311 - Sun Come Through Lyrics
Running the ship on an ego
Shutting the mind and closed out
People would ask where did he go
As the boat sunk down
Lie to yourself it's so tragic
Breaking it down 'til you're all alone
I'm in the center of a labyrinth
I feel lost I feel imprisoned
Tell me there's an end
I need some oxygen
How did I get here
Help me make it out of here
I can see it all now clear at last, the fog has lifted
All came in focus at once, it's such a gift
If I knew the truth
As long as I've been here never could I steer clear of myself
Think what I could do
Sun come through
What if I'd kept it together
And never to bounce off the ground
It couldn't have got any better
With anyone around
That's how I got here
That's how it got so clear
I can see it all now clear at last, the fog has lifted
If I only knew
All came in focus at once, it's such a gift
If I knew the truth
As long as I've been here never could I steer clear of myself
Think what I could do
Sun come through
I'm finally home
I see a light house
I don't have to roam
It's not all black out
I can see it all now
Out of nowhere came a clue
Truth I hid the truth I hid from me
Hit the skids I hit the skids only
To find a light to light my way home
Sun come through
I lost it all and all that was left
Beat of my heart, air of my breath
Better late than never
I'm finally home
I see a light house
I don't have to roam
It's not all black out
I can see it all now
Out of nowhere came a clue
Truth I hid the truth I hid from me
Hit the skids I hit the skids only
To find a light to light my way home
Sun come through
Sun come through

311 Sun Come Through Comments
My buddy and I talked about this being the apology track from Nick. We can all agree that Don't Tread on Me and Evolver weren't the best and something was wrong. From Uplifter on, this band has WRECKED IT! Seems like a reunion of best friends with Nick accepting that he got a little too big for his britches. Hell, we all do! Glad my favorite band is based on humility and positivity and got that ship on the right course! Love these guys!
I agree, would've been best song on otherwise just okay album.
Can't believe this wasn't on the album. I get why some of their other b sides weren't, but this one seems like a no brainer. One of the better songs of anything on uplifter.
This song is epic as fuck. Hope they play it at 311 day 2018.
This song is saving my life right now
Jay K It helped save mine about eight years ago. Suicidal depression had it's grip on me. Eventually, the sun came through. Lol.
Years later, I watched an interview with Hexum. He was asked what books he reads. I knew the answer before he replied. He said "The Power of Now", by Eckhart Tolle. Eckhart has helped save my life too. The lyrics in this song (and later in Stereolithic also) had too much in sync with The Power of Now.
If you get the chance, open yourself to this book.
Either way, hang in there. Much love.
This song should've made the track lis on the album
I've been listening to 311 for like 20 years or more 1st time hearing this . Fuckin awesome
Nice surprise right??
Thanks guys for keeping this gem, pearl,in the back for awhile! It was like x-mas when i heard this one!!!!!
at 1:55 it gets so good and remains amazing for the rest of the song
Add this to the list of B-sides that should have been on albums.
“Outside” should have been an addition to the already perfect Blue Album.
“Cali Soca” should have just been added to Soundsystem.
“Sun Come Through” could have easily replaced “Too Much Too Fast” or “My Heart Sings”.
Ahh! Really? I looooved Too Much Too Fast! But then again I'm a girl 311 fan and we tend to like that sappy stuff😃 That's why Two Drops in the Ocean is my favorite jam ever!
Come on, my My Heart Sings is awesome :o
Get Down is their best B side IMO.
@Mikey Millions Get Down is also sick. As is "I Like The Way"
Best song since 03'
+ShadukoSan Agree!!
Def a fav!
why didn't this make the album? 2nd best song after NES!
Some of 311's best music is from their b-side collection.
@Chris Bryant did u see the 81 song archive box set thats coming out in 30 days? It looks amazing. We finally get the transistor bsides!
Chris Bryant couldn't agree more!!
This track, especially. It's the Nick/311 reunion and it is beautiful.
Song should have been in the album for sure. Ive been leste2to them since '95 and they still amaze me. Dont tread on me was kinda of a flop though. Other than that they've been great. Especially with Stereolithic.
@njdkidd1231 I liked Pulse ;)
@Hiltslap ahh i thought pulse was by far the weakest. it only has 8 songs and 3 of them (wild nights, time bomb, and weightless) just seemed like not that much effort was put into writing them compared to everything else. they come off kinda generic and radio oriented imo. and for dtom....frolic room, speak easy, dtom, waiting, whisky and wine, and theres always an excuse are all some of my fav 311 songs. but dont get me wrong im just knitpicking here. i love everything 311 has ever created haha
@njdkidd1231 speak easy is incredible I agree
Universal pulse was good I thought. Catchy stuff but could have more songs. I think five of everything was a bad pick for a single.
+Andrew Skaggs I think showdown or Sand Dollars or even boom shanka would been great singles imo
Why the hell wasn't this on the album?
@InfiniteLyte It's available for download on Amazon.
right? This fits into the album perfectly
they really need to release a b-side album. Please people petition for this.
Certainly I would have taken this over too much too fast. And mix it up. I suppose they leave a great song for a bonus to get people to buy multiple editions
this should have been the ONLY song on uplifter..... if i had to choose between the whole album or this.. .. no question
This would have been a great addition to the album.
Seriously, why is this not on the album?
CANNOT believe this did not make the album.
I agree! Best song on Uplifter hands down! Unbelievable it's a b-side!
Shoot me your e-mail. Email me at [email protected]
The dude wasn't saying this is a love song. He was saying this song is what happens when miT is allowed to go crazy on the guitar and he wants an album like that.
Do you still need this song?
Many, many fans share your sentiment, including me.
This is the truth.
What a comforting feeling it must be for an artist to know that even non-mainstream chords and timing will win the hearts of real fans who GET IT (study music theory)!
I've said it about other B-Side's, and I will say it again........they should make a compilation CD of all the B-Sides, there are plenty more that are just as good if not better than ones that did make the cut.
The Sun is a living force. It has a brain. It has no heart. Open your mind and get direction from it.
how is this a b-side?
B-Side?! Damn... This is a jam and a half!
These guys kill it live. Hope they never retire. Please play this at PNC this summer!!!!
obviously you are talking about vocalist SA Martinez
How is this not on the Album Playlist?
this sounds like it would have been a successful single, dont know what the label was thinking leaving this off the album. particularly, when pretty mediocre songs like mix it up and something out of nothing made the cut.
Wowww, the backup singer really sounds like Davey Havoc from AFI. I'm treating this like a smash-up and it's awesome lol
I REALLY want this song. Is there anyway I can get a file of it for free?
Chase Michaelis get the free program "Any Video Converter". You can paste in youtube links and convert them to video or audio files.
not only is it mind blowing this song didnt make the album...i feel like this would have made a successful single. no idea what management was thinking. they left half-ass songs like mix it up and daisy cutter on the album, yet left this off. imo this is the best song theyve put out post-soundsystem.
I just doesn't make sense why they would leave this off the album. It's by far one of the best songs they have written in years and they just 86'd it? It shows the level of disconnect they have right now from their roots
Awesome music, gay lyrics. Get a room, S.A. and Nick.
@SunSoar82 never said this was a love song...i said i dont like the cheesey love music.....i love this song
jhazlem is a dude who got arrested at a 311 show for blowing his boyfriend who looks like burt reynolds....dont take a word he says for anyhing..he jumped on board with 311 after amber came out....fuck that pussy...
@cfresh44
well universal pulse is fuckin dope in my opinion, and i've been listening to 311 since 95. whats your take on it
cant help but think that many years after 311 stops making music..someone will stumble upon a 311 album/track and think..these guys were so underated!
this should have been on the album
my new favorite song
I'm not really about the Bob Rock style, but it's cool, because he still lets them do their thing at least. This is a great track by one of the greatest!
311! Please put this on the next DVD/CD that u make! Even if it wont b 4 years 2come. 1LOVE
WOW!!!!! ok how in the world is this song not on the Uplifter ablum!?!?! what an amzing song!!! LOVE IT!! thanks for posting this!
Tim's solo in this song puts me in a trance!
Happy 311 day!!!!!!!!!!
Never ending summer should have been the first song onthe album followed by this one. Great song!
@SunSoar82 i agree.
IT'S THE ONLY SONG FROM 311 i don't like!
@InfiniteLyte
man i love this song. its stuck in my head
@yoozernaym1 Tell that to Metallica fans.
saw this in atlantic city the other night, just.. wow
this song is better than I would say about 4 tracks that are on there now.
I love 311 and there are some songs I think on this album are epic but this is one of the few albums where there's a few songs that I just don't care for.
see what happens when hexum allows mahoney to play real rock and tear up these solos??? god i would die for a hard rock, no cheesey shit love album from this band just one more time......
the fuck, whe dont i have these!? i have this album
This song is classic 311. Notice how it has echos like they always used to do. Uplifter was lacking in echos.. im just saying it sounds cool
@fatiger yesss sirrr!!!!!!!!!!
I wish the boys would put out a B-Side collection....Im talking Juan Bond, Cali Soca, Seal the Deal, What Would You Do? etc...
Archive
ye its about time they put out an album as good as there first and second
First time I heard this was at 3-11-10 in Vegas. It was great to hear live at the concert, but now that I hear the recording of it, I'm blown away. 311 never ceases to amaze me.
I hope the band releases b-side songs including this one
amazing, amazing song. my favorite 311 since sometimes jacks rule the realm. the bridge gives me goosebumps....god i love this band.
How have I never heard this... This song is sick.
by far the best song from the album. Oh wait, it wasn't on the album...wtf?
i think 6 people missed the like button
@BubbleBuddy25 - I have been a rabid fan since 311-311 (and discovered their ridiculously good early stuff after I fell in love with 311 - 311), and I think this album is a true return to form for the greatest band of all time. They kind of lost me a little after Soundsystem... Every time a new record came out I'd be really excited, then listen to it for a month and still be excited, then forget about it. It's been a year and I still can't stop listening to this album. Many great songs.
yeah all the bonus songs were the best on the album
To those who don't know, it's obvious that 311 read David Icke books before writing Uplifter.
This song is classic 311. Who decided it should not be a track listing for Uplifter?
Hopefully they put out a Uplifter B side with has this song on it.
agreed i heard this on 311 day and dont understand this would have been a better single over Hey You
my first 311 day in las vegas... already cant wait for 311 day 2012....
5 stars! (and I'm picky) Haha.
Oh wait... YouTube changed... well two thumbs up then.
...Or one, whatever.
Fuck the ratings, this song is excellent!
<3
Im thinking the cd track listing should have started with jackpot then this song.
I'm pretty sure he says
"the fog has lifted
all came in focus AT ONCE
such a gift"
just thought i'd give my two cents
ah nice day outside, il play this in my car with the top down
So Amazing! To hear things like this live for 311 day! This is proof they love the fans! ( true fans) They haven't played Slinky live since '93!
They played this shit live for the first time @ 311day!
Sounded fucking awesome...it was a little awkward during the Tim's solo because Nick didn't play guitar live so it came off a little like "Use of Time" does live but still fucking sweet.
I'm so glad they played this one at 311 day
Las Vegas in 3 Days. Happy 311 Day!
311 messed up their track listing. this song should have been on the album. it reminds me of blue album combined with evolver.
take it from youtube google youtube to mp3 converter and then you can take it from youtube
I really think this deserves to be on the album its a quality tune
it came from a fucken automatic ass-kicking machine.
Holy shit, where did this song come from?
That would have been a great and sharp addition to the Uplifter collection.
B side? more like...would've been the best song on the album if they had put it on there. Bob Rock makes me scratch my head alot
could've been the best song on album, ridiculous that it isn't on the cd.
