streamer. Musicians are on RU-clip, but they don't get a lot of support since they're grassroots on RU-clip.
Streaming services haven't been helpful for new music artists, a lot of people will just listen to their albums online and never buy their album. The only money artists really get is by touring or people buying their stuff. That's why I like Bandcamp, the goes to supporting artists.
I want real rock and not the combination of genres to rock like rap, it's like rock can't exist on its own. Rap rock I thought was a 2000s thing with Hollywood Undead. I want real punk rock to come back, not the sensitized pop punk. I would love new bands in the same genre of The Descendants, Circle Jerks, The Adicts, or Dead Kennedys to be around today.
All of the above are right. Music, like all art, is subjective. So you will hear what ever speaks to you most. And ain't that just the coolest thing ever?
@Richard Josephus "Dark Nights", "Missile", and "Rest In Peace" a trilogy?
Dorothy must be one of the most underrated singers of all time
I love her voice and she is beautiful!
Who rated her and how can we get in touch with them?
Just discovered her-she’s incredible, what a voice 🔥🤘🏼♥️
her voice is 10/10 ♥
Thanks Dorthy your music is getting me through one of the worst times in my life
God she got a VOICE. This song came out right as me and mine split. Here now at the end of March the song feels amazing.
The greatest voice!
I've been a fan of Dorothy since "Raise Hell" was played on Pandora's ad. "Rest in Peace" has only been in my head for 20 mins and it's already my new favorite! I fucking love these epic blues!
Funny, I also discovered her through an ad, it was "Wicked Ones" playing during a Levi's ad
Dorothy's voice is awesome, the band is extremely tight for sure. Awesome group. mixing is excellent and mastering is exquisite. This is a perfect example of what to do. You guys have it together and i hope for nothing but the best for you!! All around awesome!!
Highly recommend this song to everyone listening. I live it, breathe it, and feel it in my bones. Way to go!
So intense 🤟
Amazing vocals!
Everything about this song RULES!! Her voice is Perfect!!
Dorothy's got her rock back, heavy rock with a bluesy edge is what she does best, this is the natural progression from Rock is Dead, love it !
Zero blues. Garbo
@Emperor Palpatine Okay
Ratio
She’s always had it 🖤
Dorothy has an absolutely gorgeous voice i would LOVE to see them live!
I cant explain the feeling this song gives me, she has such a great tone to her voice. amazing whoever this is. That guitar solo too... god damn
shoots straight to the soul, her voice is haunting
WOW!!! What a song! Powerful, Relatable, well crafted and sung like a survivor!!! Clearly an Apex song!!!
Saw her in 2019 at a very small venue in SF. She's amazing. Going to see her at the Ace of Spades in Sac on May 18th, very small venue with great accoustics. Woohoo!!
By far, one of my favorite humans on the planet. It’s been such a kickass-inspiring journey to watch you evolve. Love the new music, girl. As usual it’s just what I needed. 💕
Has that country rock, heavy post-grunge feel to it. Powerful vocals and awesome instrumentals. Great stuff
She's not only beautiful but has an amazing voice
Saw Dorothy open for Greta Van Fleet in San Francisco pre COVID. She's got a phenomenal voice and puts on a hell of a show. Check them out if they are anywhere around.
HALLELUJAH. The melody, lyrics, and the singer's voice are so amazing.
Just discovered this song 2 days ago and already blasting it nonstop, absolutely in love with this queen of rock
Seen her three times live and she has yet to disappoint, looking forward to number 4
I have no idea how you can make instant classics, but Dorothy practically always does. Crazy!
Chills went up my spine when she started singing.
One of the best voices in music, not just rock n roll.
She and her voice and talent are gorgeous
Just was introduced to this song this morning. LOVE it. Amazing vocals and gotta love a great rock song. Definitely a new fan and so glad to have found her. I stan a badass rock goddess and her band.
First I'm hearing of her, but damn her voice itches a good spot in my brain
This is such a great song!!
Totally love her - gives me those Alana Myles vibes of today..
Loved the song. This music touches deep in my body, mind, soul, spirit, divinity, and entity.

Blood on my hands what’s done is done
Left you by the road with the crows in the dust
Heart so hollow deep as a cave

Now I lay you down to sleep
And I pray with the devil
You rest In peace
You can’t hang your chains on me

This song came out just as I was getting over a 5 year relationship. It helped me to feel powerful again
Love the song! Love the message just as much! Another artist's concert for my bucket list.
How have I never heard of DOrothy before this day? WOW!!!
Had the pleasure of seeing Dorothy play in Atlanta at Terminal West.
This woman has a Voice and Sing.
Puts on a great show and the Band when they had their moment to play while Dorothy took a little break. They Killed it.
Love the new song
You Rock Dorothy!!!!!!!
I'm in love with the way you sing, the style, everything. Shine like the sun
In love with her style. Blues with rock tones. Her and Jelly Roll and or Rag'n'Bone Man would do wonders
A voice like honey poured on velvet with a dram of whiskey in a smoke-filled room.
Absolutely amazing- one of the most slept on artists of the time. Every time I introduce her to someone they're shocked they haven't heard her before because she is PHENOMENAL. Hope for my songs in this style! Absolutely love the Rock is dead album and this song
One of the best new rock songs I have heard in a while! Very soulful vocals and energy from the singer and terrific blend of the band. Now it needs airplay!
The guitar 🔥, the lyrics 🔥, the voice that can sing like that and let out that scream at the solo 🔥 - awesome !!! , can stop listening to this one !!!
Fantastic vocals and great pipes as well. Producer definitely enhanced her power with the layering and vocal placement. Keep going girl! 👍 😎
