5th Dimension, The - Love's Lines, Angles And Rhymes Lyrics

Love leads the lines of love in circles and angles
Love runs deep like a tunnel with a pendulum beat
That touches the heart in many directions
Moving the mind in silent reflection
Of the lines that touch the corners and fibers
Of the feeling that keeps running inside you
Cycles of fears with the longing and tears
Lettin' out the needs and laughter of
Sunshine, love shine
Touching the fibers of the feeling inside you
Letting out the things you hide
Need leads the lines of love in circles and angles
Need runs deep like a tunnel with a pendulum beat
That touches the heart in many directions
Moving the mind in silent reflection
Of the lines that touch the corners and fibers
Of the feeling that keeps running inside you
Cylinders of hope turning and yearning
Into pendulums of weary hes...
...Itation, contemplation
Of the angles and rhymes and the triangle lines
The feeling touching mine with time
Want leads the lines of love in circles and angles
Want runs deep like a tunnel with a pendulum beat
That touches the heart in many directions
Moving the mind in silent reflection
Of the angles and rhymes of the circles and lines
With the tunnels of love running over
Taking the mind and triangle rhyme
And twisting it to fill the cup of
Sunshine, love shine
Touching the fibers of the feeling inside you
Letting out the things you hide
That touches the heart in many directions
Moving the mind in silent reflection
Of the lines that touch the corners and fibers
Of the feeling that keeps running inside you
Cylinders of hope turning and yearning
Into pendulums of weary hesitation
Taking the line and triangle rhyme and twisting it
To bend the mind in all directions
It's love and want and need and all those things
Tearing you apart

To Ms. Dorothea Joyce, All I can say is that you were tapped into that river of life when you wrote this. The lyrics, the arrangement, Vocals, and that group to pull off that sound!!! Blessings.

  6. W.... D....

Such a complex lyrical dynamic work of art. I appreciate the deepness of this song and its ability to really allow Marylin McCoo and the 5th Dimension to shine at the upper echelon of contemporary rock and roll music during that time of the early 1970's. Thank you Dorothea Joyce to writing such a beautiful lyrical masterpiece for the 5th Dimension to record and perform. I will always love the 1970's and this music is one of several reasons why I can say with certainty that the music of the 1970's was the best music during my lifetime. Best of Luck to you Dorothea in your future projects!

I loved this song so much back in Chicago as a young teenager, it was soooo soulful and you have really listen to the words, everything about it was fantastic, to Pam, Anthony, Buck, Diane, Koochie ---- all my crew from 67th Street.

Ever notice how a song from your past will bring back some of your best memories? Here I sit at 12:15 in the morning listening to many of the songs of my youth, ( I'm 70 now), and these songs bring back memories as clear as though they happened yesterday. Makes me remember something Paul Harvey said, " when you go back to the home of your youth, you find that it's not the home, but your youth that you miss. I think that it is well said.

    "Love's Lines, Angles And Rhymes"

Love leads the lines of love in circles and angles

Love runs deep like a tunnel with a pendulum beat

That touches the heart in many directions

Moving the mind in silent reflection

Of the lines that touch the corners and fibers

Of the feeling that keeps running inside you

Cycles of fears with the longing and tears

Lettin' out the needs and laughter of

    Sunshine, love shine

Touching the fibers of the feeling inside you

Letting out the things you hide

Need leads the lines of love in circles and angles

Need runs deep like a tunnel with a pendulum beat

That touches the heart in many directions

Moving the mind in silent reflection

This was my favorite song of theirs and she was singing it live! I watched Solid Gold just to see her. What a woman!

  45. a.... ....

Bell great writer..the fifth best singers

  46. J.... S....

A sizeable portion of the current American mainstream pop music arena is so appalingly, embarrassingly bereft of any kind of substance. Sooooo, we harken back to when it WASN'T and, in turn, get to appreciate what REAL talent and soul and heart sounds like.

  47. W.... A....

I a little guy but i loved all of there music and most of the songs on top 40 radio in that time.
    Also Sergio Mendes Brazil 66.

  48. D.... T....

Need to give this song a little more credit in the description. It reached #6 on the U.S. adult contemporary chart and #19 on the Billboard Hot 100.

  49. J.... M....

Good song I used to hear some forty seven years ago. I like the lyrics which are both meaningful and significant, and the rhythm and the wonderful voice of Marilyn McCoo.

  50. J.... H....

In love in my sophomore year of high school.

  51. D.... J....

Hello. I am Dorothea Joyce, the writer of the lyrics and music for Love's, Lines, Angles, and Rhymes. A friend wrote me and said, "Dorothea, you have to go to the song. There are new comments." I read every single one and want to thank all of you for taking the time to express your feelings about the song and the wonderful way The Fifth Dimension/Marily McCoo delivered it. There is a magical story behind how it was written, recorded, and how it made its way into the public eye. "Taking a line in triangle rhyme and twisting to fill a cup o' sunshine,' is all about how each of us, on a path of our own, goes through the kaleidoscope of emotionally felt experiences to find our way back to loving ourselves and appreciating the journey of others. Sending heartfelt blessings to all of you during this time of accelerated change. 2018. I just finished writing a book trilogy, from which I created an innovative odyssey of five films for full length animation. I had to live it to write it. Wish me luck in landing these properties a home. All my successes have come through Divine Intervention. This song appears in a pivotal point of the first film. (Amazon.com/dorothea joyce books.)

    D.... J....

Dorothea Joyce you are the “ultimate” pin man for anyone who loves hard. I was a sophomore in high school when I first heard this song and I felt everything that this song expressed then.....and now. I’ve been out of school for over forty years now, and I listen to your song still with the same passion. I can’t wait to listen to your expression of sexuality, passion and love with someone who feels the same way. Someone who gets it. Thank you for your time and surely your own personal feelings that you unselfishly gave in writing this song. I will always love it because it speaks my heart. Thank you.

    D.... J....

    LOVE.THIS.SONG = Thank you!

  82. M.... W....

Ah, Marilyn....what an amazing instrument she was blessed with....I miss this calibre of music.

  83. L.... G....

    My favorite!

  84. R.... M....

Marilyn's voice is stunning on this It also happens to be one of those rare musical compositions that is perfectly written. It starts out mellow, which you first suspect the entire song might be. But then it opens up and starts to cltmb. It climbs again and then reaches a supreme state of exhaltaion. Its no longer background music anymore and you want to hear more. When it reaches its climax, it drops back dowm to the quiet level it began with. And the journey starts all over again. Brilliantly written by Dorothea Joyce.

  85. s.... n....

    Nice.
And dig the bass playing of Joe Osborn.

  86. J.... F....

Every one of their songs brings to me pleasant memories of the early seventies of last Century. A great group really they sang pretty good songs which are still good to hear over forty years later.

  87. L.... G....

I don't know why that always made me cry! I was in school when that song hit the airwaves! So Beautiful

    L.... G....

    Hugs. Dorothea Joyce, writer.
